영역피해모델에 의한 균열 및 노치의 피로강도평가 (Inherent Damage Zone Model for fatigue Strength Evaluation of Cracks and Notches)

  • Inherent damage zone model is presented to explain the fatigue properties near the fatigue limit and the crack growth threshold consistently Inherent damage zone model assumes that the stress at a point which is located at a small distance, $r_0$, an inherent length of the material that represents the size of effective damage zone, from the crack initiation position governs the fatigue characteristics regardless of the geometric configuration of the specimen; smooth specimen, notched specimen or cracked specimens with short and long crack length. A special feature of the paper is using the exact stress distributions of notched and cracked specimens at the strength evaluations. Analytical elastic solutions by Neuber and Westergaard are employed for this purpose Relationship between fatigue limit of smooth specimen and threshold stress of cracked specimen, occurrence condition of non-propagating crack at the root of elliptic notch and circular hole and relationship between stress concentration factor and fatigue notch factor are discussed quantitatively based on the proposed model.

  • Near-threshold fatigue crack growth characteristics was investigated on the Ni-Cr-Mo-V low alloy steel, which has the different microstructure obtained by tempering at various temperature. The specimens were austenized at $950^{\circ}C$ and then followed by tempering at $200^{\circ}C$, $530^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$. Strain rate was obtained from strain gauge attached on the crack tip and crack opening point was observed through load-strain curve. Threshold stress intensity range(${\Delta}K_{th}$) was increased with increasing tempering tempuerature, but the effective threshold stress intensity rage (${\Delta}K_{eff,\;th}$) was not affected with the increasing temperature. Grain size increased with increasing tempering temperature.

Al2024의 균열성장거동에 관한 연구 (A Study of Crack Growth Behavior of Al2024)

  • This study describes the fatigue characteristics for Al2024 alloy, which is aircraft structure material. For this work, the plane-strain fracture toughness test, the plane-stress fracture toughness test and the crack growth rates test were conducted under the standard testing method. Test equipment is a computer-controlled closed-loop fatigue testing machine. The data of each test result is very important to aircraft structure reliability estimation, life prediction, design analysis, endurance analysis and damage tolerance analysis. In addition, the fatigue crack growth threshold($\DeltaKth$) value decreased as the stress ratio increased. Also, $\DeltaKth$ decreased as the thickness increased in LT, TL directions.

  • The base material of optical disc is the amorphous polymer, polycarbonate. So crack growth on the rotating optical disc could happen by the static centrifugal force. This phenomenon is called static fatigue. Today's CD-R disc drive is being operated over 10,000 RPM. This is increasing the possibility of the disc fracture when operating. In this reason, new method to measure the static fatigue threshold quality and the way to calculate the threshold J-integral value and the safe crack length of the optical disc are studied. Finally the environmental effect to optical disc is also studied in this paper.

대형승용차 디스크 브레이크용 회주철의 피로균열 전파 거동 (Fatigue Crack Growth Behavior of Gray Cast Iron for Brake Disc of a Passenger Car)

  • Fatigue crack propagation tests for the brake disc cast iron were conducted for investigating fatigue crack propagation rate(da/dN), crack propagation path and fracture toughness($K_c$) of the material. The threshold stress intensity factor range, ${\Delta}K_{th}$, was found to be about $6MPa{\sqrt{m}}$ at the stress ratio of R = 0.1. Also, fracture toughness value was determined to be $24.7MPa{\sqrt{m}}$. Irregular fatigue fracture surfaces were observed, indicating that fatigue crack growth occurred at the interface between randomly scattered flak graphite and ferrite, where the interfacial strength was relatively weak.

  • 본 논문에서는 근전도를 이용하여 근피로도를 분석함에 있어서 중앙주파수의 임계점을 이용한 효과적인 보행재활훈련 방법을 제시한다. 신호의 측정을 위하여 건강한 성인 남성 5명을 대상으로 실험을 실시하였고 정상 보행에서의 대퇴사두근, 전경골근에 표면전극을 붙여 변화를 측정 하였다. 근전도신호의 측정을 위하여 트레드밀 위에서 30분간 6km/h의 일정한 속력으로 보통걸음을 실시하였고 이를 통해 측정된 근전도신호를 주파수 분석 및 중앙주파수를 계산하여 근피로도를 수치화 한 뒤 30분간 근피로도의 상태와 포화되는 지점을 찾아 이를 근육이 견딜 수 있는 임계점, 즉 근육의 한계로 설정하였다. 실험 결과 근육의 임계점을 정량화 할 수 있었다.

해양구조용강의 피로거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Shot peening on Fatigue Crack Growth Property for Marine Structural Steel)

  • The development of new materials with light weight and high strength has become vital to the machinery, aircraft and auto industries. However, there are a lot of problems with developing such materials that require expensive tools, and a great deal of time and effort. Therefore, the improvement of fatigue strength and fatigue life are mainly focused on by adopting residual stress(in this thesis). The compressive residual stress was imposed on the surface according to each shot velocity(57, 70, 83, 96 m/sec) based on Shot-peening, which is the method of improving fatigue lift: and strength. By using the methods mentioned above, I arrived at the following conclusions 1. The fatigue crack growth rate(da/dN) of the Shot-peened material was lower than that of the Un-peened material. And in stage I, ${\Delta}K_{th}$, the threshold stress intensity factor, of the shot-peen processed material is high in critical parts unlike the Un-peened material. Also m, fatigue crack growth exponent and number of cycle of the Shot-peened material was higher than that of the Un-peened material. That is concluded from effect of da/dN. 2. Fatigue life shows more improvement in the Shot-peened material than in the Un-peened material. And compressive residual stress of surface on the Shot-peen processed operate resistance force of fatigue crack propagation.

The compressive residual stress was imposed on the surface according to each shot velocity(1800, 2200, 2600, 3000rpm) based on Shot-peening, which is the method of improving fatigue life and strength. By using the methose mentioned above, we arrived at the following conclusions; 1. The fatigue crack growth rate(da/dN) of the Shot-peened material was lower than that of the Un-peened material. In stage I, $\Delta$K$_{th}$, the threshold stress intensity factor, of the shot-peen processed material is high in critical parts, unlike the Un-peened material. Also m, fatigue crack growth exponent and number of cycle of the Shot-peened material was higher than of the Un-peened material. That is concluded from effect of da/dN. 2. Fatigue life shows more improvement in the Shot-peened material than in the Un-peened material. 자동차 현가장치재의 부식피로수명에 따른 압축잔류응력의 영향 (The Effect of Compressive Residual Stress according to Corrosion Fatigue Life of Automobile Suspension Material)

  • A study of new materials that are light-weight, high in strength has become vital to the machinery of auto industries. But then, there are a lot of problems with developing such materials that require expensive tools, and a great deal of time and effort. Therefore, the improvement of fatigue strength and fatigue life are mainly focused on by adopting residual stress. And Influence of corrosive condition for corrosion fatigue crack was investigated, after immersing in 3.5%NaCl, $10%HNO_3$+3.5%HF, $6%FeCl_3$. The immersion period was performed for 365days. The compressive residual stress was imposed on the surface according to each shot velocity based on shot peening, which is the method of improving fatigue life and strength. Fatigue life shows more improvement in the shot peened material than in the un peened material in corrosion conditions. The threshold stress intensity factor range was decreased in corrosion environments over ambient. Compressive residual stress of surface on the Shot-peen processed operate resistance force of fatigue crack propagation. The fatigue crack growth rate of the Shot-peened material was lower than that of the un peened material. Also m, fatigue crack growth exponent and number of cycle of the shot peened material was higher than that of the un peened material. That is concluded from effect of da/dN.
