  • Rapid loss of grape berry quality after harvest occurs due to poor postharvest management. Understanding physiological properties between cultivars is required to develop practical technologies to control fast quality deterioration of tables grapes. Physiological characteristics of whole cluster, rachis and berries were examined to find their effects on postharvest behaviour of table grapes. 'Tamnara' showed high respiration rate and browning of rachis compared to 'Campbell Early'. Weight loss of rachis of 'Cheongsoo' was highest of three cultivars. Berry decay in 'Cheongsoo' begins at the connection portion between peduncle and berry, and berry decay of 'Cheongsoo' was the most severe among three cultivars. Precooling at $0^{\circ}C$ showed better results than cooling at $10^{\circ}C$ regardless of cultivars but cooling effect decreased when simulated marketing period increased up to 10 days. Plastic film wrapping was effective on reducing decay in general but not at higher marketing temperature. For successful commercialization of newly developed grapes, the inhibition technology of rachis browning in 'Tamnara' is required and decay control in 'Cheongsoo' through establishment of cold chain system is recommended.

  • The aim of this research is to model the behaviour of recently developed high force to volume (HF2V) passive energy dissipation devices using a simple finite element (FE) model. Thus, the end result will be suitable for use in a standard FE code to enable computationally fast and efficient analysis and design. Two models are developed. First, a detailed axial model that models an experimental setup is created to validate the approach versus experimental results. Second, a computationally and geometrically simpler equivalent rotational hinge element model is presented. Both models are created in ABAQUS, a standard nonlinear FE code. The elastic, plastic and damping properties of the elements used to model the HF2V devices are based on results from a series of quasi-static force-displacement loops and velocity based tests of these HF2V devices. Comparison of the FE model results with the experimental results from a half scale steel beam-column sub-assembly are within 10% error. The rotational model matches the output of the more complex and computationally expensive axial element model. The simpler model will allow computationally efficient non-linear analysis of large structures with many degrees of freedom, while the more complex and physically accurate axial model will allow detailed analysis of joint connection architecture. Their high correlation to experimental results helps better guarantee the fidelity of the results of such investigations.

  • Bridges are designed and constructed as infrastructures in order to overcome topographical obstructions for fast and smooth transfer of human/material resources. Therefore the shape and size of piers constructed along the longitudinal bridge axis should be restricted by topographical conditions. Action forces of connections and piers are affected by pier shapes and sizes together with connection arrangement which decides load carrying path under earthquakes. In this study a typical bridge is modelled with steel bearings and reinforced concrete piers and seismic analyses are performed with analysis models with different arrangement of steel bearings and piers. From analysis results ductile failure mechanisms for all analysis models are checked based on strength/action force ratios of steel bearings and pier columns. In this way the influences of arrangement of connections and piers on the earthquake resistant capacity of typical bridges are figured out in view of forming ductile failure mechanism.

  • This paper proposes a method to endow the mobility to the Zigbee protocol which is a short distance wireless communication technology among the standards of wireless sensor networks. The Zigbee has a low price, long life battery, simple structure and connectivity. So it is a suitable standard for the short distance wireless communication of $10m{\sim}70m$. As the Zigbee does not support the mobility, additional factors should be studied to deal adeptly with the diverse change in the real field. By solving the problem that the previous connection and binding table of the Zigbee end device should be reset due to the Zigbee end device address variation when the Zigbee end device moves from the present router to another router, this paper presents the method to communicate without data loss or disconnection.

  • A simple rotating micro mercury electrode is constructed in such a way that the mercury surface can be renewed quite easily with reasonable reproducibility. It consists of a glass capillary of about 1mm diameter connected to a mercury filled tube by means of a ground joint that allows mercury flow at a particular relative position only, and the electrical connection between the two parts is made by a platinum wire fused in the bottom of the latter. Thus the mercury surface exposed at the tip of the capillary replaces the platinum tip of the usual platinum micro electrode; however, the capillary has to be bent so that the tip directs upwards. It has been found to be a convenient electrode in the amperometric titration in strongly acidic media. Furthermore, it has been advantageously used in the alternating-current polarography because of its smaller electrical resistance than the ordinary dropping mercury electrodes. It also can be used as a stationary mercury electrode in fast scanning polarography.

  • This paper presents improved harmonics extraction based on Adaptive Linear Neuron (ADALINE) algorithm for single phase photovoltaic (PV) shunt active power filter (SAPF). The proposed algorithm, named later as Improved ADALINE, contributes to better performance by removing cosine factor and sum of element that are considered as unnecessary features inside the existing algorithm, known as Modified Widrow-Hoff (W-H) ADALINE. A new updating technique, named as Fundamental Active Current, is introduced to replace the role of the weight factor inside the previous updating technique. For evaluation and comparison purposes, both proposed and existing algorithms have been developed. The PV SAPF with both algorithms was simulated in MATLAB-Simulink respectively, with and without operation or connection of PV. For hardware implementation, laboratory prototype has been developed and the proposed algorithm was programmed in TMS320F28335 DSP board. Steady state operation and three critical dynamic operations, which involve change of nonlinear loads, off-on operation between PV and SAPF, and change of irradiances, were carried out for performance evaluation. From the results and analysis, the Improved ADALINE algorithm shows the best performances with low total harmonic distortion, fast response time and high source power reduction. It performs well in both steady state and dynamic operations as compared to the Modified W-H ADALINE algorithm.

  • Nowadays, in prefabricated composite construction, composite action between steel beam and concrete slab is often achieved with positioning of shear connectors in envisaged openings of concrete slabs. Prefabricated concrete slabs are used for composite steel-concrete buildings and bridges, both for the construction of new structures and for renovation of existing ones, significantly reducing construction time. Development of different types of shear connectors represent alternative solution to the traditionally used headed studs, considering their shear resistance, stiffness and ductility. New types of shear connectors tend to reduce the construction time and overall construction cost. Mechanically fastened shear connectors represent a viable alternative to headed studs, considering their fast installation process and shear resistance. X-HVB shear connectors are attached to the steel beam with two cartridge fired pins. The first step towards extensive implementation of X-HVB shear connectors in composite construction is to understand their behaviour through experimental investigation. Results of the push-out tests, in accordance to Eurocode 4, with X-HVB 110 shear connectors positioned in envisaged openings of prefabricated concrete slabs are presented in this paper. The experimental investigation comprised three different specimen's layout. Group arrangement of X-HVB shear connectors in envisaged openings included specimens with minimal recommended distances and specimens with reduced distances between connectors in both directions. Influence of different installation procedures on overall behaviour of the connection is presented, as well as the orientation of shear connectors relative to the shear force direction. Influence of variations is characterized in terms of failure mechanisms, shear resistance and ductility.

  • This paper investigates the behavior of precast concrete (PC) shear walls with a new vertical connections for a fast remodeling construction. The C-type vertical connections for the PC wall systems are proposed for transfer of bending moment between top and bottom walls in the vertical direction while a shear key in the center of wall is prepared to transfer shear forces by bearing action. The proposed vertical connections allows easy fabrication thanks to slots at the edges of wall in opposite directions. The plane PC wall systems subject to lateral load are compared with ordinary wall systems by investigating the effects of connection on the stiffness, strength, ductility, and failure modes of whole systems. The load-displacement relationship and influence of premature failure of connections are examined. The experimental test showed that the longitudinal reinforcing steel bars placed at the edges of walls yielded first and the ultimate deformation were terminated due to premature failure of connections. The diagonal reinforcements for efficient shear transfer in the walls were not effective. The strength and deformation obtained through the section analysis were generally in agreement with the experimental data, and indicated that. Gap opening contributed to the deformation behavior more than any other factors.

  • The survey was carried out with a random sample of adults living in Busan and Gyeongnam. The collected material is used by the SPSS version 12.0. The frequency, percentage, examination were applied for studying. We separated the group of safety, general management, real hair management according to characteristic about scarp and hair problems. There is highly understanding about the hair problem that if someone has really sensitive scalp or who has dandruff or who has thin hair or who has someone has hair losing problem in their family. Usually, the group has highly understanding of hair problem, they consult about their hair and scalp with expert. They have a really good attention about the mass media(TV, Internet, Newspaper, Magazine) for scalp and hair health. They reduce using hair products. They always read hair product brochure first and use it. They don't eat fast food frequently. The survey has shown high levels of article. Now the research showed us that s have a strict connection between self-recognition and scalp treatments. That means someone has understanding hair problem then start treatment first.
