A quasi-experimental method by questionnaire was used. The subjects were 253 high schoolgirls and their mothers living in Jinju. The data were analyzed by using frequency, factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha-reliability coefficient, three-way ANOVA, and Duncan's multiple ranges test. The high schoolgirl's image was derived in five dimensions by factor analysis: schoolgirl look, prettiness, individuality, activeness, and cuteness. In the image based on the hair length, it was assessed that the short cut and the bobbed hair styles looked more like school girls. And the short cut and long hair styles were considered as showing individuality. On the other hand, the bobbed hair style was assessed as cuter than styles of other lengths. For the bangs, the short bangs were found to more school-girl look and cuter than the long bangs. The mother group, whose ages were older than that of the other group, evaluated that the stimulative pictures had more school-girl look, individuality, prettiness, activeness and cuteness, compared to how the school girl group evaluated. It was shown that the generation gap produced different opinions about the stimulative pictures. Therefore hair style, bangs style, and difference in generations were found to be the variables affecting perception of high school girl image.

  • This study was established to understand how Arte Povera has affected the contemporary fashion based on the analyses of its characteristics and may provide a prospective view to predict style of future fashions. The results were as follows : 1) “The poverty” shows such characteristics as patch work, intentional mismatch, and tendency to prefer slightly used style. This meaning can be explained as direct expression from a sense of alienation, against to consumer economy, and dual-expression between poverty and wealth. 2) “Anti-formativeness” can be described for misinterpretations of creation, arrangement, and informal silhouette due to distortion of the human body. This expression includes such meanings as against to traditionalism, ignorance of rationality, and disorganization of the concepts between the beauty and the ugly. 3) “Naturalism” indicates as characteristics of use of natural materials and primitive expression. This expression could be generated from adaptation to the nature and desire toward uncivilized society due to skepticism about modern society. 4) “Symbolism” shows such expressions as an isolated feeling from society, and metaphoric sense from specific situations because there are too many applications of imported materials. This tendency can be also explained with the creations of spaces for opened concepts through disorganizations of territory, obscurity, and irregularity.

  • This study analyzed the qualifications necessary and manpower required in the Jeju nail art and make-up industry. We aimed to investigate the relationship between NCS education and national technical qualifications. For this study, 164 participants were given a questionnaire, and the collected data were analyzed via frequency analysis and multiple regression analysis using SPSS Ver. 18.0. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Matching job seekers with available positions was more difficult in nail art businesses than in makeup businesses. The main routes by which practitioners found jobs were Internet job sites and acquaintances. In addition, experience was the first consideration in hiring employees. 2. Those in high positions had less intention of employing students who had received NCS education, than those in lower positions. Intention to employ NCS graduates was high in businesses that found their employees through Internet job sites, vocational training institutes, acquaintances, or colleagues. Nail art workers prioritized NCS educational units in the following order: nail care, nail shop hygiene, gel nails, cosmetic nail removal, and tips/wraps. Makeup workers had the following priorities: basic makeup, wedding makeup, makeup shop safety, and hygiene management. They also mentioned basic occupational skills such as communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem solving skills. Moreover, the new national licensing system was found to reflect competency in the most important skill sets.
