  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the accuracy of cultivated crop database in agricultural farm business using UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and field survey over Daesso-myeon, Umsung-gun, Chungbuk. When comparing with agricultural farm business and cadastral maps, Daeso-myeon crop field shows 29.8%(2,030 parcels out of 6,822 parcels) is either mismatched or missing. It covers almost 19.3%($3.4km^2$ of $17.6km^2$) of total farmland. In order to solve these problems, it is necessary to prepare a multifaceted plan including cadastral map. Comparative analysis of the cultivated crop registered in the agricultural farm business and the field survey agreed only in 3,622 parcels in total 6,822 parcels whereas 3200 parcels disagree. Among these disagreed parcels 2,030(29.8%) have been confirmed as unregistered farm business entity. Accuracy of cultivated crop registered in agricultural farm business agreed in 75.6% cases. Especially the paddy field registration is more accurate that other crops. These discrepancies can lead to false payment in agricultural farm business. For exploration and analysis of regional resources, UAV images can be used together with farm business management database and cadastral map to get a clearer grasp over on-site resources and conditions.

  • This study was carried out to find out the possibility of continuity of the Farming Service Company (FSC), which has been founding since 1991 by the public administration to obtain the scale economy in the rice production, through the only financial analysis of the FSC. The results obtained were as follows. 1. The FSC's business is forward to the off-farm business rather than farm business. Based on the profit ratio, the profit ratio of off-farm business is more than that of farm business. It may cause the difficulty of policy to obtain the scale economy in the farming through the FSC. 2. Without subsidies the average net profit of the FSC was negative, which may provide the motives to the FSC to seek out the way to survive through the off-farm business, unless the FSC's could break up. 3. After all, the possibility of continuity of the FSC through the only financial analysis seems to be very little. Therefore the public administration should reconsider the present policy which is to found the more FSC continuously. If government wants to support the FSC continuously, government should focus on the conglomeration of farm land to increase the productivity of farming and on the subsidy of off-farm business to increase the profit ratio of the FSC.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze consumer preference for fish farm HACCP certification using conjoint analysis. This study used raw flatfish product to evaluate the fish farm HACCP. In this study, 500 consumers were surveyed using panel survey and stratified sampling. In the recognition analysis, the farm HACCP certification system was found to be highly recognized by consumers. It can be seen that the brand assets accumulated by existing food and agricultural HACCP certification were transfered to the fish farm HACCP and absorbed. Consumers perceived fish farm HACCP certification as similar one with existing food and agricultural HACCP. Conjoint analysis evaluated three levels factors. The attributes and levels evaluated were : price(25,800 won, 28,400 won, 31,000 won), certification(fish farm HACCP, seafood traceability, and non certified), and origin(domestic, JEJU, and WANDO). The important levels were in order of price(40.8%), certification(30.2%) and origin(29.0%). We found that consumers give higher utility to fish farm HACCP certification compared with non certified and seafood traceability certification. Market simulation results showed that the fish farm HACCP product has 12%p higher market share than non certified products. Seafood traceability certification showed 4.6%p higher market share than non certified products.

  • As technology develops, more advanced technologies involving GPS, GIS, RFID and sensor networks have been adopted in agriculture sector for u-Farm. However, technology adoptions have been evaluated as ineffective. Farmers and agri-business have low level of understanding on technology so it is not efficiently utilized. This study introduces a case of RFID/sensor networks of mushroom farm as a u-Farm case study, focusing on developing a framework for analysis of u-Farm investment returns. RFID and sensor networks improve real-time production control, processing management, and traceability. Integration of RFID and sensor networks leads to innovation into the mushroom farm, reducing labor cost, increasing productivity, and improving quality of the mushroom. • During the past several years, a number of attempts have been made to develop computer applications for the farm business. However, none of them truned out properly applicable to small farms occupying more than 90% of the total agri-business in number as they failed to take it into consideration that small farm, typically a private busines is quite different by nature from the large-scaled farm corporate. Small-sized farming is usually done on the houshold basis, and thus there is no distinction between the household and the business economy. In addition, small farm managers are mostly lacking knowledge or skills of both computers and accounting. This study, therefore, aims at the design and implementation of the financial management and accountign information system for small farms, with an attempt to relax constraints and resolve pitfalls revealed in previously developed applications. The following principles were introduced for the study : 1) The user-system interfaces have to be managed in the natural language as much as possible, so that the users can operate the system without any professional terms. 2) Household accounting has to be seperarte by some means from the business accounting, so that small farm businesses can manage their finance and accounting as necessary. 3) The system has to be designed so as not only for the users to manage transactional data but to analyse historical data in multiple dimensions for their decision-makings. The results from this study would perhaps help not only for the farmers but for the educators, policy makers, and counselors for the farming.
