  • Cytochrome P450 enzymes which require the supply of electrons from NAD(P)H have a great biotechnological impact as they catalyze valuable reactions on a vast variety of substrates. However, very limited biotechnological application has been reported so far due to their functional complexity, limited stability (instability) and, in most cases, low catalytic activity. In this present review, we introduce some possibilities for improving their defect by exploring electron transport system and substrate flexibility in field of Streptomyces cytochrome P450.

Species Transport Mechanisnn and Flame Structure of Counterflow Nonpremixed Flame Perturbed by a Vortex (와동에 의해 교란된 대향류 비예혼합화염의 화학종 전달기구 및 화염구조)

  • A two-dimensional direct numerical simulation was performed to investigate the flame structure of CH$_4$/$N_2$-Air counterflow nonpremixed flame interacting with a single vortex. The detailed transport properties and a modified 16-step augmented reduced mechanism based on Miller and Bowman's detailed chemistry were adopted in this computation. The results showed that an initially flat stagnation plane, on which an axial velocity was zero, was deformed into a complex-shaped plane, and an initial stagnation point was moved far away from a vortex head when the counterflow field was perturbed by the vortex. It was noted that the movement of stagnation point could alter the species transport mechanism to the flame surface. It was also identified that the altered species transport mechanism affected the distributions of the mixture fraction and the scalar dissipation rate.

Actively Controlled Sound Field of Upper Sections Attached to Noise Barriers (방음벽 상단의 음장에 관한 능동제어)

  • On the basis of theoretical studies on the effect of the cylinders attached to semi-infinite screens, the tangential sound power-transport parallel to the surface of the attached cylinder is minimized by means of a secondary sound field, which is generated from a part of the attached cylinder. The numerical study shows the possibility of deflecting the incident sound by minimizing the sound field of the upper sections. The acoustical shadow region was more pronounced in both near- and far-field compared to the passive case with rigid surface, i.e. without active control. For a relatively wide frequency range it was possible to enhance shielding effects only with few secondary sources and error microphones. In this paper effects of control parameters on the actively controlled sound field near the top edge of noise barriers are studied. Results of numerical study and model measurements are shown and discussed.

  • Monte Carlo neutron transport codes generally use the method of successive generations to converge the fission source distribution to-and then maintain it at-the fundamental mode. Recently, a phenomenon called "clustering" has been noted, which produces fission distributions that are very far from the fundamental mode. In this study, a mathematical model of clustering in Monte Carlo has been developed. The model draws on previous work for continuous-time birth-death processes, as well as methods from the field of population genetics.

  • Mercurous chloride (Hg$_2$Cl$_2$) has many advantages in its applications to acousto-optic, and opto-electronic devices because it has the unique properties of a broad transmisson range, well into the far infra-red, a low acoustic velocity, a large birefringence, and a high acousto-optic figure of merit[1]. Hg$_2$Cl$_2$ has a high vapor pressure, hence single crystals are usually grown by physical vapor transport(PVT) method in closed silica glass ampoules. We discuss the application of the laser Doppler velocimetry to measure the flow field inside a closed ampoule. The experimental results, are discussed its relationship to computational model and compared to their expectations.

Performance predictions and acoustic analysis of the HVAB rotor in hover

  • This work presents a numerical investigation of the aerodynamics and aero acoustics of the HVAB rotor in hover conditions. Two fully turbulent models are employed, the one-equation Spalart-Allmaras model and the two-equation k-ω SST model. Transition effects are investigated as well using the Langtry-Menter γ-Re θt transition transport model. The noise generation and propagation are being investigated using the Ffows-Williams Hawking model for far-field noise and the broadband model for near-field noise. Comparisons with other numerical solvers and with the PSP rotor test data are presented. The results are presented in terms of thrust and power coefficients, the figure of merit, surface pressure distribution, and Sound pressure level. Velocity, pressure, and vortex structures generated by the rotor are also shown in this work. In addition, this work investigates the contribution of different blade regions to the overall noise levels and emphasizes the importance of considering specific areas for future improvements.

  • Post-closure safety assessment for the Wolsong Low- and Intermediate-level radioactive waste Disposal Center is described. Based on assessment context, closure concept and ground water flow characteristics of the disposal site, brief descriptions are included on the assessment scenarios, models, input parameters and tools. Radionuclide transport modeling in the near-field and far-field, gas generation and transport modeling, human intrusion and biosphere transport are also described briefly. Assessment results for each scenarios are shown to meet the performance criteria of regulatory body. Further and continuous efforts to improve the safety of disposal facility will be made during the construction and operational period.

Development of an AIDA(Automatic Incident Detection Algorithm) for Uninterrupted Flow By Diminishing the Random Noise Effect of Traffic Detector Variables (검측 변수내 Random Noise 제거를 통한 연속류 돌발상황 자동감지알고리즘 개발)

  • The data quality and measurements along consecutive detector stations can vary much even in the same traffic conditions due to variety in detector types, calibration and maintenance effort, field operation periods, minor geometric changes of roads and so on. These faulty situations often create 10% or more of inherent difference in important traffic measurements between two stations even under stable low flow condition. Low detection rates(DR) and high false alarm rates(FAR) therefore sets in among many popular Automatic Incident Detection Algorithms(AIDA). This research is two-folded and aims mainly to develop a new AIDA for uninterrupted flow. For this purpose, a technique which utilizes a Simple Arithmetic Operation(SAO) of traffic variables is introduced. This SAO technique is designed to address the inherent discrepancy of detector data observed successive stations, and to overcome the degradation of AIDA performance. It was found that this new algorithm improves DR as much as 95 percent and above. And mean time to detection(MTTD) is found to be 1 minutes or less. When it comes to FAR, this new approach compared to existing AIDAs reduces FAR up to 31.0 percent. And capability in persistency check of on-going incidents was found excellent as well.
