The indoor noise of the naval vessel is very important related to the optimum environmental conditions for crews as well as the ability of fighting power of antisubmarine. Especially, sonar equipment room is one of the rooms where require to be silent because the informations of the underwater noise are collected and analyzed in there. In this paper, the sound reduction of the TASS console, one of the main noise sources in a sonar equipment room for a typical naval vessel, is described. The noise source of this TASS console is the flowing noise of cooling fan. In order to reduce this kind of noise, the plenum chamber and acoustic elbow were developed. Related to the development of the plenum chamber, the area of the air-outlet and sound absorption of the inner lining were investigated experimentally with the evaluation system of the sound insertion loss. Acoustic elbow was also manufactured and evaluated with the evaluation system of the sound insertion loss. Finally, in order to evaluated the ability of noise reduction of the plenum chamber and acoustic elbow, the indoor noise of the sonar equipment was measured when they were appled to TASS console.
In this study, the plastic fan with high efficiency and low noise was designed and the capacity of the wind and the wind pressure were analysed and verified by CAE. After designing the metallic mold using the metallic mold design data, and the the metallic mold design was reformed by analysing the process of the material stream and injection filling by CAE. Also the metallic mold cutting data were formed using the metallic mold design data. These cutting data was used to produce the fan electrode by a machining center and then this electrode were used to manufacture the metallic mold by cutting the fan cavity by an electrical spark machine. The purpose of this study is to find out the sub-optimal condition on the productivity and improvement in quality of the plastic fan by integrating a series of this process with a computer.
A cross-flow fan is widely used on many industrial fields: a blower for the general industry, mining industry, automobile and home appliances. The design point of the cross-flow fan is generally chosen by based on the region within low static pressure and high flow rate. It relatively makes high dynamic pressure at low speed because a working fluid passes through an impeller blade twice. However, it has low static pressure efficiency between $30\%$ and $40\%$ because of relative high impact loss. Recently, in the air-conditioning systems, the operating behaviors at the off-design points are highly regarded to broaden the application area for various air-cooling loads. Especially, at the low flow rate, there exists a rapid pressure head reduction, a noise increase and an irregular flow against a rearguider as a scroll of centrifugal fan. Numerical analyses are carried out for cross-flow fan including the impeller, the rearguider and the stabilizer. Numerical domains are discretized by hexahedral cells. Three-dimensional, unsteady governing equations are solved using FVM, SIMPLE algorithm, sliding grid system and standard k-$\epsilon$ turbulence model.
A turbo-fan is easily exposed to noise and vibration as against other industrial machines and the majority of them is subject to be damaged by vibration. The most usual problem of vibration in a turbo-fan is resonance so the case of being composed of iron sheet structure with low strength like a turbo-fan should be taken seriously. In this paper, FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) and Order tracking method were used to analyze factors of vibration in a turbo-fan and hereby with proper selection of vibration isolator, we wanted to reduce vibration of base. After Order tracking, we knew resonance occurred in rotational frequency 23 Hz(1400 rpm) at the casing and the bearing. After the test of base vibration using vibration isolators, the spring isolator was more effective than the robber isolator in the base vibration and the vibration isolating is more effective in the case that the isolating pad is adhered to the bottom of the isolating spring.
A cross-flow fan which constitutes a fan-duct system with a stabilizer and a scroll-casing is widely used in many air-ventilating and air-conditioning devices. The cross-flow fan system has many design parameters which have crucial influence on the performance and the noise characteristics of the devices, which means many difficulties during the design stage of the devices and the general design guide has not sufficiently established yet. This study presents the experimental results of the parameter investigation of some chosen design parameter values, which are the shapes of the stabilizers, the profiles of the scroll casing part, and the diffusion angles of the flow exit. The results are expressed by the varying performance characteristics with the values of the parameters. They are found to have considerable effects on the system performance and should be considered with care in the design stage. Finally some helpful guides for the design and manufacturing of the cross-flow fan system are proposed.

Small-sized axial fans are used as air cooler for electric equipments. But there is a strong demand for higher power of fans according to the increase of quantity of heat from electric devices. Therefore, higher rotational speed design is conducted, although, it causes the deterioration of efficiency and the increase of noise. Then the adoption of contrarotating rotors for the small-sized axial fan is proposed for the improvement of performance. In the present paper, the performance curves of the contra-rotating small-sized axial fan with 100mm diameter are shown and the velocity distributions at a partial flow rate at the inlet and the outlet of each front and rear rotor are clarified with experimental results. Furthermore, the flow conditions between front and rear rotors of the contra-rotating small-sized axial fan are investigated by numerical analysis results and causes of the performance deterioration of the contra-rotating small-sized axial fan at the partial flow rate is discussed.
Three-dimensional flow analysis and numerical optimization methods are presented for the design of an axial-flow fan. Steady, incompressible, three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are used as governing equations, and standard k- ${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model is chosen as a turbulence model. Governing equations are discretized using finite volume method. Steepest descent method, conjugate gradient method and BFGS method are compared to determine the searching directions. Golden section method and quadratic fit-sectioning method are tested for one dimensional search. Objective function is defined as a ratio of generation rate of the turbulent kinetic energy to pressure head. Two variables concerning sweep angle distribution are selected as the design variables. Performance of the final fan designed by the optimization was tested experimentally.
Internal and inlet flows of a cross-flow fan have been visualized using a particle image velocimetry(PIV) to analyze a relationship with a performance of a room air conditioner(RAC). A test model which has a geometric similarity with the real RAC has been manufactured for the experiment and the flow characteristics have been analyzed with various flow rates and inlet grill angles for the cross-flow fan. The experimental results using the PIV technique have been compared with the existing numerical results. Also, a location and movement of an eccentric vortex which can affect the performance and noise of the RAC has been investigated by the PIV with various flow rates and inlet grill angles.
This paper presents a developed squired cage induction motor for axial flow fan. The developed squirrel cage induction noter for axial flow fan is exchanged the position, rotor and stater. In this method a fan blade is attached to outside rotor. So we can protect the motor from rain and reduce noise, and there is no need to have bending duct to locate the fan motor. Carried out experimental test with this induction motor, and the results were as follows. Starting torque was 21kgㆍcm@120V, maximum efficiency was 0.84@120V. The characteristics of tests were the same as double squirrel-cage type IM.
CMS(Condition Monitoring System) is a useful tool to predict the defect of machine condition, for example, Motor, Bearing, Gear, Fan, etc. And, recently CMS is very important on plant. In this paper, describe the bearing electric arcing with example.
