Tiliacora racemosa Colebr. belonging to the family Menispermaceae, is the biggest storehouse of diphenyl bisbenzylisoquinoline (DBBI) alkaloids. Exhaustive chemical processing of the root of T. racemosa by the application of modern separation techniques yielded a DBBI alkaloid which was identified as tiliacorine using sophisticated spectroscopic methods (UV, IR, $^1H-NMR$, MS). Haematological study with tiliacorine proved that there was no abnormal haematological results in comparison with the normal values. Chronic toxicity study with tiliacorine revealed that the alkaloid is devoid of any hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic action.

Toxicodendron vernicifluum, also called as Rhus verniciflua is a deciduous tree belonging to Anacardiaceae family. Two new caffeoyl threonate esters, rhuseols A (1) and B (2), together with 5-O-(E)-caffeoylquinic acid methyl ester (3) were isolated from the leaves of T. vernicifluum. The structures of isolated compounds were established by using 1D and 2D NMR in combination with HR-ESI-MS. Compounds 1 - 3 showed DPPH radical scavenging effects with IC₅₀ values of 47.9, 107.8 and 15.4 μM, respectively. Taken together, these compounds might contribute to the antioxidant properties of the leaves of T. vernicifluum, which will be useful for various oxidative stress mediated diseases.

The genus Polygonatum species belongs to the family Liliaceae which is widely distributed over areas of the north temperature zone. There are about forty more plants of Polygonatum species in the world widely distributed in eastern Europe and south east Asia. The plants of Polygonatum species have been used not only as ornamental plants but also for their medicinal values. This article is concerned with the specific properties and flavour of the drug and its history as a medicine, showing the main functional components of Polygonatum species of flavonoids, steroidal glycosides, and saccharides.

The purpose of this study is to survey alternative methods of valuation of housework, and then to estimate the economic value of housework done by fulltime housewives in Korea. Four different methods-Self Estimation by Housewives, Opportunity Cost, Individual Function Cost and Housekeeper Replacement cost-are tried for the estimation of economic value of housework. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: (1) The economic value of housework varies substantially by the methods of estimation. The average are: *Estimates of Economic values of Housework by Each Method of Estimation (2) The economic value of housework varies with the level of education, ages, household income, the size of family, the number of children, the number of preschool children.

The study applies lifestyles based on the list of values(LOV) to the college student-consumers, classifies them and compares traits. The study also looks into store images of internet fashion shopping malls and differences in purchasing behaviors. The results of the study show that there are three types, namely 'self-confidence and pursuit-of-success type,'family-oriented and responsible type', and 'passive and popular-culture-consumer type'. Among the elements constituting the store images of internet fashion shopping malls, there were considerable differences between groups on 'product and information service' element and 'convenience' element. On shopping mall purchasing behavior, the study confirmed some differences on 'information source', 'product purchase amount', and 'payment method' when purchasing a product. Furthermore, there were considerable differences on shopping mall satisfaction level and repurchasing intention between groups by lifestyle-type.

The present study aims to explore career maturity and influencing factors among elementary schoolers from poor families in Korea. Data are from 249 welfare recipient children in 10 administrative districts of Incheon. Scores of the work attitudes subdomain was lower than other aspects of career maturity including planning, self-appraisal, and independence in career decision-making. In the full sample, those in the higher academic years showed greater career maturity, planning, and self-appraisal, and those with greater parent attachment showed higher levels of self-appraisal. In separate analyses by gender, parent attachment showed greater influence on girls' career maturity. Finding from the separate analyses on lower vs. higher academic years (i.e. grades) revealed that parent attachment and female were associated with career maturity among lower graders, while academic achievement was associated with career maturity, planning, and self-appraisal among those in higher graders. Findings lend support to parental involvement in career education. Poor children might have limited perceptions of career focused on satisfying economic necessities. Career education should pay attention in helping them expand perceptions of the values of career.

This study examined the practice of the impulsive purchase and the factors influencing it among college consumers. The data were collected from 481 college students in Busan and Gyeongnam areas through a self-administered questionnaire. Frequencies, Cronbach's alpha, factor analysis, Pearson's correlation analysis, and regression analysis were conducted by SPSS Windows. The results from this study were as follows: First, the level of the impulsive purchase of college consumers was not that high. Second, as a result of regression analysis for the group of the high level of impulsive purchase, the allowance amount, price-discount factor, credit card use, psychological factor, and attitudes towards money (ostentatious way, and symbol of success), affected the impulsive purchase. These results suggest that consumer education regarding values about money and strategies to resist impulsive purchase should be conducted at home and in school.

본 논문에서 다양한 블록 크기를 가지는 완전 차집합군을 이용하여 불규칙 준순환 패리티 체크 부호를 생성하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 부호는 기존의 설계방법들에 비해 부호율, 부호 길이, 차수 분포 측면에서 다양한 값들을 가질 수 있다는 장점을 보인다. 또한 랜덤한 방법으로 설계하기 힘든 매우 짧은 길이의 부호를 체계적으로 설계할 수 있다. 모의실험을 통해 제안하는 부호의 오류 정정 성능을 검증한다.

This study examines the characteristics of consumers on the ambivalent clothing consuming behavior and the relationship of relevant variables. The data were obtained from 400 females over 20 years old who lived in the cities of Daejeon or Seoul in October in 2009. The values consist of four dimensions: success-oriented value, social value, family-oriented value, and individual value. Value-conscious consumption consists of two dimensions: emotional value-conscious consumption and functional value-conscious consumption. The aforementioned four dimensions of value have positive effects on ambivalent clothing consuming behavior. In addition, emotional value-conscious consumption has a significant relationship on all 5 types in ambivalent clothing consuming behavior. The findings of this study are expected to be used to find niche markets and establish advanced advertising strategies.

Polyacetylenes were isolated from Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer (Family Araliaceae), and their inhibitory effects on growth, infection and VacA vacuolation of Helicobacter pylori (HP) were investigated. Ginseng polyacetylenes did not inhibit the infection of HP into KATO cells. However, polyacetylenes inhibited HP growth and vacuolation of Hela by VacA toxin. Panaxytriol showed the most potent inhibition with $IC_{50}$ values of 0.05 and 0.046 mg/ml, respectively.
