  • The development of automatic production systems have required inteligent diagnostic and monitoring function to repair system failure and reduce production loss by the failure. In order to perform accurate functions of intelligent system, inferencing about total system failure and fault analysis due to each mechanical component failures are required. Also the solution about repair and maintenance can be suggested from these analysis results. As an essential component of mechanical system, a bearing system is investigated to define the failure behavior. The bearing failure is caused by lubricant system failure, metallurgical defficiency, mechanical condition(vibration, overloading, misalignment) and environmental effect. This study described roller bearing fault train due to stress variation and metallurgical defficiency from lubricant failure by using FTA.

  • It is the aim of this study to introduce the performence and application of new repair system for the concrete pier by durability failure caused frost damage. The elementary performance of this repair system is as follows (1) All the layer in the repair system are cement based, same with the mother con'c. (2) This repair use SBR admixture. (3) This cement and mortar powder for this repair system are premixed and ready to adding admixture at the job site.

Failure of Mitral Valve Repair in a Dog with Severe Mitral Regurgitation (심한 이첨판 역류를 가진 개에 실시한 이첨판 성형술의 실패 원인)

  • A 10-year-old 4-kg spayed female Chihuahua with severe congestive heart failure was referred for surgical treatment. Through several examinations, the dog was diagnosed as severe mitral regurgitation (MR) and moderate TR. Because of the poor prognosis associated with continuation of medical management, surgical repair of the mitral valve was considered as the treatment option for the dog. The mitral valve repair was performed undergoing cardio pulmonary bypass (CPB) circuit. However after mitral repair, the dog was died without recovery from anesthesia. Many risk factors associated with failure of cardiac surgery are included CPB management, hypothermia, organ dysfunction, hemorrhage, hypotension, electrolyte & acid base imbalance, and infection. Although the dog is died from the operation, it is an important to reveal the factors of failure in veterinary clinic. From the case report, causes of failure of mitral valve repair can be considered from the failure of oxygenation and gas exchange by hypothermia and serious hypotension with low heart rate by low cardiac output syndrome (LCOS). Through the several considerations from this case, it is known that coming cardiac surgery for mitral valve repair is required to be more careful for successful operation. Further it can be brought to increase success rate in further operation.

A Study on Optimal Preventive Maintenance Policy When Failure Rate is Exponentially Increasing After Repair (수리 후 고장률이 지수적으로 증가하는 경우에 최적 예방보전 정책)

  • This paper introduces models for preventive maintenance policies and considers periodic preventive maintenance policy with minimal repair when the failure of system occurs. It is assumed that minimal repairs do not change the failure rate of the system. The failure rate under prevention maintenance received an effect by a previously prevention maintenance and the slope of failure rate increases the model where it considered. Also the start point of failure rate under prevention maintenance considers the degradation of system and that it increases quotient, it assumed. Per unit time it bought an expectation cost from under this prevention maintenance policy. We obtain the optimal periodic time and the number for the periodic preventive maintenance by using Nakagawa's Algorithm, which minimizes the expected cost per unit time.

주기적 예방보전의 최적정책에 관한 연구

  • In recent years, strengthening by steel plate, carbon fiber sheets, and carbon fiber laminate in spotlighted in order to repair and rehabilitation of R/C slabs. In this study, 3 method of rehabilitation are analyzed from the tests. Test parameters are the width of cracks, the method of repair and rehabilitation, the magnitude of pre-load. Deflection, failure load, strains of reinforcing bar, strains of sheet and plates are measured during tests. The failure mode and separption load analyzed from these measured data.

  • In 2002, property loss caused by failure or leakage of existing river levee structures was about 1.8 trillion in Korean Won, and furthermore in which damages of river structures are getting more severe due to characteristics of extremely extraordinary rain such as torrential rain in the locality or guerrilla heavy rain. In this regards, this paper collects and analyzes those damage records and costs for repair by statistic method, and moreover categorizes the causes of failure, erosion and overtopping of levee structures in large and small scale rivers threatened frequently by typhoon and heavy rainfall. It is believed that the results from the analyses can be used as a basic source in developing criteria of standards for design, construction, maintenance and inspection(or diagnosis) of hydraulic structures such as levee and drain conduit.

  • In this paper, we determine the expected total cost from the user's perspective for the replacement model with the extended warranty when minimal repair cost is a function of failure time. To do so, we define the extended warranty and assume the replacement model following the expiration of extended warranty from the user's perspective. Especially, we propose the criterion to buy the extended warranty and the numerical examples are presented to illustrate the purpose when the failure time of the system has a Weibull distribution.

  • In recent years, stengthening of beam by steel plate, carbon fiber sheets, and carbon fiber laminate is spotlighted in order to repair and rehabilitation of R/C structures. In this study, 3 method of rehabilitation technic are analyzed from the tests. Test parameters are the width of cracks, the method of repair and rehabilitation, the magnitude of existing load. Deflection, failure load, strains of reinforcing bar, strains of sheet and plates are measured during tests. The failure mode and ultimate load are analyzed from these measured data. Test result shows that the width of cracks and the magnitude of existing load do not make any difference of ultimate flexural capacity.
