  • Machine parts and structures of a change in the displacement and strain can be evaluated safety is one of the important factors. Typically the strain gauge has been employed to measure the displacement and strain. However, this contact-type measurement method has disadvantages that are not measured under condition of specific object shape, surface roughness and temperature. In particularly, 3 point bending and 4 point bending test not use strain gauge. So its test used cross head displacement and deflect meter. Digital Image Correlation measurement methods have many advantages. It is non contact-type measurement method to measure the object displacements and strain. In addition, it is possible to measure the Map of full field displacements and strain. In this paper, measured the 3 point bending deflection using the Digital Image Correlation methods. In order to secure the reliability, Digital Image Correlation method and universal test machine were compared.

  • Monitored data (rainfall runoff and water quality) from 4 different paddy sites over 3 years were compared to analyze the effect of irrigation water management on irrigation supply and rainfall runoff quality in Korea. The system of rice intensification water management was adopted at one site (SRI) while the conventional water management method was used for rice culture at the other three sites (CT, SD and HD). The soil texture at SRI, CT and SD was sandy loam while that at HD was silt loam. The average reduction of irrigation supply at SRI compared with CT, SD and HD during the 3 years studied was 49%, 51% and 55%, respectively. The average event mean concentration (EMC) at SRI compared with that at CT, SD and HD was decreased by 35% (BOD), 44% (COD), 47% (SS), 19% (TN) and 38% (TP). The correlation between rainfall runoff and the measured non-point source (NPS) pollutants was very good in general. The comparison revealed that SRI water management significantly reduced both irrigation supply and EMC in rainfall runoff. Paddy NPS pollution was closely related to factors that induce runoff such as rainfall and irrigation supply. It was concluded that SRI management could be an effective and practical option to cope with both water shortage due to climate change and water quality improvement in rural watersheds. However, further studies are recommended in large irrigation districts for use in the development and implementation of NPS pollution policies since the data was collected from field sized paddies.

  • This study aimed to find out the factors influencing the fall of middle-aged women aged 40 to 64 and to use it as basic data for the development of a fall prevention program. The study was based on raw data from the 2019 Korea Community Health Survey. To establish the impact of fall experience of middle-aged women, descriptive statistics, chi-square test, and multiple logistic regression were used. Of the 43,917 people surveyed, 11.9% of middle-aged women said that they had experienced a fall. Falls were more common among women with increasing age or without a spouse. Those who experienced a lot of depression and perceived stress and were diagnosed with diabetes also had a higher fall experience. In the case of drinking, women who drank more than non-drinkers were more likely to fall. The results of this study can lead to a better understanding middle-aged women who have experienced falls, and they can be used as basic data for the development of related health programs.

  • Background Bone marrow involvement (BMI) affects the lymphoma stage, survival, and treatment. Bone marrow biopsy (BMB) and fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT) are useful techniques to detect BMI. Both have advantages and disadvantages. We aimed to identify factors that could be used to predict BMI with positive and negative results on PET/CT compare them with BMB in newly diagnosed patients with lymphoma. Methods We included 22 non-Hodgkin and 16 Hodgkin lymphoma patients in this single center study. All patients had PET/CT examination and BMB before treatment. BMI in BMB was reported as negative or positive. Bone marrow was classified into 3 types by FDG uptake on PT/CT; diffuse involvement, focal involvement, and normal bone marrow. Results PET/CT and BMB results were concordant (7 positive, 15 negative) in 22 patients (57%). We evaluated concordant and discordant patient characteristics and risk-stratified patients for BMI. Our findings suggest that patients with diffuse FDG uptake on PET/CT, especially patients with advanced age and low platelet and white blood cell counts, are likely to have BMI and could potentially forego BMB. Patients with negative PET/CT findings and no significant laboratory abnormalities are very unlikely to have BMI. Conclusion Our results suggest that BMI should not be decided solely based PET/CT or BMB findings. It is reasonable to use both diagnostic assays along with clinical and laboratory findings. PET/CT result, clinical and laboratory findings could be useful for predicting BMI in patient for whom BMB is contraindicated.

  • Article 10 of the Constitution All citizens have dignity and values as humans and have the right to pursue happiness. There is a need for support measures such as a means to realize the respect of dignity and values as humans, and how to efficiently maintain policies on welfare for the elderly classified as the socially disadvantaged. It was considered necessary to develop an elderly-friendly city for economic, physical, and social life. Dasan Jeong Yak-yong's respect for adults was to practice the ideology of Confucianism, so this was the most important thing in the past Joseon Dynasty. In particular, it was considered important to think of adults first in practicing filial piety. This study focuses on the long-term care insurance system for the elderly, one of the welfare policy measures for the elderly. The significance of implementing the long-term care insurance system for the elderly is to benefit not only the elderly, but also all generations, including the middle-aged and children who were in charge of long-term care. To this end, the government should properly manage the factors of the social insurance financial crisis caused by the low birth rate and aging population. In addition, concerns about health insurance are high, so it is necessary to secure an appropriate level of government budget for health insurance financial management and minimize unnecessary non-benefit. In addition, it is necessary to induce appropriate medical use through connection with construction medical insurance.

  • Cyclosporin A is a powerful immunosuppressive agent commonly used for patients receiving organ transplants. Like phenytoin and the calcium channel blockers, the drug is associated with gingival overgrowth. The purpose of this study was to compare the correlation with gingival overgrowth score and clinical indices(i.e, : plaque index, papillary bleeding index, probing depth) and correlation with gingival overgrowth score and microorganism distribution in use of phase contrast microscope. After renal tranplant, taking cyclosporin A 40 patients participating in this investigation. Post - transplatation cyclosporin medication period was average $17.53{\pm}15.75$ months. In previous study reported that gingival overgrowth is an adverse side - effects seen in about 25-81% of patient taking cyclosporin A. The results were as follows : 1. Gingival overgrowth prevalence in taking cyclosporin A patients was 77.5%. Prevalence rate of region was anterior region(26 teeth, 55.3%), molar region(14 teeth, 29.8%), premolar region(7 teeth, 14.8%) in turns. Gingival overgrowth score by Angelopoulos & Goaz method was molar region($1.56{\pm}0.81$), anterior region($1.52{\pm}0.75$), premolar region($1.14{\pm}0.90$) in turns. 2. Medication period was not correlation with gingival overgrowth score. 3. Clinical indices and gingival overgrowth score were as follows. 1) Plaque index and gingival overgrowth score was significantly correlated(p

  • The vowel /o/ in Seoul Korean has been undergoing a sound change by altering the acoustic weighting of F2 and F1. Studies documented that this on-going change redefined the nature of a /o/-/u/ contrast as F2 differences rather than as F1 differences. The current study examined two cognitive factors namely executive function capacity (EF) and autistic traits, in terms of their roles in explaining who in speech community would adapt new acoustic forms of the target vowels, and who would retain the old forms. The participants, 55 college students speaking Seoul Korean, produced /o/ and /u/ vowels in isolated words; and completed three EF tasks (Digit N-Back, Stroop, and Trail-Making Task), and an Autism screening questionnaire. The relationships between speakers' cognitive task scores and their utilizations of F1 and F2 were analyzed using a series of correlation tests. Results yielded a meaningful relationship in participants' EF scores interacting with gender. Among the females, speakers with higher EF scores were better at retaining F1, which is a less informative cue for females since they utilized F2 more than they did F1 in realizing /o/ and /u/. In contrast, better EF control among male speakers was associated with more use of the new cue (F2) where males still utilized F1 as much as F2 in the production of /o/ and /u/ vowels. Taken together, individual differences in acoustic realization can be explained by individuals' cognitive abilities, and their progress in the sound change further predicts that cognitive ability influences the utilization of acoustic information which is non-primary to the speaker.

  • Welding means that metal parts are joined by melting (with or without a filler material) or that new material is added to a metal part by melting. Welding of metal parts is an important technology method in manufacturing processes of capstan drum for costal vessels. Thermal stresses due to the non-uniform temperature fields during welding influence both the fabrication and the use of the weldment. In the problem of this thermal effect, particularly it is a well known that analysis for temperature gradient, temperature distribution, and the like become consequence factors to a safety and a strength design. This paper analyzes the temperature distribution of welding part in capstan drum for the inshore and costal vessels using finite element method. At early stage of the cooling after welding processes, the abrupt temperature gradient has been shown in vicinity of the bottom face of welding part. Therefore it calculates the numerical value that can be applied to the optimal design of welding parts in the shapes for capstan drum.

  • The industrial explosives in Korea have been made and used since 1952. The blasting accidents have increased gradually with the use of explosives. Based on the Police Department and Guns & Explosives Safety Technology Association's researching materials, the blasting accidents between 1988 and 1997 have been investigated and analyzed in this paper. FTA method was applied for the analysis of the blasting accidents which occurred in the tunnels, roads, subways, and various kinds of building construction area. The results show that the majority of the accidents, about 45.7% of the total, are due to the fly rocks. It is similar trend in Japan. The FTA analysis performed on the accidents by fly rocks shows that the major source of the accident is human factors such as non-observance of the safety rules, less knowledge of the safety and so on. The results of the study ate expected to provide basic data for making and observing the safety rules, making and amending the laws concerned and planning the security project. It will be helpful in preventing the blasting accidents and in reducing the loss of valuable lives and the financial damage.
