  • As systematic methodologies are required for the evaluation on the durability of reinforced concrete structure, it is necessary to study and examine every factor which deteriorates the durability of structures. This paper aims to define factors affecting rebar corrosion and to establish a basis for a prediction of serviceability, regarding a state of harmful corrosion as a state when crack begins on the surface of concrete. The study results are followings; The corrosive current has changed by types of mixture, and this property enables the evaluations of corrosion resistance by mixture and concrete cover. The specimen using AE superplasticizer has better corrosion-resistance properties than non-AE specimen, as well those having low W/C and high unit cement weight. The procedure for calculation of durable year in this study is able to use as an indicator to establish mixture factors such as unit cement weight, W/C, amount of admixture, etc.

  • Recently, the use of serving robots has been increasing due to the increase in preference for non-face-to-face services and the rise in the minimum wage due to the coronavirus. When analyzing previous studies related to serving robots, it was confirmed that most of the studies on the functions and technologies of serving robots were conducted. Therefore, this study analyzed the factors affecting the attitude and customer satisfaction of restaurant consumers toward serving robots by adding performance expectations, effort expectations, and speed factors among the UTAUT2 models. The survey period was conducted from July 28, 2021 to September 9, 2021, and 306 out of a total of 310 surveys were used for analysis, excluding 4 unfaithful surveys. For the analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and hypothesis test were performed using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0, and the research results are as follows. First, it was found that performance expectation, effort expectation, and speed had a significant positive (+) effect on attitudes. Second, it was found that attitude had a significant positive (+) effect on customer satisfaction. This study researched customer selection attributes of robot service restaurants using the UTAUT2 model, and also provided academic and practical implications.

  • Simple regression models for pollutants load estimation of paddy developed by the Ministry of Environment in 1995 were tested with the data (T-N, T-P, $COD_{Mn}$, and SS) collected from Yeongsan and Seomjin river watersheds, and improvement measures were suggested. Overall, the simulated values showed a great difference from the measured values except for T-P according to the statistical analyses (RMSE, root mean square error; RMAE, root mean absolute error; RB, relative bias; EI, efficiency index). Such difference was assumed due to the fact that the models use only hydrologic factors (quantity factor) associated with precipitation and run-off as input parameters, but do not consider other factors which are likely to affect pollutant concentration (quality factor) including days after fertilization. In addition, in terms of accessibility of the models, some parameters in the models such as run-off depth and run-off amount which can not be obtained from the weather database but should be collected by on-site measurements need to be replaced with other variables.

  • This study investigated how self-rated health and socioeconomic status are associated with behaviour of cancer survivors regarding desire for information. For this association, we compared survivors who did not seek information about cancer with those who did. We examined how sociodemographic, socioeconomic, cancerrelated, and health information factors are associated with self-rated health (SRH) by health information seeking/avoiding behavior in a survey of 502 post-treatment cancer patients. In the information seeking group, all four factors exhibited significant relationships with SRH. SRH values were significantly high for women (p<0.05), non-Hispanic White (p<0.05), and educated (p<0.01) participants, and for those who had high self-efficacy to use health information by themselves (p<0.01). Furthermore, in the information avoiding group, not only were there no significant relationships between socioeconomic status (SES) and SRH, but there were negative associations between their attitude/capacity and the SRH. In terms of communication equity, the promotion of information seeking behavior can be an effective way to reduce health disparities that are caused by social inequalities. Information avoiding behavior, however, does not exhibit a negative contribution toward the relationship between SRH and SES. Information seeking behavior was positively associated with SRH, but avoiding behavior was not negatively associated. We thus need to eliminate communication inequalities using health intervention to support information seeking behavior, while simultaneously providing support for avoiders.

  • The article discusses the problems caused by inflation in the developing Asia-Pacific region during the time of the worldwide pandemic and suggests innovative solutions to the problem. The reality is that some of the commodity groups from the consumer basket (e.g., non-seasonal fruits, electronics, furniture, hotel, and restaurant services, etc.) fail to reflect the needs of the low-income earners, which make the majority in developing countries. At the same time, the inflation targeting regime has become outdated and not reliable, because of uncontrolled exogenic factors (imported inflation, fluctuation in oil prices, supply chain disruption, Russia-Ukraine war, etc.) prevailing on endogenic factors and thus making it impossible to control the price stability, especially in developing countries. Since, the old-fashioned inflation index and inflation targeting mechanisms regrettably fail to fully reflect both the society and governmental/central banks' expectations, based on which we first should have better care and second create better policies; we propose to use a combination of already well-known indexes and policies, with the new statistical indicators, which reflects price fluctuations on the medication, utilities, and nutrition.

  • Several types of pain occur following spinal cord injury (SCI); however, neuropathic pain (NP) is one of the most intractable. Invasive and non-invasive brain stimulation techniques have been studied in clinical trials to treat chronic NP following SCI. The evidence for invasive stimulation including motor cortex and deep brain stimulation via the use of implanted electrodes to reduce SCI-related NP remains limited, due to the small scale of existing studies. The lower risk of complications associated with non-invasive stimulation, including transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), provide potentially attractive alternative central neuromodulation techniques. Compared to rTMS, tDCS is technically easier to apply, more affordable, available, and potentially feasible for home use. Accordingly, several new studies have investigated the efficacy of tDCS to treat NP after SCI. In this review, articles relating to the mechanisms, clinical efficacy and safety of tDCS on SCI-related NP were searched from inception to December 2019. Six clinical trials, including five randomized placebo-controlled trials and one prospective controlled trial, were included for evidence specific to the efficacy of tDCS for treating SCI-related NP. The mechanisms of action of tDCS are complex and not fully understood. Several factors including stimulation parameters and individual patient characteristics may affect the efficacy of tDCS intervention. Current evidence to support the efficacy of utilizing tDCS for relieving chronic NP after SCI remains limited. Further strong evidence is needed to confirm the efficacy of tDCS intervention for treating SCI-related NP.

  • BACKGROUND: Soil bacteria play important roles in organic matter decomposition and nutrient cycling during the non-growing season. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of soil management and chemical properties on the utilization of carbon sources by soil bacteria in paddy fields. METHODS AND RESULTS: The Biolog EcoPlate was used for analyzing community-level carbon substrate utilization profiles of soil bacteria. Soils were collected from the following three types of areas: plain, interface and mountain areas, which were tested to investigate the topology effect. The results of canonical correspondence analysis and Kendall rank correlation analysis showed that soil C/N ratio and NH4+ influenced utilization of carbon sources by bacteria. The utilization of carbohydrates and complex carbon sources were positively correlated with NH4+ concentration. Cultivated paddy fields were compared with adjacent abandoned fields to investigate the impact of cultivation cessation. The level of utilization of putrescine was lower in abandoned fields than in cultivated fields. Monoculture fields were compared with double cropping fields cultivated with barley to investigate the impact of winter crop cultivation. Cropping system altered bacterial use of carbon sources, as reflected by the enhanced utilization of 2-hydroxy benzoic acid under monoculture conditions. CONCLUSION: These results show that soil use intensity and topological characteristics have a minimal impact on soil bacterial functioning in relation to carbon substrate utilization. Moreover, soil chemical properties were found to be important factors determining the physiological profile of the soil bacterial community in paddy fields.

  • A one-dimensional neutronics formulation is established within the framework of the nonlinear analytic nodal method such that it can result in consistent one-dimensional models that produce the same axial information as their corresponding reference three-dimension81 models. Consistency is achieved by conserving axial interface currents as well as the planar reaction rates of the three-dimensional case. For current conservation, flux discontinuity is introduced in the solution of the two-node problem. The degree of discontinuity, named the current conservation factor, is determined such that the surface averaged axial current of the reference three-dimensional case can be retrieved from the two-node calculation involving the radially collapsed group constants and the discontinuity factor. The current conservation factors are derived from the analytic nodal method and various core configurations are analyzed to show that the errors in K-eff and power distributions can be reduced by a order of magnitude by the use of the current conservation factor with no significant computational overhead.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relation among alcohol outcome expectancies, alcohol abstinence self-efficacy, perceived drinking norms and alcohol use. This study was conducted via e-mail. Among 392 students who were participated via E-mail, 300 students (male 148, female 152) were met a definition of Wechsler's binge drinking. The results revealed that perceived norms were associated with alcohol use in binge drinking group, while those were not in non-binge drinking group. It was identified that a difference of peer's actual alcohol consumption and peer's perceived drinking was associated with individual alcohol use. Moreover, for binge drinking group, perceived norms predicted alcohol use better than any other factors. Drinking motives mediated the relation with perceived norms and alcohol use. Especially perceived norms affected alcohol use not only by increasing drinking motives but also by itself. Implication of this study is to provide a basis of prevention and intervention of binge drinking for college students.
