Facile One-Pot Synthesis of 1,3,5-Trisubstituted Pyrazoles from α,β-Enones

  • A practical and efficient one-pot synthesis of 1,3,5-trisubstituted pyrazoles from ${\alpha},{\beta}$-enones and arylhydrazine hydrochlorides has been developed. The pyrazoles were formed via a tandem formation of the corresponding pyrazolines and an acid-catalyzed aerobic oxidation process.

Low-temperature Synthesis of Graphene-CdLa2S4 Nanocomposite as Efficient Visible-light-active Photocatalysts

  • We report the facile synthesis of graphene-$CdLa_2S_4$ composite through a facile solvothermal method at low temperature. The as-prepared products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and BET analysis, revealing the uniform covering of the graphene nanosheet with $CdLa_2S_4$ nanocrystals. The as-prepared samples show a higher efficiency for the photocatalytic degradation of typical MB dye compared with P25 and $CdLa_2S_4$ bulk nanoparticles. The enhancement of visible-light-responsive photocatalytic properties by decolorization of Rh.B dye may be attributed to the following causes. Firstly, graphene nanosheet is capable of accepting, transporting and storing electrons, and thus retarding or hindering the recombination of the electrons with the holes remaining on the excited $CdLa_2S_4$ nanoparticles. Secondly, graphene nanosheet can increase the adsorption of pollutants. The final cause is that their extended light absorption range. This work not only offers a simple way to synthesize graphene-based composites via a one-step process at low temperature but also a path to obtain efficient functional materials for environmental purification and other applications.

  • An efficient synthetic method of various 5-hydroxy-3-pyrrolin-2-one derivatives has been developed starting from the MBH adducts. In addition, some synthetic applicability of the prepared 5-hydroxy-3-pyrrolin-2-ones was demonstrated including the synthesis of lactam-fused tetrahydroisoquinolines.

  • Extensive research efforts are directed toward the development of highly sensitive gas sensors using novel nanostructured materials. Among the different strategies for producing sensor devices based on nanosized building blocks, polymeric fiber templating approach which is combined by chemical and physical synthesis routes was attracted much attention. This unique morphology increases the surface area and reduces the interfacial area between film and substrate. Consequently, the surface activity is markedly enhanced while deleterious interfacial effects between film and substrate are significantly reduced. Both effects are highly advantageous for gas sensing applications. In this presentation, facile synthesis of hollow and porous metal oxide nanostructures and their applications in chemical sensors will be discussed.

A Facile Synthesis of N,N'-Disubstituted Ureas from Amide and Amine by Using N-Bromophthalimide (NBP) and Silvercetate in One Pot

  • Various N,N'-disubstituted ureas 5 were easily prepared from the corresponding primary amide 1 by tratment with N-Bromophthalimide $(NBP)-AgOAc-RNH$_{2}$ 4 in dry N,N-dimrthylformamide (DMF). This reaction envolved the intemediate formation of isocyanate 3 from amide 1 via Hofmann rearrangement by treatment with AgOAc and NBP and nucleophilic addition of amine 4 to this isocyante 3. This method is simple enough to be applied to the synthesis of various N,N'-disubstututed ureas scale conviently.
