Cross-sectional analysis of arbitrary sections allowing for residual stresses

  • The method of cross-section analysis for different sections in a structural frame has been widely investigated since the 1960s for determination of sectional capacities of beam-columns. Many hand-calculated equations and design graphs were proposed for the specific shape and type of sections in pre-computer age decades ago. In design of many practical sections, these equations may be uneconomical and inapplicable for sections with irregular shapes, leading to the high construction cost or inadequate safety. This paper not only proposes a versatile numerical procedure for sectional analysis of beam-columns, but also suggests a method to account for residual stress and geometric imperfections separately and the approach is applied to design of high strength steels requiring axial force-moment interaction for advanced analysis or direct analysis. A cross-section analysis technique that provides interaction curves of arbitrary welded sections with consideration of the effects of residual stress by meshing the entire section into small triangular fibers is formulated. In this study, two doubly symmetric sections (box-section and H-section) fabricated by high-strength steel is utilized to validate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method against a hand-calculation procedure. The effects of residual stress are mostly not considered explicitly in previous works and they are considered in an explicit manner in this paper which further discusses the basis of the yield surface theory for design of structures made of high strength steels.

  • 최근 구조물의 고층화, 대형화 및 장스팬 활용 등의 요구로 고강도 고성능 재료의 건축물과 교량에의 적용이 증가하는 추세이다. 본 논문은 고성능강의 건축구조용 재료 특성과 고성능강재를 사용한 부재의 설계 기준을 위한 기본적인 연구의 일부이다. HSA800은 한국산업표준의 요건과 비교하였다. 용접 각형강관 기둥의 국부좌굴 거동과 현행 판폭두께비 설계 제한치를 검토 위하여 다양한 판폭두께비 변수를 계획하고, 단축압축실험을 실시하였다. 또한, 유한요소결과로 얻어낸 단주의 국부좌굴거동을 실험결과와 비교하였다.

  • 최근 구조물의 고층화, 대형화 및 장스팬 활용 등의 요구로 고강도 고성능 재료의 건축물과 교량에의 적용이 증가하는 추세이다. 본 논문은 고성능강(HSA800)의 건축구조용 재료 특성과 고성능강재를 사용한 부재의 설계 기준을 위한 기본적인 연구의 일부이다. 조립각형강관 기둥의 국부좌굴 거동과 현행 폭두께비 설계 제한치를 검토하기 위하여 다양한 폭두께비 변수를 계획하고, 단축압축실험을 실시하였다. 또한, 유한요소결과로 얻어낸 단주의 국부좌굴거동을 실험결과와 비교하였으며 검증된 해석모델을 이용하여 변수연구를 수행하였고 현행 설계기준의 적용성에 대해 검토하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 1/5 축소모형 철근콘크리트 기둥을 이용하여 철근의 노출길이 및 수직하중과 발파공수와의 관계에 대해 연구하였다. 축소모형 철근콘크리트 기둥에 수직하중을 재하하여 철근의 노출 길이와 발파공수와의 관계를 비교하였다. 또한 발파된 축소모형 기둥의 무게와 철근이 노출된 축소모형 기둥의 무게를 발파공수와 비교하였다. 축소모형 철근콘크리트 기둥에 대한 시험결과로부터 철근의 노출길이 및 수직하중을 바탕으로 축소모형 철근콘크리트 기둥의 발파공수를 산정할 수 있으며, 이를 축소모형 구조물에 적용할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

A New Steel Jacketing Method for Concrete Cylinders and Comparison of the Results with a Constitutive Model

  • This paper introduces a new steel jacketing method for reinforced concrete columns with lap splice and evaluates its performance by a series of axial tests of concrete cylinders. At first, 45 concrete cylinders were fabricated with varying the design compressive strengths of 21, 27 and 35 MPa and, then, the part of them was jacketed with two-split-steel jackets under lateral confining pressure. The parameters in the first test were the steel jacket's thickness and the existence of adhesive between steel and concrete surface. In the second test, whole steel jackets were used to wrap cylinders with lateral pressure. Also, a double-layer jacket consisted of two steel plates was introduced; a cylinder was jacketed by two steel plates one after another. The effect of the new method was verified through comparing the results of the compressive tests for plain and jacketed cylinders. The steel jacket built following the new method showed good results of increasing the compressive strength and ductility of the jacketed cylinders with respect to the plain cylinders. The thicker steel jackets showed the more increased compressive strength, and the ductility at failure depended on the welding quality on steel jackets. The adhesive between steel and concrete surface reduced the confining effect of the steel jackets. The whole jacket showed more ductile behavior than the two-split jackets. The double-layered jackets were estimated to possess an equal performance to that of a single steel jacket having the same thickness of the double-layered jacket. Finally, the experimental results were compared with the constitutive model of steel-jacketed concrete; which showed a good agreement between the experimental results and the models.

원형강관 기둥의 구조적인 거동 및 강도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Structural Behavior and the Strength of Circular Hollow Steel(CHS) Section Columns)

  • 본 논문에는 압측실험 결과에 근거한 원형강관의 구조적인 거동 및 설계강도에 대하여 기술하였다. 원형강관 기둥의 극한강도는 직경-두께비 및 세장비에 의하여 결정된다. 원형강관의 직경-두께비가 큰 경우 전체좌굴 발생 이전에 탄성 및 비탄성 국부좌굴이 일어나게 되어 기둥강도를 감소시키게 된다. 원형강관의 국부좌굴이 기둥강도에 미치는 영향을 연구하기 위하여 두께 2.8mm, 3.2 mm인 SM400 강판을 용접하여 직경-두께비 45에서 170까지인 원형강관을 제작하여 압축실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과에 따르면 직경-두께비가 현행 설계기준의 항복한계보다 작은 원형강관의 경우에도 비탄성국부좌굴이 발생하였으나 상당한 크기의 후좌굴강도를 보여 최대응력은 항복강도를 상회하였다. 도로교설계기준(2005)에 의한 허용응력은 실험결과와 비교하여 상당히 안전치로 나타났다. 최근에 개발된 직접강도법을 원형강관에 적용하기 위하여 실험 및 수치해석 결과와 비교한 결과, 제안된 직접강도법은 국부좌굴과 전체좌굴의 혼합 유무와 상관없이 원형강관 기둥의 극한강도를 적절하게 예측할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

  • A new thermal inkjet printer head on SOI wafer with virtual valve was proposed. It was composed of two rectangular heaters with same size. So we could call it T-jet(Twin jet). T-jet has a lot of merits. It has the advantage of being fabricated with one wafer and is easy to change the size of chamber, nozzle, restrictor and so on. However, above all, It is the best point that T-jet has a virtual valve. And it was manufactured on SOI wafer. The chamber was formed in its upper silicon whose thickness was 40um. The chamber's bottom layer was silicon dioxide of SOI wafer and two heaters were located underneath the chamber's ceiling. And the restirctor was made beside the chamber. Nozzle was molded by process of Ni plating. Ni was 30um thick. Nozzle ejection test was performed by printer head having 56 nozzles in 2 columns with 600NPI(nozzle per inch) and black ink. It measured a drop velocity of 12m/s, a drop volume of 30pl, and a maximum firing frequency of 12KHz for single nozzle ejection. Throwing out the ink drop in whole nozzles at the same time, it was observed that the uniformity of the drop velocity and volume was less than 4%.

CVD법에 의해 제작된 광촉매 TiO2 〈112〉 우선배향의 특성 (The Characteristics of 〈112〉-preferred Orientation for Photocatalytic TiO2 Fabricated by CVD)

  • The characteristics of <112> orientation were studied for the $TiO_2$thin films, which were prepared on the glass by CVD (chemical vapor deposition) at various substrate temperatures. It was confirmed that $TiO_2$ films exhibited <112>-preferred orientation in a specific temperature range. Although $TiO_2$polycrystalline film grown deposited at relatively low temperature showed the growth of random directions, the <112>-preferred orientation was gradually developed with increasing deposition temperature. According to exhibit higher degree of <112>-preferred orientation, $TiO_2$thin film showed porous surface morphology, well-developed columnar structure, and deeper voids resulted from non-aggregation of columns were observed. In addition, transmittance was enhanced. Therefore, the growth of $TiO_2$with <112>-preferred orientation is suitable for glass coating because of predominance of photocatalytic efficiency and transmittance.

Size Estimation of Concrete Structures Using the Impact Echo Method

  • This study aims to verify a method for accurately estimating the sizes of the column, slab, and beam members of concrete structures using the impact echo method, which is a nondestructive testing method. The concrete specimens are designed and fabricated with six single-layer frame specimens composed of columns, slabs, and beam members based on three strengths of 24, 30, and 40 MPa. To estimate the sizes of the members according to the member types of concrete structures, the experiment was performed using the impact echo method. As a result of estimating the sizes of the concrete column members using the impact echo method, the error rate is 2.9%. As a result of estimating the depth of the concrete beam members, the error rate is 9.7%. And, as a result of estimating the thickness of the concrete slab members, the error rate is 2.4%. These results confirmed that quality control of the members of concrete structures is possible by estimating their sizes using a non-destructive testing method.

레이저 홀로그래피 방법과 반응성 이온식각 방법을 이용한 InP/InGaAsP 광자 결정 구조 제작 (Nanofabrication of InP/InGaAsP 2D photonic crystals using maskless laser holographic method)

  • 레이저 홀로그래피 방법과 반응성 이온식각 방법(RIE: reactive ion etching)을 사용하여 2차원 광자결정을 제작하였다. 육변형(hexagonal) 및 사변형(square) 광자결정 격자는 첫 번째 레이저 노광 후 시편을 각각 60도 및 90도 회전하고 다시 두 번째 노광을 통하여 제작할 수 있었다. 또한 사변형 광자결정 격자의 나노컬럼(nanocolumn)의 크기와 주기는 레이저 입사각에 따라 각각 125∼145 nm, 220∼290 nm로 미세한 조정이 가능하였다. 마지막으로 CH$_4$/H$_2$ 가스를 이용한 반응성 이온식각 방법을 통하여 aspect ratio가 1.5 이상인 InP/InGaAsP nanocolumn을 제작 할 수 있었다.
