  • In modern fashion fabrics became an important element that leads the current of fashion beyond materials. Also, it has a creative role that reflects emotional and visual aspects, and it is considered as a mega trend that will lead the $21^{st}$ century fashion industry. The value of fashion products is affected not only by the style and design but also the sensuous properties like color, pattern, texture, and drape of fabrics. Therefore, in this study, characteristics of fabric trend between 2007 S/S and 2010 S/S will be analyzed focused on Premiere Vision, which influenced many Korean fashion trend information companies, while looking into the fabric trends shown in the world's top four collections-Paris, Milan, London, and New York-and Seoul collection, and comparing and analyzing the acceptance level of those. Fashion fabric is an important part in fashion design and change with social environment and value, its considered that the role and importance of subject matters increases in changing fashion design toward globalization by meeting various personality which is diversified more and more. It is to provide specific and practical data to be used for the Korean fashion industry, which can be used as useful information for future fabric researchers and people in the fashion industry for integrated study of fashion design and fashion fabric.

  • Recently the construction of residential buildings faces many difficulties due to the shortage of building materials and works. Simplifying the stage of processing and assembling reinforcing rods and increasing the efficiency of them in reinforced concrete construction can be used to settle the difficulties. In the respect, structural wire-fabric and loop wire-fabric is utilized. The purpose of this study, on condition of being $210kg/cm^2$ concrete strength, is to analyze the structural and flexural properties of one-way concrete slabs by testing with different reinforcing type, tensile steel ratio based with minimum steel ratio, boundary condition and splice length which affect the maximum width of crack and ductility factor. From the test results, the ductility factor is approved that the slabs using deformed bar were much better than that using wire-fabric, and 30D of splice length was appropriate in the slabs as splice length. In the control of the maximum crack width the slabs using wire-fabric and loop wire-fabric were much better than that using deformed bar.

Polyester (PET) Fabric dyed with Lead (II) acetate-based Colorimetric Sensor for Detecting Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) (황화수소(H2S) 감지를 위한 아세트산 납이 침염된 폴리에스터(PET) 섬유 기반의 변색성 센서)

  • In this study, the colorimetric sensor, polyester (PET) fabric dyed with lead (II) acetate (Pb(C2H3O2)2), was fabricated and characterized for the detection of the hydrogen sulfide (H2S). The surface morphology of the fabric was determined using scanning electron microscope and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The optical properties of the fabric were evaluated by measuring the variation in the blue value of an RGB sensor. The fabric showed a significant color change, high linearity (R2 : 0.98256), and fast response time (< 1.0 s) when exposed to H2S. This is because the sensor is highly porous and permeable to the gas. The fabric can not only be used as a hydrogen sulfide sensor but also be used to detect and prevent H2S influx using sticky tape on pipelines.

  • The effect of additives in final rinse water during laundering on soiling, soil removal and some properties of fabrics has been studied with various fabrics. The additives examined were fabric softener (Sta-Puf), cationic surfactant (Apole PS), sizing materials such as CMC, PYA, cornstarch and mixture of CMC and cationic surfactant. The results obtained may be summerized as follows. L Addition of additives except PVA in final rinse water generally reduce the deposition of carbon-$CCl_4$ soil and it seems to be rather independant of the concentration of additives. The effect of additives on soil resistant is found to increase in the following order. cotton; Apole

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the structural characteristics of men's suit fabrics on the texture image and the preference, and to analyze the relationship between the preference and the practical sales ratio. In addition, the texture images and the preference of fabric and jackets made of the same fabrics were compared. As specimen, jackets for men's suit of 2002' S/S and their fabrics were collected. Questionnaires composed of 22 sensibility related and 21 fabric image related adjectives were developed. For the subjective evaluation of the texture image, both jackets and fabric samples were tested. Tests were performed with 100 female subjects in clothing department and apparel industry. For the objective evaluation, structural characteristics such as fiber contents, yarn twist, fabric count, thickness and weight were analyzed. Total Hand Value were calculated from mechanical properties determined by the KES-FB system. Factor analysis showed sensibilities were classified into 6 categories; "surface roughness", "weight", "density", "stiffness", "elasticity" and "wetness". Fabric images were classified into 4 categories; "classic", "original", "practical", and "stuffy". Depending on the method to show the specimen to the subjects, whether it is suit or fabric, statistically significant differences were observed with a number of adjectives for sensibilities and fabric images. The results of THV of KES did not agree with the preference of subjects, which suggests that we should be careful when using the KES system, which was developed for Japanese people. Price was considered to be another factor besides the texture image that influenced on purchase.
