영상분석을 통한 LED 광원에 대한 볼락 (Sebastes inermis)의 행동 연구 (A study for behavior analysis of rockfish (Sebastes inermis) corresponding to the LED light by image analysis)

  • In order to establish the basic data for the active use of the LED light source in the aquaculture industry, the experiment about the behavior of rockfish (Sebastes inermis) corresponding to the LED light was conducted by image analysis. LED lights for the experiment were one red light (wave length: 622 nm; light power: 811 mW) and two green lights (wave length: 518 nm; light power: 648 mW, wave length: 518 nm; light power: 810 mW). Behavior of the rockfish was analyzed using a moving distance (MD5) for 5 minutes where MD5s during the period of feeding were 20.0 m, 19.6 m, 16.3 m and 20.5 m in the ch1, ch2, ch3 and ch4. At the sunrise, mean MD5 of the entire channel about right before and right after were 6.3 m and 8.2 m. At the sunrise, mean MD5s of the entire channel about right before and right after were 13.6 m and 12.0 m. In the ch1, ch2 and ch3, mean MD5s during the period of 24 hours were 13.2 m, 9.6 m and 6.8 m at experiment 1and 5.2 m, 3.8 m and 2.9 m in the experiment 2.

  • The media transport system is used in a printer, a ATM(Automated Tellor Machine), and so on. The media transport system has many problems through miniaturization and rapid transportation of these machines. In the paper feeding mechanism, it is important to feed the sheet without jamming under any conditions. To avoid sheet jamming, first we need to predict the behavior of the sheet exactly. In this paper, the analysis of media behavior is based on J. Stolte's studies. In all of OA machines, a flexible beam or plate is pushed from the channel. The motion may be constrained by guides. This leads to a transient and geometrically nonlinear problem. The behavior of paper is simulated by dynamic elastica theory. The shape of guide is represented by parametric cubic curve. But J. Stolte's studies did not considered contact condition between sheet and guide. So Klarbring's Model. will be applied. And the analysis of flexible media has to include aerodynamic effect for more exact behavior analysis, because the flexible media can be deformed drastically by a little force. Therefore aerodynamic force must be applied to the governing equation. Lastly, the simulation of this model is performed, and the experiment is performed for verification of this model. The experimental results of low exit velocity are consistent with the simulation results, however experimental results of high exit velocity do not agree well with analytical results. 강원도 군지역 유아들의 구강관리 행태와 치아 우식증 (Dental Caries and Oral Health Behavior of Kindergarten Children in a County Area of Kangwondo)

  • In order to investigate dental caries and oral health status of Kindergarten children, a study was conducted from 1st December, 2000 to 21st January 2001. The subjects were consisted of 117 toddler and pre-school children who were enrolled in 4 kindergartens in a county of Kangwondo. A structured questionnaire was used for dental health behavior and dental examination was given by dentist for detecting dental caries The result were as follows: 1. As for the oral health behavior, 71.8% of subjects brushed their tooth twice a day, 18.8% of them once a day, 8.5% of them 3 times a day and 0.9% of them do not brushed. 68.6% of children brushed their teeth in the morning and evening, 20.7% of them before go to bed, 7.4%, and 2.5% of them after meal and before brak first. 71.7% of children used combined with scrubbing and vertical method, 28.3% of them used scrubbing method. 61.5% of their mother answered they observed oral status of children regularly. 2. Prevalence rate of dental caries (dft) was 68.4%. The prevalence rate of dft were significantly higher in the old age children, mother's lower educational level. nourishing with breast feeding, using bottle, irregular eating of snacks 3. Mean dft was 2.95 ; decayed and filled teeth was 1.97 and 0.98, respectively. The mean dft were significantly higher in the old age children, mother's lower educational level

The effect of different colored light emitting diode illumination on egg laying performance, egg qualities, blood hormone levels and behavior patterns in Brown Tsaiya duck

  • Objective: The objective of this experiment was to investigate the effects of different colors produced by light emitting diode (LED) on Brown Tsaiya ducks. Methods: A total of 144 female Brown Tsaiya ducks were randomly allocated into three individual cage rearing chambers with different LED illumination colors as treatments. Three different treatments were: i) white color, ii) blue color, and iii) red color. The experiment periods were from ducks 21 to 49 weeks of age, determined traits included i) egg laying performance, ii) feed intake, iii) egg shell breaking strength, iv) egg shell thickness, v) egg Haugh unit, vi) egg weight, vii) serum Estradiol and Progesterone concentration, and viii) behavior pattern. Results: The results indicated that when compared with white and blue color, red color could stimulate ducks sexual maturation and raised the egg laying performance. The red light group was also observed to have the highest feed intake among three treatments. The blue treatment had the lowest egg shell breaking strength and the highest egg weight among three treatments, nevertheless, no significant difference was observed among three treatments on egg shell thickness and egg Haugh unit. The red light group had higher serum estradiol concentration than the white and blue groups, but no significant difference among treatments on the serum Progesterone concentration was found. The results of behavior pattern indicated that red light group showed more feeding and less resting behavior compared to the blue light group. Conclusion: We found a potential of applying red light illumination in the indoor laying duck raising system with positive results on egg laying performance and acceptable egg weight, equivalent egg qualities compared to white and blue light.

Mukbang and Cookbang watching and dietary behavior in Korean adolescents

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Given that adolescents watch Mukbang (eating broadcast) more frequently than other age groups, interest in the potential health effects of watching Mukbang and Cookbang (cooking broadcast) is growing. This study aimed to determine the status of watching Mukbang and Cookbang among Korean adolescents and its relationship with their dietary behaviors. SUBJECTS/METHODS: We used data from the 18th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey, conducted in 2022 (n = 51,850). The study included the frequency of watching Mukbang and Cookbang and the self-rated impact of watching them. Dietary behaviors included consumption of the following items: fruits (≥ once a day), vegetables (≥ 3 times a day), fast foods (≥ 3 times a week), late-night snacks (≥ 3 times a week), caffeinated drinks (≥ 3 times a week), and sweet-flavored drinks (≥ 3 times a week). Furthermore, obesity, weight loss attempts during the past 30 days, body image distortion, and inappropriate methods to control weight were also included. RESULTS: Among adolescents, 70.6% watched Mukbang and Cookbang, and 13.2% watched them more than 5 times a week. Approximately 27.6% of the adolescents responded that they were influenced by watching Mukbang and Cookbang. Adolescents who frequently watched Mukbang and Cookbang consumed less vegetable and fruit; however, the likelihood of consuming fast food, late-night snacks, sugary drinks, and caffeinated drinks increased. In addition, they were more likely to attempt inappropriate weight-loss methods and become obese. Adolescents who responded that their eating habits were influenced by watching Mukbang and Cookbang were more likely to have unhealthy eating behavior compared to the group who responded that their habits were not influenced by these shows. CONCLUSION: Watching Mukbang and Cookbang is common among Korean adolescents and is associated with unhealthy dietary behaviors. Prospective studies, including broadcasting content, should evaluate the impact of Mukbang and Cookbang on health.

EFFECTS OF ALTERNATING 6-HOUR LIGHT/DARK CYCLES ON THE RUMINATING BEHAVIOR OF FASTED GOATS

  • Experiments were conducted to study the effects of a dark (06:00-12:00), light (12:00-18:00), dark (18:00-24:00), and light (00:00-06:00) cycle on the ruminating behavior of five fasting female goats. Rumination time and number of boli were not different in the dark and light periods of the fed state or in the second and third days of fasting. Ruminating time and number of boli increased in the dark (06:00-12:00) period compared to the light (12:00-18:00) period during the first day of fasting. Ruminating time was higher after the first day of fasting than the fed state, and decreased substantially after the first day of fasting than the fed state, and decreased substantially after the second and third days of fasting compared to the fed state or the first day of fasting. Number of boli/day was not different among the fed state, the second and third days of fasting but was higher after the first day fasting compared to the fed state.

유아의 대물애착현상에 관한 연구(I) (A Study on Object Attachment in Infant and Early Childhood(I))

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate to what extent and how the infant's Object Attachment occurs. For this purpose, 28 mothers with their infants showing or having shown this phenomenon were interviewed. They were selected by the whole scale smpling method from 310 household -wives living at a delux Apt. in Seoul. The results are summarized as follows : 1. About 27% of the infants aged between 6 months and 6 years turned out to show this phenomenon. 2. Qulits, bed clothes, pillows and blankets, which infants have been closely contacted since their babyhood, were the major source of attachment objects. In general, these objects were proved to have soft, wasm, smooth, and glassy tactile sensation. 3.This phenomenon, in average, appeared since 13 months after birth, About 50% of the whole began to show this phenomenon between 9 and 14 month after birth. 4. Half of the infants didn't show a change of attachment strength, but as for the other half, the attachment strength increased after one year of age, and decreased after three years of age, as the social period commenced. 5. Infants needed attachment objects especially when they were driven by sleep, sense of emptiness, and monotonous or boring feeling. 6. There were little difference between Object Attachment behavior and motherinfant attachment behavior except "babbling", "using her as a base for exploration". Those behaviors did not appear in Object Attachment. 7. mothers said that their children's attachment objects played the role of substitute mother, pacificater, warmer, friend , etc. And they attributed this phenomenon's appearance to lack their physical contact with, ocnstant and warm care toward, their children or bottle feeding.

낙동강 생태계에서의 외래종 뉴트리아 확산과 근절의 동태성 분석 (Analysis on the Dynamics of Distribution and Eradication of Nutria on Nakdong River Area)

  • Nutria(Myocastor coypus) is one of the most notorious invasive species in many countries. The Nutria's original range was South America like Brazil, Chile and Argentina. But it has been introduced to North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia including Korea, by fur ranchers. Like most invasive and disturbing species, nutria not only destroys habitats but also impacts many native species throughout most of its range with destructive feeding behavior. The purpose of this study is to investigate the dynamics of survival mechanism, population increase and spatial distribution, and eradication effect of Nutria on Nakdong River Area with the systems thinking. The result of this study revealed that Nutria can survive during winter with the behavior that the colder the winter was, the more deeply it burrowed. Further, the study uncovered the dynamics that nutria has survived more and more strongly during the extreme cold winter in almost every region and their population has increased dramatically as a result of the uncontrolled reproduction. Finally, the result showed that the action delay in eradicating Nutria, which was originated from the information delay of perception of nutria's survival and reproduction structure, reinforced the spread of Nutria across the nation.

하늘다람쥐(Pteromys volans) 배설습성과 조사기법 개선방안 연구 (A Study on Dropping Behavior and Survey Improvement Methods for Siberian Flying Squirrel(Pteromys volans))

  • To identify the characteristics of the dropping habits and to provide improved methods for sign survey of Siberian flying squirrels Pteromys volans, an investigation was carried out in Jirisan National Park from April 2012 to May 2013. The latrines of study area were checked once a month and the characteristics of dropping behavior were camera trapped. The feces of Siberian flying squirrel were found on the point which tree forked, mostly from November to May. The squirrel actively presents in forked tree mainly on the September to April. The Siberian flying squirrel is found to be a typical nocturnal animal as it actively move between 6p.m. to 7a.m.. The study found that squirrel does feeding and dropping in the winter time on forked tree. On the point which tree forked could be a good place for the squirrel to hide from their predator when there is no leaf on the tree. Conducting the sign survey is advisable from November to May, as well as with the careful approach to the animals. As Siberian flying squirrel is an endangered species, adjusting the survey period is mandatory, especially when doing environmental impact assessment and a research on its dwelling areas.

다단식 산란계 사육시설에서의 산란계 행동변화 (Behavioral Changes of Laying Hens in an Aviary System)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the behavioral changes of laying hens in an aviary system. In this study, 500 laying hens (Hyline brown) were held in an aviary system in a open-type poultry house. The behaviors of laying hens were recorded using CCD cameras and a digital video recorder. The data were scanned every 2 min to obtain an instantaneous behavioral sample. In the behaviors of laying hens, 'Feeding' and 'Drinking' increased from 3 d placing chick and stabilized after 5 d placing chick. 'Perching' increased from 19:00 to 05:00, while 'Nest visiting' increased from 06:00 to 18:00. 'Aggressive behavior' decreased gradually after 5 d placing chick. These results suggest that the behaviors of laying hens are changed rapidly for about 5 days after placing chick and the behaviors of the laying hens are almost stabilized at 5 d placing chick.
