열분해법과 혼합가스 질화법으로 합성한 FePtN 나노 입자의 특성 (Characterization of FePtN Nano-particles Synthesized by Thermal Decomposition and Mixed-gas Nitrification)

  • 열분해법으로 합성한 FePt 나노입자를 $NH_3+H_2$ 혼합가스 질화법으로 상변태와 동시에 질화시킨 FePtN 나노입자의 특성을 분석하였다. 초기 합성된 FePt 나노입자는 fcc 구조를 가졌으며, 보자력과 포화자화는 각각 247.34 Oe와 27.308 emu/g를 나타내었다. 혼합가스 질화법으로 열처리한 입자는 XRD 분석 결과 fcc 구조에서 fct 구조로 상변태가 진행되었으며, 열처리 온도의 증가에 따라 (111) 피크의 $2{\theta}$가 shift되는 특성을 나타내었다. fct 구조의 FePtN의 보자력과 포화자화는 각각 1058.2 Oe and 32.718 emu/g를 나타내었으며, 합성된 FePtN 나노자성입자는 고밀도 자기기록매체와 생체의료 분야에서의 응용이 기대 된다.

화학적인 환원 공정에 의한 FePt 나노입자의 합성 (Synthesis of FePt Nanoparticles by Chemical Reduction Process)

  • FePt nanoparticles for high-density magnetic recording media were synthesized by the simultaneous chemical reduction of Fe(acac) $_2$ and Pt(acac) $_2$ with 1,2-hexadecanediol as the reducing reagent. TEM images showed that the shape of as-synthesized FePt nanoparticle was spherical and average particle size was 3 nm. Also, SAD pattern showed that crystal structure was disordered FCC (face centered cubic). These FCC structured nanoparticles were transformed FCT (face centered tetragonal) structure by annealing at 55$0^{\circ}C$ for 30 min in Ar atmosphere. XRD analysis revealed that as-synthesized FePt nanoparticles were transformed from disordered FCC to ordered FCT. Finally, the coercivity of 2 kOe for FePt nanoparticles with FCT structure was obtained by VSM measurement.

  • 기체 방전의 수치적 시뮬레이션을 위하여 FE-FCT(Finite-Element Flux-Corrected Transport) 방법을 이용한 준 2차원 수치적 모델을 제시한다. 이 모델에서는 전자와 이온에 대한 1차원 연속방정식을 풀어 시 공간적으로 변하는 전하 분포를 계산하고, 공간 전하 분포에 의한 전기장의 변화는 2차원적 전하 분포를 고려하는 디스크 방법을 적용하여 푸아송(Poisson)방정식을 풀어 계산한다. 다양한 벤치마크 문제에 대해 계산한 결과는 이 모델의 정확성과 적용성을 잘 보여준다. 또 스트리머 방전에 대해 계산한 결과는 앞선 연구 결과와 잘 일치하는 것을 보여 준다.

Magnetic and Ordering Behavior of Nb-doped FePt Alloy Films

  • The magnetic properties and ordering behavior of Nb-doped FePt alloy films prepared by dc-magnetron sputtering were investigated. It was found that Nb addition retarded the ordering reaction from the disordered face-centered-cubic (fcc) Al phase to the ordered face-centered-tetragonal (fct) L10 phase. The tetragonality (c/a ratio) of the ordered fct L10 phase increased with the Nb concentration. Nb addition hampered c-axis contraction during ordering, probably because the larger Nb atoms occupy Pt sites. Consequently, the coercivity and magnetocrystalline anisotropic energy of Nb-doped FePt alloy films are lower than those of un-doped FePt film under equivalent annealing conditions.

  • Multi-layer film of $MgO/(FePt-B)_{50nm}/ MgO$ was deposited on Si(100) substrates by RF magnetron sputtering. The boron chips were uniformly placed oil tile FePt target. The boron content of thin film was found to be about 5, 10, 15, 25 and $33 at\%$ by using a CAMECA SX-51 wavelength dispersive spectroscopy (WDX). It is observed that X-ray diffraction patterns of FePt-B film by post-annealing exhibited a transformation from disordered fcc structure to ordered $Ll_0$ phase with fct structure from around $400^{\circ}C$. By adding B, annealing temperature for ordering is about $200^{\circ}C$ lower than that of pure FePt. This remarkable decrease of the annealing temperature is closely related to the high diffusivities of Fe and Pt associated with the defects caused by movements of B atoms. The maximum coercivity(Hc) for FePt films was found to be ${\~}$13 kOe after annealing at $600^{\circ}C$ for 1hr.

기상합성공정을 이용한 FePt 나노입자의 실시간 L10 상변화 (Real-time Transformation of FePt Nanoparticles to L10 Phase by the Gas Phase Synthesis)

  • Real-time formation of $L1_0$ phase of FePt nanoparticles in the gas phase during ultrasonic-spray pyrolysis is first discussed in the present study. Without any post heat treatment, $L1_0$ phase of FePt nanoparticles appeared at the temperature above $900^{\circ}C$ in the gas phase synthesis. X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies revealed that FePt nanoparticles less than 10 nm in size contained small volume of $L1_0$ fct phase. However, in other samples obtained at the temperature below $900^{\circ}C$, iron oxide phase co-existed and no evidence of phase transformation was found. Thus, it is anticipated that the time of flight of particles required for crystallization and phase transformation was extended according to the increase of the collision rate. Finally, magnetic properties represented by coercivity and saturation magnetization and functional groups on the particle surface were discussed based on VSM and FT-IR results.

  • The crystallization of FePt/MgO(100) magnetic thin films of various thicknesses has been studied using synchrotron x-ray scattering, atomic force microscope, and vibrating sample magnetometer. In film with a 500-${\AA}$-thick, ordered (fct) FePt phase was dominantly crystallized into perpendicular (001) grains keeping the magnetically easy c-axis normal to the film plane during annealing. In film with a 812-${\AA}$-thick, however, longitudinal (110) grains keeping the c-axis parallel to the film plane were grown on top of the perpendicular (001) grains. The behavior of the magnetic properties was consistent with the thickness dependence of the crystallization. We attribute the thickness dependence of the crystallization to the substrate effect, which prefers the growth of the c-axis oriented perpendicular grains near the film/substrate interfacial area.

이차 열처리가 PtMn계 스핀밸브의 거대자기저항 특성에 미치는 영향 (The Second Annealing Effect on Giant Magnetoresistance Properties of PtMn Based Spin Valve)

  • DC 마그네트론 방식으로 제조한 PtMn계 상부층형(top) 스핀밸브 박막을 반강자성층인 PtM의 fcc (111) 구조에서 fat (111)구조 천이를 위하여 27$0^{\circ}C$에서 3 kOe의 외부자장을 가해주면서 일차적인 열처리를 한 후, 이차적으로 무자장 열처리를 하여 상온에서 자기적 특성을 조사하였다. Si/A1$_2$O$_3$ (500$\AA$)/Ta(50$\AA$)NiFe(40$\AA$)/CoFe(17$\AA$)/Cu(28$\AA$)/CoFe (30$\AA$)PtMn(200$\AA$)Ta(50$\AA$) top 스핀밸브 시료에서 자기저항비를 조사한 결과 열처리 온도가 높아질수록 자기저항비가 완만히 감소하나 325 $^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 급격히 감소하여 1 %까지 감소하는 것을 확인하였으며, 이것은 열처리 온도가 높아질수록 반강자성층과 피고정층사이의 교환 결합력이 약해지는 것에 기인하는 것으로 판단하였다. 열처리 온도 증가에 따른 교환 바이어스 자장은 325 $^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 급격히 감소하였고, 고정층과 자유층사이의 상호 결합 세기(interlayer coupling field, $H_{int}$)는 $325^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 크게 증가하였는데, 이것은 열처리 온도가 증가함에 다라 Mn의 상호 확산(inter-diffusion)dl 증가하여 계면에서의 거칠기(roughness)가 커지기 때문이라고 생각하였다. 이와 같은 결과에서 PtMn 스핀밸브의 급격한 자기적 특성변화가 일어나는 열처리 온도가 PtMn계 스핀밸브 박막의 블로킹 온도(blocking temperature, $T_b$)와 잘 일치함을 호가인할 수 있었다.
