내부 환보강 T형 관이음부의 정적강도 (Static Strength of Ring-stiffened Tubular T-joints)

  • Tubular joints having a large diameter in the offshore structure are reinforced using internal ring stiffener in order to increase the load carrying capacity. In this study, the static strengths of internally ring-stiffened tubular T-joints subjected to compressive brace loading are assessed. Nonlinear finite element analyses are used to compute the behavior of unstiffened and ring-stiffened T-joints. From the numerical results, internal ring stiffener is found to efficient in improving the ultimate capacity, and reinforcement effect are calculated. The influence of geometric parameters for members and ring is evaluated. Based on the FE results, regression analysis is performed considering practical sizes of ring stiffener, finally strength estimation formulae for ring-stiffened T-joints are proposed.

Flexural performance of composite walls under out-of-plane loads

  • This paper presents a new structural system to use as retaining walls. In civil works, there is a general trend to use traditional reinforced concrete (RC) retaining walls to resist soil pressure. Despite their good resistance, RC retaining walls have some disadvantages such as need for huge temporary formworks, high dense reinforcing, low construction speed, etc. In the present work, a composite wall with only one steel plate (steel-concrete) is proposed to address the disadvantages of the RC walls. In the proposed system, steel plate is utilized not only as tensile reinforcement but also as a permanent formwork for the concrete. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed SC composite system, an experimental program that includes nine SC composite wall specimens is developed. In this experimental study, the effects of different parameters such as distance between shear connectors, length of shear connectors, concrete ultimate strength, use of compressive steel plate and compressive steel reinforcement are investigated. In addition, a 3D finite element (FE) model for SC composite walls is proposed using the finite element program ABAQUS and load-displacement curves from FE analyses were compared against results obtained from physical testing. In all cases, the proposed FE model is reasonably accurate to predict the behavior of SC composite walls under out-of-plane loads. Results from experimental work and numerical study show that the SC composite wall system has high strength and ductile behavior under flexural loads. Furthermore, the design equations based on ACI code for calculating out-ofplate flexural and shear strength of SC composite walls are presented and compared to experimental database.

SM490 TMC 강재의 반복소성모델의 정식화 및 유한요소해석 (Formulation of Cyclic Plasticity Model and FE Analysis for SM490 TMC)

  • In this paper, cyclic plasticity model of SM490 TMC was formulated by basing on monotonic loading test and cyclic loading test. For exact description of cyclic performance and plastic deformation capacity of steel member using SM490 TMC, formulated cyclic plasticity model and finite deformation theory were applied to 3-dimensional elastic-plastic FE analysis. Cyclic plastic behavior of pipe-section steel column using SM490 TMC was clarified by carrying out numerical analysis. Also, in order to clarifying seismic performance of pipe-section steel column using SM490 TMC, analysis results were compared with analysis results of pipe-section steel column using SM490. A comparison of analysis results shows that SM490 TMC pipe-section steel column has a better cyclic performance for strength and energy dissipation than SM490 pipe-section steel column under cyclic loading

  • Ni(Fe)Al powders containing a homogeneous distribution of the in-situ formed AIN and $Al_2O_3$ dispersoids have been produced by mechanical alloying process in a controlled atmosphere using high energy attrition mill. The powders have been successfully consolidated by hot extrusion process. The phase information investigated by TEM and XRD analysis reveals that Fe can be soluble up to 20% to the NiAl phase ($\beta$) at room temperature after MA process. Subsequent thermomechanical treatment under specific condition has been tried to induce secondary recrystallization (SRx) to improve high temperature properties, however, the clear evidence of SRx was not obtained in this material. Mechanical properties in term of strength at room temperature as well as at high temperatures have been improved by the addition pf AIN, and the room temperature ductility has been shown to be improved after heat treatment, presumably due to the precipitation of second phase of $\alpha$ in this material.

표면이 가교된 Crosslinked Poly(sodium acrylate) 흡수제가 첨가된 시멘트 모르타르의 강도 특성 연구 (Studies on the Strength of Cement Mortars with Surface Crosslinked cPSA Absorbent)

  • 콘크리트 제조 시 사용되는 잉여수를 지연 흡수시키기 위하여 역유화중합법으로 중합된 가교 poly(sodium acrylate)(cPSA)를 ethylene glycol dimethacrylate(EGDMA) 5, 10 및 20 g을 사용하여 표면 가교시켰다. 표면 가교제 첨가량이 다른 cPSA-EGDMA를 시멘트 질량의 0.5, 1.0 및 1.5 wt% 각각 첨가하여 모르타르의 압축 및 휨강도를 측정하였다. 그 결과 cPSA-EGDMA(20 g)을 0.5 wt% 첨가한 모르타르의 압축강도는 무첨가 시멘트에 비하여 낮게 나타났으나 다른 cPSA-EGDMA 첨가 모르타르는 높게 나타났다. 그 중 특히 cPSA-EGDMA(5 g)을 1.0 wt% 첨가한 모르타르는 무첨가 모르타르의 압축강도(26.8 MPa)와 휨강도(2.52 MPa)와 비교하면 압축강도는 약 16%, 휨강도는 약 10% 증가로 가장 높게 나타났다. 그리고 공극률이 압축강도와 휨강도에 미치는 영향을 측정하기 위하여, 이들 모르타르의 FE-SEM 분석 및 porosity를 측정하였다. FE-EM 분석결과 팽윤된 cPSA-EGDMA(5 g)이 칼슘 실리케이트 수화물(C-S-H) 결정들 사이를 채우고 있는 것으로 확인되었다. cPSA-EGDMA를 첨가한 모르타르의 porosity 측정결과 무첨가 시멘트 모르타르에 비하여 모두 낮아진 가운데, 특히 cPSA-EGDMA(5 g) 1.0 wt% 첨가한 모르타르는 무첨가 시멘트 모르타르(20.1%)보다 porosity가 16.5%로 가장 낮게 나타났다.

Finite-element analysis and design of aluminum alloy RHSs and SHSs with through-openings in bending

  • This paper presents a finite-element analysis (FEA) of aluminum alloy rectangular hollow sections (RHSs) and square hollow sections (SHSs) with circular through-openings under three-point and four-point bending. First, a finite-element model (FEM) was developed and validated against the corresponding test results available in the literature. Next, using the validated FE models, a parametric study comprising 180 FE models was conducted. The cross-section width-to-thickness ratio (b/t) ranged from 2 to 5, the hole size ratio (d/h) ranged from 0.2 to 0.8 and the quantity of holes (n) ranged from 2 to 6, respectively. Third, results obtained from laboratory test and FEA were compared with current design strengths calculated in accordance with the North American Specifications (NAS), the modified direct strength method (DSM) and the modified Continuous strength method (CSM). The comparison shows that the modified CSM are conservative by 15% on average for aluminum alloy RHSs and SHSs with circular through-openings subject to bending. Finally, a new design equation is proposed based on the modified CSM after being validated with results obtained from laboratory test and FEA. The proposed design equation can provide accurate predictions of flexural capacities for aluminum alloy RHSs and SHSs with circular through-openings.

정강도를 고려한 상부 컨트롤 암의 구조설계 (Structural Design of an Upper Control Arm, Considering Static Strength)

  • This study proposes a structural design method for the upper control arm installed at the rear side of a SUV. The weight of control arm can be reduced by applying the design and material technologies. In this research, the former includes optimization technology, and the latter the technologies for selecting aluminum as a steel-substitute material. Strength assessment is the most important design criterion in the structural design of a control arm. At the proto design stage of a new control arm, FE (finite element) analysis is often utilized to predict its strength. This study considers the static strength in the optimization process. The inertia relief method for FE analysis is utilized to simulate the static loading conditions. According to the classification of structural optimization, the structural design of a control arm is included in the category of shape optimization. In this study, the kriging interpolation method is adopted to obtain the minimum weight satisfying the strength constraint. Optimum designs are obtained by ANSYS WORKBENCH and the in-house program, EXCEL-kriging program. The optimum results determined from the in-house program are compared with those of ANSYS WORKBENCH.

  • 곡률을 갖고 있는 쉘 부재들은 선박 및 육상구조 내에서 캠버와 선수, 선미, 파이프 및 저장용 탱크에 주로 사용되고 있다. 이러한 곡률 쉘 부재들은 기본적으로 원통형 실린더 부재의 일부라고 간주할 수 있다. 일반적으로 곡률의 존재는 압축하중 작용 시 좌굴강도 및 최종강도를 증가시키는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 영향을 확인하기 위하여 탄성대변형 시리즈해석을 수행하였으며, 매개변수의 영향을 분석하였다. 실린더의 최종강도 거동은 초기처짐과 해석모델링 방법에 큰 영향을 받는 것을 확인하였다.

  • Hyundai Rotem Company has designed and manufactured the next generation high speed EMU bodyshell (M3-car). Korean Railway Safety Law specifies the loads vehicle bodies shall be capable of withstanding, identifies what material data shall be used and presents the principles to be used for design verification by analysis. Therefore, in order to fulfill the structural requirements, Hyundai Rotem Company has carried out Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and static load test to verify whether the carbody structure has enough strength to withstand the loads specified by Korean Railway Safety Law. This research contains the results obtained by the FE analysis and static load test. The FE analysis is carried out using NX I-DEAS 6.1 and specially designed test jigs and equipment are used for the load tests.

  • In this study, it is investigated that sheet characteristics of high strength steel sheets and effect of springback. High strength steel sheets has got attention in automobile industry of high strength and high formability. Springback is a common phenomenon in sheet metal forming, caused by the elastic recovery of the internal stresses after removal of the tooling. However, the information in deformation behavior of high strength steel sheets, including bending and sheet characteristics and springback, is not enough until now. In this research, the V-bending experiment and analysis have been done to obtain the information of springback of high strength steel sheets. Tensile test for high strength steel sheets was done to got tensile properties of elastic modulus and flow stress of the material. It analyzed springback according to the sheet characteristics with using roll-forming model. FE-Simulation used DEFORM-$3D^{TM}$.
