  • Control of pressure transients in a hydraulic system may be important and necessary to avoid failures and to improve the efficiency of operation. Flow restricting devices can result in a decrease in the peak pressure, but may change the response time. The response time has an important effect on both operator and operator perceived smoothness. The response time should correspond to how fast a system responds to a given disturbance at the system boundary. Occasionally the appropriate response time is not easily determined. This study is on the response time characteristics in the hydraulic system studied for the control of response time.

Improved Watershed Image Segmentation Using the Morphological Multi-Scale Gradient

  • In this paper, we present an improved multi-scale gradient algorithm. The proposed algorithm works the effectively handling of both step and blurred edges. In the proposed algorithm, the image sharpening operator is sharpening the edges and contours of the objects. This operation gives an opportunity to get noise reduced image and step edged image. After that, multi-scale gradient operator works on noise reduced image in order to get a gradient image. The gradient image is segmented by watershed transform. The approach of region merging is used after watershed transform. The region merging is carried out according to the region area and region homogeneity. The region number of the proposed algorithm is 36% shorter than that of the existing algorithm because the proposed algorithm produces a few irrelevant regions. Moreover, the computational time of the proposed algorithm is relatively fast in comparison with the existing one.

  • The edge, a discontinuity or abrupt change in the gray-level or color, is a fundamentally important primitive feature of an image necessary for the image analysis and classification. Two-dimensional 3x3 compass gradient operators (ex. Sobel, Prewitt, and Kirsch operators)are commonly used in the edge detection and usually detect 8 compass directional components. In this paper, we present a new interpretation of the relationships between the resulting 8 gradient magnitudes and the 8 intensity values of neighboring pixels which are covered by the two-dimensional 3x3 mask. It is expected that a new gradient edge operator may be designed by changing the eigenvalues in the transform domain and the fast optical edge operator may be implemented by using the optical system.

연속 위성화상자료상의 향상된 형태추적법을 이용한 유속추정기법 (Improved Method for Feature Tracking Method in estimating Ocean Current Vectors from Sequential Satellite Imageries)

  • 본 연구에서는 기존의 형태추적법을 이용한 해양의 연속 AVHRR 위성화상자료 상의 유속추정 방법을 해양의 전선이나 소용돌이의 경계부를 정의하는데 있어 객관적 알고리즘을 이용하여 개선하였다. 그것을 위하여 Sobel 필터를 사용하였다. 이 Sobel 필터는 화상상의 객체의 가장자리를 추정하는데 대단히 효과적인 필터로서 판명되었다. Sobel 방법을 이용하여 가장자리를 정의한 후 그 가장자리 상에서 유속 백터를 추정하기 위하여 Pattem tile 과 Search tile 의 중심좌표를 선정할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서 개발한 최대상관법을 이용한 형태추적법은 화상 전체를 이용할 필요 없이 객체가 정의된 부분화상을 이용하여 유속 벡터를 추정하기 때문에 훨씬 빠르고 효과적이었다. 동해에서 ADCP를 이용한 현장 관측자료와 비교하여 본 연구에서 개발한 방법의 타당성을 분석한 바로는 유속치에서 약 35% 이하 감소, 해류방향에서 약 $34^{\circ}$ 이하의 오차가 발생한 결과를 얻었다. 이는 기존의 결과와 비교할 때 향상된 결과로 평가된다.

  • XML is fast emerging as the dominant standard to represent and exchange data in the Web. As the amount of data available in the Web has increased dramatically in recent years, the data resides in different forms ranging from semi-structured data to highly structured data in relational database. As semi-structured data will be represented by XML, XML will increase the ability of semi-structured data. In this paper, we propose an idea for extracting schema in XML document using DTD.

  • This paper presents a fast IA(integer ambiguity) resolution method that determines the IA within short epochs with guaranteed reliability. Based on the fact that the search volume and the cost function are influenced by the selection of primary IAs in the plane intersection method, an IA resolution method is proposed that evaluates IA candidates repeatedly in an epoch with different combinations of primary IAs. In order to guarantee the reliability of the resolved IA with a certain probability, an inequality condition for selecting differencing operator is derived. Experiment results show that the proposed method consistently provides the true IA estimates within short time.

  • The electric power industry throughout the world is undergoing considerable changes from the vertically integrated utility structure to the deregulated market. However, the deregulated electricity market is operated with respect to theory of economical efficiency, and therefore, the system operator requires data with fast contingency ranking for security of the bulk power system. This paper compares the weather dependant probabilistic risk index(PRI) with the system performance index for power flow in the IEEE-RTS. The system performance index for power flow presents the power system stability. This paper presents fast calculation method for determining contingency ranking using the weather dependant probabilistic risk index(PRI). The probabilistic risk index can be classified into the case of normal and adverse weather. This paper proposes calculation method using the probabilistic risk index in determining contingency ranking required for security under the deregulated electricity market.

초정밀 비구면 가공용 CAM 소프트웨어 개발에 대한 연구 (The Development of CAM Software for Ultra-precision Aspheric Surface)

  • As consumer electronics, information, and aero-space industry grow, the demand for aspheric lens increases higher. To enhance the precision and productivity of aspheric surface, a CAM system for ultra-precision aspheric surface needs to be realized. In this study, the developed CAM system can generate NC code fur various aspheric surfaces fast and precisely by a new bi-arc interpolation method that the location of maximum error is fixed at an efficient point. The newly developed bi-arc meets the given tolerance more precisely, performs faster calculation. The cutting condition input module and the NC code verification module are adequate to ultra-precision machining, so that a operator can obtain products fast and easily.

  • 2 DOF half-car model with 6 semi-active suspension units is utilized to evaluate the tracked vehicle dynamic performance simulated by several suspension control algorithms. The target of this research is to improve the ride comfort to maintain operator's handling capability when the tracked vehicle travels fast on the rough road. The control algorithms for suspension systems, such as full state feedback active, full state feedback semi-active, sky-hook active, sky-hook semi-active, and on-off systems, are evaluated and analyzed in view point of ride comfort. The dynamic performances of vehicle are expressed and evaluated by vibratory characteristic evaluation curves, performance indices and frequency characteristic curves. The simulation results show that the performances of sky-hook algorithms for ride comfort nearly follow those of full state feedback algorithms and on-off algorithm is recommendatory when the vehicle runs relatively fast.
