The pBT-L transgenic mice carrying human TPO gene in conjunction with bovine $\beta$-casein promoter express human TPO in milk during lactation. In this study, stability of germ line transmission and expression of pBT-L transgene integrated into host chromosome were monitored up to generation F10 of transgenic pBT-L/15 line. When male mouse of generation F8 was crossbred with normal females, approximately half of offsprings (51.3$\pm$18.98%) were identified as transgenic mice. Generation F9 and F 10 mice also showed similar transmission rates (43.8$\pm$18.98% and 71.4$\pm$26.98%, respectively), implying that pBT-L transgene can be transmitted stably up to long term generation in the transgenic mice. Expression levels of human TPO from milk of generation F9 and F10 mice were 1.1$\pm$0.33 mg/ml and 1.1 $\pm$0.45 mg/ml, respectively, which are similar to expression level of generation F2 mice. In conclusion, our results suggest that transgenic animals once established will continuously pass their transgenes to the progeny through the breeding program with the same productivity of human protein in their milk.
The box tree pyralid, Glyphodes perspectalis, was reared on an artificial diet based on dried powder of box tree leaves, Buxus microphylla var. koreana, and INSECTA F-II (Nihon Nosan Co., Ltd) at a ratio of 3:7 (w:w) and analyzed in their developmental characteristics from $1^{st}$ to $4^{th}$ generation. The developmental period of larva reared on artificial diet was longer than that of larva reared on host plant. Significant difference in larval period was also observed between $1^{st}$ and other generation groups. Pupation rate was the highest in $4^{th}$ generation followed by $3^{rd}$, $2^{nd}$, $1^{st}$ and host plant group. Significant difference in pupal period was noted between $1^{st}$ and 3rd generation group. Emergence rate was the highest in $4^{th}$ generation group followed by $3^{rd}$, host plant, $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ generation group. There is a significant difference in male and female size between $1^{st}$ and $4^{th}$ generation group. Our result indicated that stable rearing of box tree pyralid through the year is possible by artificial diet, and the best adaptation to artificial diet was achieved at $4^{th}$ generation.

A field experiment was conducted to examine the fruit quality characters in second generation ($F_2$) hybrid cultivar and to compare the fruit characters with original $F_1$ hybrid cultivar of minipaprika (yellow and orange type) at the Research Farm, Hwacheon in July, 2010. Fruit characters varied within $F_2$ population of each minipaprika type. In minipaprika yellow, fruit weight varied from 12.2 g to 50.8 g (average 28.5 g) and fruit length/width varied from 1.4 to 2.8 (average, 2.0). Pericarp thickness ranged from 1.8 mm to 4.1 mm (average, 2.9 mm). Total soluble solid (TSS) varied from $6.2^{\circ}Brix$ to $13.5^{\circ}Brix$ with an average of $8.7^{\circ}Brix$. Fruit volume varied from 10.3 cc to 46.7 cc with an average of 24.4 cc. In minipaprika orange type, fruit weight ranged from 19.7 g to 42.4 g (average, 29.0 g) and fruit length/width varied from 1.5 to 2.6 (average, 2.0). Pericarp thickness varied from 2.1 mm to 4.1 mm with an average of 3.0 mm. TSS varied from $5.0^{\circ}Brix$ to $12.2^{\circ}Brix$ (average, $7.9^{\circ}Brix$) and average fruit volume was 24.6 cc ranging from 10.7 cc to 35.0 cc. The average fruit quality characters in $F_2$ population in both yellow and orange minipaprika did not differ from their $F_1$ hybrid parent and $F_2$ seed can be an additional way to supply high yielding hybrid cultivars at lower cost to the minipaprika growers.
The Noise generation mechanisms of propane laminar premixed flames on a slot burner have been studied experimentally. The sound levels and frequencies were measured for various mixture flow rates (velocities) and equivalence ratios. The primary frequency of self-induced noise increases with the mean velocity of mixture as $f{\;}{\propto}{\;}U_f^{1.144}$ and the measured noise level increases with the mixture flow rate and equivalence ratio as $p{\;}{\propto}{\;}U_f^{1.7}$$F^{8.2}$. The nature of flame oscillation and the noise generation mechanisms are also investigated using a high speed CCD camera and a DSRL camera. The repetition of sudden extinction at the tip of flame is evident and the repetition rates are identical to the primary frequencies obtained from the FFT analysis of sound pressure signals. CH chemiluminescence intensities of the oscillating flames were also measured by PMT with a 431 nm(10 FWHM) band pass filter and compared to the pressure signals.

It is generally known that the automotive road wheel involves the non-proportional multiaxial loading condition, therefore the measuring dynamic stress and strain in driving state is very important to predict an endurance characteristic of the automotive road wheel. In this study, the ultimate driving test using F1 circuit with respect to 2 kinds of velocity conditions have been carried out in order to measure dynamic stress, strain of the wheel and acceleration of a vehicle. Based on the measured results, the characteristics of dynamic stress generation have been analyzed, and factors which have effect on the dynamic stress generation have been studied.
The objective of this study was to describe the nature of the inheritance of jumping as a behavioral trait and to analyze quantitatively the jumping height as a measure of vigor in two subspecies of mice. Two subspecies of mice, Yonakuni wild mouse (Y) and $CF_{{\sharp}1}$ laboratory mouse (C), were used as the parental types. Reciprocal mating between these two subspecies was made to produce subsequently the first and second generations. The first generation was $F_1$ (YC) resulting from $Y\;male{\times}C\;female$, and $F_1{^\prime}$ (CY) from $C\;male{\times}Y\;female$. The second generation $F_2$ (YCYC) was from mating $F_1{\times}F_1$ and $F_2{^\prime}$ (CYCY) from $F_1{^\prime}{\times}F_1{^\prime}$. Individuals were treated with a set of direct current shock apparatus at six weeks of age to evoke jumping. The results showed that the ratio between jumping and non jumping mice (J: NJ) for C was 0%:100% (0:1), which means that all C did not jump throughout the experiment, whereas Y was 68%:32% (2:1); and the $F_1$ and $F_2$ showed 65%:35% (2:1) and 51%:49% (1:1), respectively. All $F_1{^\prime}$ and $F_2{^\prime}$ individuals jumped as indicated by the ratio 100%:0% (1:0) for both these two genetic groups. Of the jumped mice, average height of the first three jumping observed for pooled sexes in Y, $F_1$, $F_2$, $F_1{^\prime}$ and $F_2{^\prime}$ were 19.3 cm, 19.3 cm, 18.0 cm, 19.9 cm and 16.4 cm, respectively. The distribution of jumping height showed a tendency to be a normal distribution. The jumping activity and jumping height may be affected by some major genes and polygenes, respectively.
The purpose of this experiment was to obtain the basic information on heterosis and inbreeding depression of quantitative characters in the silkworm by diallel crosses of seven varieties differing widely in each character. Period of 5th instar cocoon weight, cocoon layer weight, cocoon layer ratio, boiling off ratio, raw silk percent, bave length, bave weight, bave size, weight of first molting larva and fourth molting larva were investigated. The results obtained were summarized as follows : The degrees of positive heterosis of cocoon weight and cocoon layer weight were higher. Period of 5th instar and boiling off ratio were negative heterosis. In F1 generation, cocoon weight and bave weight showed positive heterobeltiosis, while fifth instar-period, cocoon layer ratio and boiling off ratio showed negative heterobeltiosis in the F1 and F2 generation. Inbreeding depression was observed in cocoon layer ratio and boiling off ratio.
In chicken, exogenous genes introduced into germinal crescent region (GCR) of the early developmental stage, where primordial germ cells (PGCs) were concentrated, were successfully transferred to the gonads via PGCs. The foreign genes were also confirmed to be successfully incorporated into F1 and F2 generations. We tried to incorporate the exogenous genes into PGCs by lipofection, then the DNA mixture was injected into GCR at stage 3-5 or 9-11 of embryonic development (Hamburger and Hamilton, 1951). The manipulated eggs were incubated, and hatched chicks were reared until sexual maturation. F1 generation was obtained from the DNA-treated chicken (DNA-chicken) mated with normal birds. Furthermore, F2 generation was also obtained from the F1 chicken mated with normal birds. The transfer of introduced foreign genes were confirmed by marker gene detection methods and PCR analysis in the hatched chicks, F1 and F2 generations. However, in our experiments, DNA-chickens showed abnormal characteristics such as low egg production rate, abnormal appearance and decreased number of spermatozoa. In the case of F1 chicken, low egg production and the deterioration of sperm capacity for insemination in male chicken were observed.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the histological toxicity of chitosanoligosaccharide on the rat. A healthy male of Wistar rat that weighted $250{\pm}350g$ was used for experiment The experimental group was divided into five groups. Group 1 was control group which treated with general food Group 2 was $F_1$ generation which was born by mating of 0.1% (1 mg/ml) chitosanoligosaccharide was supplied by feeding ad libitum for 30 days. Group 3 was $F_2$ generation which was born by mating $F_1$ generation. Group 4 was treated with 90 days of 0.1% (1 mg/ml) chitosan oligosaccharide. Group 5 was treated with 365 days of 0.1% (1 mg/ml) chitosanoligo saccharide. All experimental groups were used to 10 rat. The results were as follow: The RER dilation was observed Group 4. However, there were no significantly changes of ultrastructures in the other groups compared to the control. It was concluded that chitosanoligosaccharide can be used for nontoxic natural material.
