  • Suppose that X is a Banach space with continuous dual $X^{**}$, ($\Omega$, $\Sigma$, ${\mu}$) is a finite measure space. f : $\Omega\;{\longrightarrow}$ $X^{*}$ is a weakly measurable function such that $\chi$$^{**}$ f $\in$ $L_1$(${\mu}$) for each $\chi$$^{**}$ $\in$ $X^{**}$ and $T_{f}$ : $X^{**}$ \longrightarrow $L_1$(${\mu}$) is the operator defined by $T_{f}$($\chi$$^{**}$) = $\chi$$^{**}$f. In this paper we study the properties of bounded $X^{*}$ - valued weakly measurable functions and bounded $X^{*}$ - valued weak* measurable functions.(omitted)

  • It is generally known that the automotive road wheel involves the non-proportional multiaxial loading condition, therefore the measuring dynamic stress and strain in driving state is very important to predict an endurance characteristic of the automotive road wheel. In this study, the ultimate driving test using F1 circuit with respect to 2 kinds of velocity conditions have been carried out in order to measure dynamic stress, strain of the wheel and acceleration of a vehicle. Based on the measured results, the characteristics of dynamic stress generation have been analyzed, and factors which have effect on the dynamic stress generation have been studied.

  • The intent of the present study is to investigate the acoustic properties of Korean /w/ in various phonological contexts, compare them with those of English /w/, and attempt to explain why English /w/'s are perceived differently by Korean speakers depending on the phonological contexts. Experiments 1 and 2 present the acoustic measure of F2 of Korean /w/ in various linguistic positions and show that unlike English /w/, Korean /w/ shows quite a strong coarticulation with the following vowel. Based on these experiments, Experiment 3 investigates why English /w/ is adapted differently into Korean. Specifically, it discusses why English /wain/ is adapted as /wain/ whereas English /twin/ is adapted into Korean as $/t^{h_i}win/$ with an extra vowel. This study argues that the different perception of English /w/ by Korean and English speakers is due to the different F2 transitional pattern of /w/ in Korean and English in various phonological contexts. It also argues that the F2 transitional pattern is an important factor in the perception of /w/.

  • For a complex measure ${\mu}$ on B and $f{\in}L^2_a(B)$, the Toeplitz operator $T_{\mu}$ on $L^2_a(B,dv)$ with symbol ${\mu}$ is formally defined by $T_{\mu}(f)(w)=\int_{B}f(w)\bar{K(z,w)}d{\mu}(w)$. We will investigate properties of the Toeplitz operator $T_{\mu}$ with symbol ${\mu}$. We define the Toeplitz type operator $T^r_{\psi}$ with symbol ${\psi}$, $$T^r_{\psi}f(z)=c_r\int_{B}\frac{(1-{\parallel}w{\parallel}^2)^r}{(1-{\langle}z,w{\rangle})^{n+r+1}}{\psi}(w)f(w)d{\nu}(w)$$. We will also investigate properties of the Toeplitz type operator with symbol ${\psi}$.

  • We let F be a p-adic field with ring of integers O. Suppose .THETA.$_{i}$ .mem. $F^{x}$ /( $F^{x}$ )$^{2}$ for i=1,2 and write $E^{{\theta}_{i}}$:= F(.root..THETA.$_{i}$ ). Then there appear some specific sets such as ( $E^{{\theta}_{i}}$)$^{x}$ / $F^{x}$ in [1] which we need to measure. In addition to that, nanother possible condition attached to the generalized results in [2] had better be presented even though they may not be quite so important. This paper is concerned with these matters. Most notations and conventions are standard and have been used also in [1] and [2].

  • The objective of this study were to classify the contents of clothing purchase motives and to examine the differences in post-purchase dissatisfaction and satisfaction of clothing according to the clothing purchase motives. Questionnaire was comprised of 36 Likert type items of clothing purchase motive measure, 15 items of post-purchase clothing dissatisfaction measure, and 1 item of satisfaction measures. Samples were 492 women in Incheon, Korean ; 279 were college students and 213 were housewives. The data were analyzed using factor analysis, cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, and χ2-test. The results of the study were the followings : 1. Subjects perceived 'becomingness' to be the most important motive, 'attractiveness of color' the second important, and 'salesperson's recommendation' the least. 2. 6 factors of clothing purchase motives were derived by factor analysis : F.1 'clothing utility and deficiency' ; F.2 'clothing quality' ; F.3 'financial frugality'. 3. Subjects were classified into the three motive groups by cluster analysis of the 6 factors : G.1 'the clothing appearance and others' influence' ; G.2 'the clothing quality and deficiency' ; G.3 'the motiveless'. 4. More college women were distributed in clothing appearance and others' influence group than housewives, while more housewives were distributed in clothing quality and deficiency group. 5. The clothing appearance and others' influence group expressed the highest post-purchase dissatisfaction and the lowest post-purchase satisfaction. The clothing quality and deficiency group expressed the highest post-purchase satisfaction, and the motiveless group expressed the lowest post-purchase dissatisfaction.

  • Purpose: As population of elderly people continues to grow, successful aging has risen to the top of the nursing science agenda. The successful aging includes maintenance of the cognitive and physical functions, as well as emotional well-beings. This study was carried out to evaluate effects of the environmental enrichments on cognition of institutionalized elderly. Method: The population was selected among the elderly aging over 65 residing at two of institutions. A quasi experimental design was used with non-equivalent control group. Study subjects were thirteen for each group. For the experimental group, physical, social and symbolic environmental enrichment program was provided for six weeks. The data were analyzed by repeated measure ANOVA and repeated measure ANCOVA using SPSS Win 11.0. Result: Compared to control group, the experimental group showed a significant difference on DSF(F=3.29, p=.046), and TMTA(F=4.76, p=.013) of cognitive function, and depression (F=5.56, p=.007) of emotional distress after 1 and 12 weeks of environmental enrichment program. Conclusion: Findings indicate that physical, social, and symbolic environmental enrichment was effective to partially prevent from cognitive decline, and to decrease emotional distress of elderly. As a nursing intervention, environmental enrichment program for elderly should be expanded for nursing practice to promote healthy aging and to offer support to the growing population of elderly. Further research should be conducted to evaluate the effect on the community elderly.

  • This survey was performed to evaluate and compare cognitive function, self-esteem and depression in the elderly related to aging. The data were collected from 200 elders in eight homes for the elderly in Taegu. Data collection was done from June 1 to 31, 1996. The scale used to measure cognitive function was the MMSE-K(Mini-Mental State Examination-Korea), Self-esteem was measmed using Rosenberg's self-esteem scale and depression using SDS(Self-rating Depression Scale). A comparison of cognitive function, self-esteem and depression by aging were summarised as follows : 1. There were significant differences on the cognitive function score in the elderly according to age group(F=24.81, P<.01). 2. There were significant differences on the self-esteem score in the elderly according to age group(F=3.84, P<.5). 3. There were significant differences on the depression score in the elderly according to age group (F=5.90, P<.1). 4. The general characteristics which affected the cognitive function scores of the elders were sex (F=8.45, P<.5), educational level(F=8.86, P<.5), spousing(F=34.59. P<.01), and the perception of health(F=4.63, P<.5). 5. The general characteristic which affected the self-esteem scores of the elders was the perception of health(F=3.81. P<.5). 6. The general characteristic which affected the depression scores was the educational level(F=3.96, P<.5).
