For this study, WRF numerical modeling was performed, using RDAPS information for input data on typhoons affecting the Korean peninsula to produce wind data of 700hPa. RAM numerical modeling was also used to calculate 3-second gusts as the extreme wind speed. After comparing wind speeds at an altitude of 10 m to evaluate the feasibility of WRF numerical modeling, modeled values were found to be similar with measured ones, reflecting change tendencies well. Therefore, the WRF numerical modeling results were verified. As a result of comparing and analyzing these wind speeds, as calculated through RAM numerical modeling, to evaluate applicability for disaster preparedness, change tendencies were observed to be similar between modeled and measured values. In particular, modeled values were slightly higher than measured ones, indicating applicability for the prevention of possible damage due to gales. Our analysis of 3-second gusts during the study period showed a high distribution of 3-second gusts in the southeast region of the Korean peninsula from 2002-2006. The frequency of 3-second gusts increased in the central north region of Korea as time progressed. Our analysis on the characteristics of 3-second gusts during years characterized by El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ or La Nina showed greater strength during hurricanes that affected the Korean peninsula in El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ years.

Presence of eyelid on anterior ocular surface and its thermal effects play significant role in maintaining eye temperature. In most of the literatures of thermal modeling in human eye, the eyelid is not considered as an eye component. In this paper, finite element model is developed to investigate the thermal effects of eyelid closure and opening in human eye. Based on different properties and parameter values reported in literatures, the bio-heat transfer process is simulated and compared with experimental results in steady and transient state cases. The sensitivity analysis using various ambient temperatures, evaporation rates, blood temperatures and lens thermal conductivities is carried out. The temperature values so obtained in open eye show a good agreement with past results. The closure of eyelid is found to increase/decrease the eye temperature significantly than its opening, when the parameter values are considered to be at extreme.

The purposes of this study were to examine the fashion adopted by young women in the United States in the 1970s and to explore how the dynamic shifts toward feminist values influenced those fashion trends. Fifteen American women who were college students in the 1970s were interviewed for the study. Throughout the decade, casual and comfortable styles became more prevalent; for example, pants became widely accepted for formal occasions as well as informal occasions due to an overall emphasis on practicality. The feminist and civil rights movements along with more liberal attitudes toward religion were among the more dominant cultural values that influenced the respondents' choices in clothing styles. Feminist presentation was diverse extreme or eclectic - and constantly renegotiating itself. This study helped us better understand the dynamics involved between fashion and value changes as well as the influence of feminism on the 1970s fashion in the United States.

Even in the present situation where any general criterion on CRM dose not exist, utilization of CRM is expected to be actively continued, which will cause many problems. In this regard, evaluating CRM counts. As the result, projects are being suspended and budgets cut, plans for introducing CRM suspended or cancelled and many CRM software vendors and technical consulting firms are facing serious management crisis. Yet, this phenomenon can be regarded as an interim one. In fact, some cases that successfully introduced CRM show that CRM is migrating from small scale which is typical when introduced to larger scale through various tests. Therefore, this study tries to segment customer for the sloving the problem. And it make efficient customer management. Using this model, SN ratio of taguchi method for each of subjective factors as well as values of weights are used in this comprehensive method for customer. A example is presented to illustrate the model and to show a rank reversal when compared to a model that does not eliminate extreme values and eliminates the highest and lowest experts' values allocating the weights and the subjective factors.

In this study, the spatio-temporal characteristics of summer extreme precipitation events in the Republic of Korea are examined based on the daily precipitation data observed at approximately 360 sites of both Automatic Weather Station (AWS) and Automated Synoptic Observation System (ASOS) networks by the Korea Meteorological Administration for the recent decade(2002~2011). During the summer Changma period(late June~mid July), both the frequency of extreme precipitation events exceeding 80mm of daily precipitation and their decadal maximum values are greatest at most of weather stations. In contrast, during the Changma pause period (late July~early August), these patterns are observed only in the northern regions of Geyeonggi province and western Kangwon province as such patterns are detected around Mt. Sobaek and Mt. Halla as well as in the southern regions of Geyeonggi province and western Kangwon province during the late Changma period (mid August~early September) due to north-south oscillation of the Changma front. Investigation of their regional patterns confirms that not only migration of the Changma front but also topological components in response to the advection of moistures such as elevation and aspect of major mountain ridges are detrimental to spatio-temporal patterns of extreme precipitation events. These results indicate that each local administration needs differentiated strategies to mitigate the potential damages by extreme precipitation events due to the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of their frequency and intensity during each Changma period.

This paper examines the crisis of the protagonist's Jewish identity in Philip Roth's Portnoy's Complaint. Jewish values are centered on the philosophy of Judaism and Jewish history. Judaism is based on an ethical monotheism which is Bible-centered. It is characterized by its covenant with God, its humanism, and its emphasis on moral action. It provides essential reasons for man's existence and stresses human confidence and sufficiency. Jewish values can be found in words such as "good," "humanity," "dignity," "responsibility," and "sense of community." These positive Jewish values pervade Philip Roth's fiction paradoxically. Throughout especially Portnoy's Complaint, the protagonist fails to embrace Jewish values in contrast to Bellow or Malamud's heroes and repeat the same mistakes eliciting fits of laughter from readers. The protagonist suffers from his strongly-felt ethical and altruistic impulses perpetually warring with his extreme sexual longings against which he struggles. His desperation grows as he finds himself unable to channel his dissatisfaction and change his situations. His dominating mother and his confusion over Jewishness and Americanism are the main obstacles to his establishment of self-identity. He attempts to build up his gender identity and Jewish identity through his ego-centric sexual relationship with shikses(female gentiles). His inability to embody Jewish values leads to the failure to fulfill his identity. Roth paradoxically shows that the protagonist's realization of Jewishness is essential to the cure for his fragmented self.

In this paper, we formulate the DEA model with interval efficiency, there exist two phases of efficiency evaluation with respect to the upper limit and the lower limit. From these viewpoints, we can define two extreme points of efficiency. As a result, an interval efficiency for each DMU cam be obtained. We also formulate the interval cross-efficiency.

In this work, we present a method to deal with the interval valued decision making systems. First, we propose a new type of equality measure based on the Ordered Weighted Averaging (OWA) operator. The proposed equality measure has a structure to render the extreme values of the measure by choosing a suitable weighting vector of the OWA operator. From this property, we derive a bidirectional fuzzy inference network which can be applied for the decisionmaking systems requiring the inverval valued decisions.

Statistically illiterate people seem to believe that there are some strategies for choosing winning numbers in lottery. One seemingly plausible strategy is to select the hot numbers which most frequently appeared in the past. In this article we investigate the existence of hot numbers in the Korean national lottery called Lotto. A numerical method is proposed to estimate the exact sampling distribution of test statistic for checking the existence of hot numbers among 45 possible numbers of choice.

Generalized Pareto distribution play an important role in reliability, extreme value theory, and other branches of applied probability and statistics. This family of distribution includes exponential distribution, Pareto or Lomax distribution. In this paper, we established exact expressions and recurrence relations satised by the quotient moments of generalized order statistics for a generalized Pareto distribution. Further the results for quotient moments of order statistics and records are deduced from the relations obtained and a theorem for characterizing this distribution is presented.
