휴대폰 배터리의 폭발 및 화재 위험성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Explosion and Fire Risks of Mobile Phone Batteries)

  • 본 논문은 휴대폰 배터리의 폭발 및 화재 위험성을 분석하기 위한 실험적 연구로서, 실험은 스마트폰 배터리로 사용되고 있는 리튬-이온 배터리를 대상으로 하여 사용상 부주의 또는 이상상태 등에서 폭발 및 화재가 발생될 가능성이 있는 과충전, 내부단락 및 외부단락 그리고 열충격에 의한 실험을 진행하였다. 리튬-이온 배터리는 과충전 및 외부단락 실험의 경우 보호회로가 정상적으로 작동될 때는 폭발 및 화재 위험성이 없었으나, 보호회로가 고장상태를 가정하였을 때 폭발 및 화재 위험성이 크게 나타났다. 내부단락 및 열충격 실험의 경우 충전상태에 따라 위험성에 차이가 나타났다. 즉, 완방전 상태에서는 폭발 및 화재 위험성이 낮았으나, 완충전 상태에서는 폭발 및 화재 위험성이 높게 나타나는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 실험결과 휴대폰 배터리의 폭발 및 화재 위험성을 최소화하기 위해서는 보호회로 고장시 알람장치 및 배터리 케이스 강화 그리고 고온방지를 위한 냉각장치 등의 안전장치의 강화가 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

동파방지열선 화재 흔적분석과 발화원인 연구 (A Study for the Fire Analysis and Igniting Cause of Freezing Protection Heating Cables)

  • There have been a number of major fatal fire accidents in Korea recently. The number of fires in 2017 were 44,178, which is not only increasing number of fires but also increasing in casualties. Particularly, the fire at Jecheon Sports Center, which suffered many casualties, is expected to have a huge impact. The cause of the fire has not been determined yet, but heat waves on the ceiling have also been pointed out. As such, the copper heating waves, which are used as a preventive measure against damage of pipes due to freezing of pipes, etc., always have a fire hazard. To determine the possibility of a flame-resistant heated fire, a positive electric cable product was used to artificially ignite and analyze the results. In case of a short circuit, the external covering of the positive electric cable is damaged, but not short circuit unless the heating material surrounding the wire is damaged. Due to the characteristics of heating cable for preventing copper waves, the chances of insulation becoming more severe due to moisture and temperature changes are higher than normal wires. If the internal heating system is carbonized by insulating deterioration without damage to the outer coating, it is likely to cause trekking, to form a winding loop in the heating materials, and to cause short circuit in the heated materials. For the positive temperature line, if the middle is shorted, the current continues to flow to the short circuit unless the breaker disconnects. Consequently, a heated fire that does not cut off the power immediately may leave multiple marks or cuts.

  • This paper describes a delay-locked loop(DLL_) with low-jitter using Vernier Method. This DLL can be used to synchronize the internal clock to the external clock with very short time interval and fast lock-on. The proposed circuit was simulated in a 0.25 $\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology to realize low-jitter. We verified 50-ps of time interval within 5 clock cycles of the clock as the simulation results.

  • Damage and upset of control and communication equipment due to transient overvoltages which occur due primarily to internal switching surge and external lightning surge are an important problems in electromagnetic compatibility(EMC). In this paper, we analyzed operation characteristic of metal oxide varistor widely used low voltage AC line using the electromagnetic transients program(EMTP) and compare it with experimental results and also, we modeled combination generator producing $1.2/50{\mu}s$ open circuit voltage and $8/20{\mu}s$ short circuit current as a source which is critical in calculating operation characteristic. Simulation results showed that most of Transient energy consumes at MOV located in service entrance side than load side, and it showed similar to experimental results. Therefore, entrance side MOV should be selected more energy capacity than that of load side MOV.

ESS (에너지 저장장치) 배터리 화재사례를 통한 감식기법 및 연소 확산방지에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Identification Technique and Prevention of Combustion Diffusion through ESS (Energy Storage System) Battery Fire Case)

  • 연구목적 : 에너지 저장실의 외부 화염에 의한 내부자기 점화 및 점화를 식별하고, 과열로 인한 점화와 외부 열원에 의한 점화의 차이를 분석하는 것이다. 연구방법 : 분리막 녹는점 측정, 배터리 외부 수열 실험, 배터리 과충전 실험, 과충전과 외부수열에 의한 연소 시 전극 판 비교분석, 과충전 연소 특징, 외부수열 화재 연소특징, 3.4(전극판 비교)/ 3.5(과충전)/ 3.6(외부수열) 분석 실험을 하였다. 연구결과: 화재 발생 시까지 센서의 위치에 따른 온도 차이가 극심했음으로 기존처럼 한 모듈 당 온도 센서 두 개로는 측정값이 부족해 온도제어를 통한 화재를 사전에 방지할 수 없다고 판단한다. 결론: 단락이 점화원으로 작용하여 혼합가스에 착화돼 가스폭발이 발생하고, 폭발 압력에 의해 전극이 잘게 파손되며, 가루형태의 리튬산화물이 불꽃반응에 의해 폭죽과 유사한 불꽃이 분출되었다.

전자기기의 신호전송을 위한 Photo Couplers(P/C) 의 위험 요소 발굴 (Risk Factors Related to Photo Couplers(P/C) for Signal Transmission by Electronic Devices)

  • The purpose of this study is to find risk factors by analyzing the operation principle of a photo coupler (P/C) used to remove the noise of electronic devices and establish a base for the performance improvement of developed products. It was found from the P/C circuit analysis of normal products that they were equipped with an electrolytic condenser of $0.1{\mu}F$ to smooth system signals. Due to the epoxy resin packing the external part of the P/C, this study experienced a limit to visually examine the damage to it. It could be seen from the analysis of electric characteristics of the P/C that the forward voltage ($V_f$) and reverse current ($I_r$) were 1.3 V and 10 uA, respectively. In addition, it is required that the breakdown voltage (VCE) between the collector (C) and emitter (E) be maintained at less than 35 V. The and of the damaged product #1 were comparatively good. However, the measurement of was 100.0 uA. From this, it is thought that a short circuit occurred to the internal circuit. Moreover, from the fact that the of the damaged product #2 was open circuit and the measurement of was 0.0 uA, it is thought that the collector and emitter was separated or insulation resistance was significantly high. Furthermore, from the fact that the of the damaged product #3 was open circuit and the measurement of was 0.0 uA, it is thought that the space between the collector (C) and emitter (E) failed to meet the design standard or that they were separated. Therefore, it is thought that fabricating the P/C by increasing the reverse current 10 mA to 50 mA will prevent its malfunction.

BST Thin Film Multi-Layer Capacitors

  • Even though the fabrication methods of metal oxide based thin film capacitor have been well established such as RF sputtering, Sol-gel, metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD), ion beam assisted deposition (IBAD) and pulsed laser deposition (PLD), an applicable capacitor of printed circuit board (PCB) has not realized yet by these methods. Barium Strontium Titanate (BST) and other high-k ceramic oxides are important materials used in integrated passive devices, multi-chip modules (MCM), high-density interconnect, and chip-scale packaging. Thin film multi-layer technology is strongly demanded for having high capacitance (120 nF/$mm^2$). In this study, we suggest novel multi-layer thin film capacitor design and fabrication technology utilized by plasma assisted deposition and photolithography processes. Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 (BST) was used for the dielectric material since it has high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss. 5-layered BST and Pt thin films with multi-layer sandwich structures were formed on Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si substrate by RF-magnetron sputtering and DC-sputtering. Pt electrodes and BST layers were patterned to reveal internal electrodes by photolithography. SiO2 passivation layer was deposited by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PE-CVD). The passivation layer plays an important role to prevent short connection between the electrodes. It was patterned to create holes for the connection between internal electrodes and external electrodes by reactive-ion etching (RIE). External contact pads were formed by Pt electrodes. The microstructure and dielectric characteristics of the capacitors were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and impedance analyzer, respectively. In conclusion, the 0402 sized thin film multi-layer capacitors have been demonstrated, which have capacitance of 10 nF. They are expected to be used for decoupling purpose and have been fabricated with high yield.

음성 및 데이터서비스를 위한 무선접속시스템에서 CDMA와 TDMA방식의 성능비교 (Performance Comparison of CDMA and TDMA protocols in radio access system for Integrated Voice/Data Services)

  • 본 논문에서는 음성 및 데이터서비스를 위한 무선접속시스템에서 D-TDMA(Dynamic-Time Division Multiple Access)와 CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) 프로토콜의 성능을 비교 분석하였다. D-TDMA 프로토콜에서 음성서비스는‘circuit mode’로 채널 사용 우선권을 부여하고 데이터서비스는 FCFS(First Come First Service) 형태의 동적 채널 할당 방식을 사용하였다. CDMA 프로토콜에서는 내부 셀과 외부 셀에 존재하는 다른 이동가입자들의 간섭잡음을 줄이기 위하여 음성검출 기법을 사용하고, 이 경우의 간선잡음전력을 분석하였다. 또한, 이 간섭잡음전력을 이용하여 실제 데이터의 BER(Bit Error Rate)를 구하고, 평균 데이터 길이와 평균 데이터 발생률의 변화에 따른 음성차단확률(음성패킷손실확률) 및 데이터전송 지연시간을 비교 분석하였다. 분석결과에 따르면 평균 데이터 길이가 짧을 경우, 데이터 발생률의 증감에 독립적으로 CDMA 프로토콜이 상대적으로 우수한 성능을 보였다. 그러나, 평균 데이터 길이가 길어질수록 데이터 전송 지연시간이 큰 폭으로 증가하는 CDMA 프로토콜보다 D-TDMA 프로토콜이 더 우수한 성능을 보였다.
