중온수 흡수식 냉동기의 열전달 면적 최적화 (Optimization of Heat Transfer Area Distribution for a Hot Water Driven Absorption Chiller)

  • The major irreversibilities in absorption chillers are associated with the transfer of heat into and out from the machine and irreversible process inside the machine. By modeling only external irreversibilities(endo-reversible), a model was formulated to predict the ideal performance of a single-effect absorption chiller. Its actual performance including both external and internal irreversibilities was calculated with a in-house simulation program. The optimization of heat transfer area distribution was performed for both endo-reversible cycle and actual cycle. The equation of endo-reversible modeling was found to give about 2times higher cooling capacity than the simulation program. At optimal distribution, it was found that heat transfer area of the evaporator was about 30% of total area, that of the generator was 20%, and the rest 50% was for the absorber and condenser. The system COP for endo-reversible cycle was slightly higher than that for actual cycle. In the case of LiBr-water single-effect absorption chiller, the maximum cooling capacity was obtained near the condition that LMTD is same at all heat exchangers.

가연성 냉매의 외부 응축 열전달에 관한 연구 (A Study of External Condensation Heat Transfer of Flammable Refrigerants)

  • In this study, external condensation heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) of flammable refrigerants of propylene, propane, isobutane, butane, DME, and HFC32 were measured on a horizontal plain tube, 26 fpi low fin tube, and Turbo-C tube. All data were taken at the temperature of 39$^{\circ}C$ with a wall subcooling of 3∼8$^{\circ}C$. Test results showed a typical trend that condensation HTCs of flammable refrigerants decrease with increasing wall subcooling. HFC32 had the highest HTCs among the tested refrigerants showing 44% higher HTCs than those of HCFC22 while DME showed 28% higher HTCs than those of HCFC22. HTCs of propylene and butane were similar to those of HCFC22 while those of propane and isobutane were similar to those of HFC134a. Based upon the tested data, Nusselt's equation is modified to predict the plain tube data within a deviation of 3%. For 26 fpi low fin tube, Beatty and Katz equation predicted the data within a deviation of 7.3% for all flammable refrigerants tested. The heat transfer enhancement factors for the 26 fpi low fin and Turbo-C tubes were 4.6∼5.7 and 4.7∼6.9 respectively for the refrigerants tested indicating that the performance of Turbo-C tube is the best among the tubes tested.

  • In this paper, natural convection around the ambient evaporator was numerically studied using commercial computational fluid dynamics software. From the simulations, temperature and velocity fields around the evaporator were found as a function of evaporator size and liquefied gas flow rate. The heat transfer coefficient at the external surface of the evaporator was also calculated from the simulation results. In order to give the heat transfer coefficient for various conditions, correlation between Rayleigh number and Nusselt number was proposed.

  • The commercial viability of heat exchanger is mainly dependent on their long-term fouling characteristics because the fouling increases the pressure loss and degrades the thermal performance of a heat exchanger. An experimental study was performed to investigate the characteristics of fluid flow and heat transfer in a fluidized bed heat exchanger with circulating various solid particles. The present work showed that the drag force coefficients of particles in the internal flow were higher than those in the external flow, in addition, the solid particle periodically hitting the tube wall broke the thermal boundary layer, and increased the rate of heat transfer. Particularly when the flow velocity was low, the effect was more pronounced.

  • In this paper, the effect of unsteady radiation on the horizontal fin of an external fuel tank by flame of a flying flare was analysed to see the temperature increase of the fin and the thermal impact on the fin. Radiation between two surfaces was calculated using the concept of radiation resistance of surface and space including radiation, irradiation and shape factor for two flying trajectories of a flare, maximum temperature of 2200 K, emissivity of 0.95, flying velocity of 30 m/s, and thermal surface area of $0.01m^2$. The result shows that the temperature increase of the fin is 0.236 K, and the thermal effect on the fin is ignorable. And it was found that temperature is increased a little because small amount of heat energy can be radiated due to the short exposure time to the heat source.

  • The flow and heat transfer characteristics for three-dimensional mixed convection flows in a radiator flat tube with U--shaped grooves are analyzed numerically. The flow and temperature fields are calculated by using the modified SIMPLE algorithm for irregular geometry. One tube specification among the various flat tube exchangers is recommended by considering the heat transfer and pressure drop. The effects of variation of coolant flow conditions and external air conditions on the flow and the thermal characteristics for the selected tube are investigated. the results show that inlet velocity of coolant flow is the very important factor in heat transfer and pressure drop, and top side is better position than the others as fin cleave to tube.

  • Many researches were carried out to estimate heat transfer rate on a circular cylinder in a uniform flow. Various empirical correlations were suggested in the past through experimental studies, however there are considerable discrepancies in the estimated values of heat transfer coefficient. The effect of fluid physical properties on the forced convective heat transfer between a circular cylinder and the external flow was numerically investigated in the present study, The flow and temperature fields were solved using a Finite Volume Method over a wider range of Prandtl number(0.7-40,000) than existing correlations. The cold as well as the hot cylinders in the uniform liquid flow of constant temperature were investigated. A unified correlation was obtainde for both cases.

  • This paper describes the experimental thermal performance results of four experimental model buildings insulated differently. For the purpose of examining the thermal characteristics of external walls and indoor thermal conditions, four experimental model buildings are constructed as externally insulated, internally insulated, non-insulated &light-weight curtain wall types with different K-values and heat capacities, respectively.
    Through the measurements of temperatures at various points and solar insolation, the effects of insulation and heat capacities are evaluated, and the evaluated effects of each experimental model buildings are compared. Hence, the characteristics of temperature profiles, time-lag effects and decrement factors are discovered.

  • Improvement of insulation performance of buildings is a major part. Adiabatic method The adiabatic method minimizes the heat loss of the building. External insulation uses insulation to prevent fire. Ambient air hazards are less prone to fire. When a fire occurs, a phenolic pattern is formed and bond strength with the wall increases. EPS insulation and phenol foam were used to compare external heat transfer and external heat transfer. The heat transfer properties of phenolic foam and styrofoam were evaluated as follows. In the mortar and styrofoam structure, the problem of styrofoam reaching the burning point occurred before the collapse of the mortar, and the phenol foam had a problem in that when the direct fire was continued on the phenol foam. The characteristics of continuous infiltration appeared. In the case of mortar and phenol foam + styrofoam, the heat penetrated into the interior due to the shrinkage due to the shrinkage of the carbon screen on the phenol foam. However, when reinforced with glass mesh on the outer surface, And to reduce infiltration.

고속 비행체 공기흡입관 구조설계를 위한 효율적 유체-열 통합해석 연구 (An Efficient Fluid-Thermal Integrated Analysis for Air-Intake Structure Design of a High Speed Air Vehicle)

  • In this research, low fidelity air/heat load analysis was conducted for the intake of high speed vehicle. For air/heat load calculations, aerodynamic properties at the surface and the boundary layer edge were estimated using Taylor-Maccoll equation for conical flow, shockwave relation and Prandtl-Meyer expansion equation for internal and external flow. Couette flow assumption and Reynolds analogy were used in order to calculate convective heat transfer coefficient. In order to calculate skin friction coefficient for heat transfer coefficient analysis, Van Driest method II and Reference Enthalpy method were considered. An axis symmetric SCRAMJET model was selected as a reference configuration for verifying the proper implementation of the present method. Comparison of the results using the present method and Computational Fluid Dynamic analysis showed that the present method is valuable for efficiently providing pressure and heat loads for air-intake structure design of the high speed air vehicle.
