Mushrooms are regarded as one of the well-known foods and biopharmaceutical materials with a great deal of interest. ${\beta}$-Glucan is the major component of mushrooms that displays various biological activities such as antidiabetic, anticancer, and antihyperlipidemic effects. In this study, we explored the molecular mechanism of its immunostimulatory potency in immune responses of macrophages, using exopolysaccharides prepared from liquid culture of Lentinus edodes. We found that fraction II (F-II), with large molecular weight protein polysaccharides, is able to strongly upregulate the phenotypic functions of macrophages such as phagocytic uptake, ROS/NO production, cytokine expression, and morphological changes. F-II triggered the nuclear translocation of NF-${\kappa}B$ and activated its upstream signaling cascades such as PI3K/Akt and MAPK pathways, as assessed by their phosphorylation levels. The function-blocking antibodies to dectin-1 and TLR-2, but not CR3, markedly suppressed F-II-mediated NO production. Therefore, our data suggest that mushroom-derived ${\beta}$-glucan may exert its immunostimulating potency via activation of multiple signaling pathways.

This study is a qualitative case study for discovering any change in the perception of elderly women about sexuality through a group counseling program. For this the study selected eight elderly people who are female aged 65 or over living in D city and have a spouse who is able to have a consistent sex life. Then the study collected relevant data by offering eight sessions of a group counseling program, and carried out an analysis with an approach to case studies. As a result of the research, there were changes in their perceptions about and current life satisfaction, relationships for unity, pleasure relaxation active self-expression, sexual relations. After their participation in the program, participants had a positive perception about a sex concept, namely sexuality and they came to think about the need for an increase of sexuality for raising the satisfaction of life in late years. These research results would be offered as basic data of research into sexuality which may be able to enhance the quality of the lives of elderly people, such as the positive recognition of sex, active sexual intercourses, and the improvement of self-esteem.

The type of strategy in the course of set up the theory are (1) the form of concept definition, (2) the form of solution offer, (3) inductive form and deductive form, (4) the form of example offer. The type of strategy in the course of contradict are (1) the form of soliloquy, (2) the form of claim comparison, (3) the form of partial recognition. The type of strategy in the course of cross examination are (1) the form of question in return and contradict, (2) the form of partial consent contradict. We believe this study will improve the communication ability and negotiation ability and also make a great contribution to improve the leadership of 21-century type if this study will be used in the field of education.

This design is for the landscape of Busan Yeonje Post Office. The design requirements were: the preparation of an open space, the expression of regional identity, total design concept, and application of environmentally-friendly materials. The Busan Yeonje Post Office is not a just post office building but also a place for people including a communications center, rental offices, and a post office, facilities which require publicity, functionality, and symbolism. Therefore, this design reflected the design requirements, and considered the following to include the theme of "Pleasant messages and a pleasant post office with vitality and comfort. First, the open space was to be increased in the adjacent public vacant lot and street park by pulling back the construction line. In this way, the publicity, accessibility, and spatiality of the prepared open space were strengthened. Second, a sense of place for the landscape was expressed through the image of a wave representing Busan, a coastal town. Recognition of the space was strengthened, while regional identity and the concept of transmission of information were expressed. In addition, Citrus junos Sieb., representing 'Happy news' was Planted as a symbolic tree to denote a meaningful resting Place. Third, with respect to the design of reception facilities, considering the general purposes of the construction, post office stamps, envelopes, and postal delivery persons were portrayed on the walls, decorative walls, and environmental formations respectively The flooring was decorated with stamps and waves in keeping with of the total design concept. Fourth, to select environmentally-friendly materials, soil block and eco-grass block were introduced as major paving materials, and folk kinds of trees were included on site. According to the aforesaid plans, the researcher attempted to convert the public agency and office space characterized by feelings of dullness and rigidity into a soft and vivid outdoor space. It is expected that the location will be an open place in the downtown area and be recognized as a 'shared' space for citizens of Yeonje-gu.

Maintaining our tradition makes us have pride for our nation and plays important role for recognition and establishment of identity for our unique culture in the world. Contrast to the western scientific technique, the scientific technique of Silla Bell absorbed in the life of our nation is the fruit of wisdom science found through rich life and experience by harmony between our nation and nature. Today, ideological backgrounds for many cultural heritages weren't be found and there are many overflowing hypothesis. Silla Bell is the plastic art including cumulative utopia of the racial spirit. So there would be the information of the racial spirit including symbolization, artistry, creativity, and historicity. However, unlikely with the words, it is the profoundly concentrated shape, so the meaning can be diluted or distorted in later generation. The efforts to figure out the symbolization in Korean bells, especially Silla bell according to its exclusive shape, but no hypothesis was accepted as an established theory of academia by gaining extensive agreements. Thus this paper traces the symbolic meaning accumulated in the shape and prepares for the theoretical background accessing to the artistic spirit of forebears who created super-humanity formativeness. Also regarding the Silla bell which is regarded as the best Buddhist metal craft that people believe they can be free from the anguish at the time of listening to its sound, we studied the symbolization of the bell as the religious ritual custom as well as the possibility to utilize the bell as a motif of living art in the aspect of formative expression.

Accurate encoding of local patterns is a very important factor in texture classification. However, LBP based methods w idely studied have fundamental problems that are vulnerable to noise. Recently, LDP method using edge response and dire ction information was proposed in facial expression recognition. LDP is more robust to noise than LBP and can accommod ate more information in it's pattern code, but it has drawbacks that it is sensitive to rotation transforms that are critical to texture classification. In this paper, we propose a new local pattern coding method called Rotation Invariant Local Direc tional Pattern, which combines rotation-invariant transform to LDP. To prove the texture classification performance of the proposed method in this paper, texture classification was performed on the widely used UIUC and CUReT datasets. As a result, the proposed RILDP method showed better performance than the existing methods.

Emotional expression is universal and emotional state impacts important areas in our life. Until now, analyzing the acquired EEG signals under circumstances caused by invoked feelings and efforts to define their emotional state have been made mainly by psychologists based on the results. But, recently emotion-related information was released by research results that it is possible to identify mental activity through measuring and analyzing the brain EEG signals. So, this study has compared and analyzed emotional expressions of human by using brain waves. To get EEG difference for a particular emotion, we showed specific subject images to the people for changing emotions that peace, joy, sadness and stress, etc. After measured EEG signals were converged into frequence domain by FFT signal process, we have showed EEG changes in emotion as a result of the performance analyzing each respective power spectrum of delta, theta, alpha, beta and gamma waves.

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are pattern recognition receptors that recognize molecular structures derived from microbes and initiate innate immunity. TLRs have two downstream signaling pathways, the MyD88- and TRIF-dependent pathways. Dysregulated activation of TLRs is closely linked to increased risk of many chronic diseases. Previously, we synthesized fumaryl pyrrolidinone, (E)-isopropyl 4-oxo-4-(2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)-2-butenoate (IPOP), which contains a fumaric acid isopropyl ester and pyrrolidinone, and demonstrated that it inhibits the activation of nuclear factor kappa B by inhibiting the MyD88-dependent pathway of TLRs. However, the effect of IPOP on the TRIF-dependent pathway remains unknown. Here, we report the effect of IPOP on signal transduction via the TRIF-dependent pathway of TLRs. IPOP inhibited lipopolysaccharide- or polyinosinic-polycytidylic acidinduced interferon regulatory factor 3 activation, as well as interferon-inducible genes such as interferon inducible protein-10. These results suggest that IPOP can modulate the TRIF-dependent signaling pathway of TLRs, leading to decreased inflammatory gene expression.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of socio-demographic and health-related perceptions and twenty dietary behaviors on the superiority and preference, convenient use of and purchase motives of vegetables among 370 women(mean age 43.9) in Seoul and metropolitan and Gangwon area. Data was collected using a questionnaire developed in advanced studies. Almost all subjects rated vegetables more predominantly than grains or meats on the basis of health, diversity, and convenience to purchase. Recognition of healthly funcions of diet, purpose of diet and some dietary behaviors had influence on preference for vegetables. Those who recognized that diet had the function of disease control and prevention, knew the healthy options vegetables provide us, such as, preventing us from geriatric diseases, good sources of vitamins and minerals and considered other motives aside from health issues. From Pearsons's correlation analysis, it was revealed that sufficient time for meal preparation and pleasant eating and desirable life style and dietary attitudes, and a better understanding of nutrition were positively correlated with consumption of more vegetables and convenient use of vegetables. The subjects who recognized the ability of food to help prevent diseases, had a preference for vegetables and attitude to use nutritional knowledge and also considered the nutrition values of vegetables and environment friendliness. Everyday use of vegetables such as consuming a variety of different vegetables, a families favorite vegetables and variation of cooking methods had correlated positively with purchase motives. Therefore to encourage consumption of vegetables, it is important to notice three points continuously; first, practical information of nutritive values of vegetables, the contribution of vegetables in current animal protein foods centered diet and healthful functionalities. Second, the importance of regular diet and steadfast attitude and lifestyle. Finally, the quality of the market where the products are bought such as, quality control of freshness, sanitation, expression of producer and a pleasant environment to shop in.
