  • Fipronil, the phenylpyrazole insecticide, is effective and used in various fields. Especially, fipronil was reliable because it was known to be specific on invertebrate animals than vertebrate animals including mammals. However, fipronil had potential risks that affect vertebrate animals as it blocks the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors that also exists in vertebrates as well as invertebrates. Therefore, it was necessary that harmful effects of fipronil on vertebrates are clarified. For this purpose, the zebrafish (Danio rerio) were used on behalf of vertebrate animals in present study. The zebrafish were exposed to 5 ㎍/L, 25 ㎍/L, and 50 ㎍/L of fipronil during 12, 24 and 72 hours. To closely observe toxic process, 12 hours and 24 hours of additional time point were set in the exposure test. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)-based metabolomics is an approach to detect metabolic changes in organism resulted from external stimuli. In this study, NMR-based metabolomics showed the metabolic changes in zebrafish caused by fipronil exposure. Metabolic analysis revealed that fipronil interfered with energy metabolism and decreased the antioxidant ability in zebrafish. Antioxidant ability decline was remarkable at high exposure concentration. In addition, metabolic analysis results over time suggested that reactions for alleviating the excessive nerve excitation occurred in zebrafish after fipronil exposure. Through this study, it was elucidated that the adverse effects of fipronil on vertebrate animals are evident. The risk of fipronil on vertebrates can be no longer ignored. Moreover, this study has a meaning of practically necessary research for organism by examining the effects of fipronil at low concentrations existed in real environment.

  • In this paper, we analyze several exposure time schedules to obtain uniform multiple hologram and measure the diffraction efficiencies of holograms stored in $LiNbO_3$:Fe(0.015wt%) crystal through experiments. The minimum angular selectivity and the intensity ration of two incident beams are investigated precisely by the high resolution system(minimum angle : $0.0028^{\circ}$). Considering initial recording time, total exposure time and time constants, the efficiency distribution(0.014 ${\pm}$ 0.005%) of 100 holograms is measured and the 330 analog images are recorded in the same place. Also, total 500 holograms are retrieved by spatial multiplexing.

  • New photopolymers were designed and prepared using the photosensitive polymer binders. Holographic gratings were successfully fabricated in these photopolymer samples by a conventional optical interference method. We also investigated the effect of photocrosslink in the polymer binder on the diffraction behavior of a new photopolymer. The dynamic behavior of the grating formation was monitored by changing exposure intensity in terms of the diffraction efficiency. Particularly, we focused our efforts in observing the variation of diffraction efficiency during a post UV curing process. The surface topographical change of photopolymer layer before and after Vis/UV light exposure was observed by atomic force microscope (AFM). We inscribed the gratings of the glass diffuser on the surface of the photopolymer and investigated their diffusing properties. The diffusers with photopolymer with the main chain polymer binder showed relatively good viewing angle of around ${\pm}30{\circ}$. Two kinds of photopolymer showed similar uniformity of around 47-54%.

  • This paper is investigated on the sublimation in obliguely deposited a-$Se_{75}Ge_{25}$ films. With varying the treatment conditions, the transmittance in each of $0^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, and $80^{\circ}$-deposited films and the absorbance in $80^{\circ}$-deposited film were measured. By increasing the angle of deposition, the variation of transmittance in post-exposure annealing film showed the characteristic different from that in only exposed film or annealed film. And the changes of thickness in $80^{\circ}$-deposited film were measured. The results showed that the changing rate of thickness was 1.4% in exposed film and 9.4% in post-exposure annealing film. Therefore, in $80^{\circ}$-deposited film, the possibility for sublimatin due to physical and chemical change by post-exposure annealing can be suggested.

  • We studied the nematic liquid crystal (NLC) alignment capability by the Ultraviolet (UV) alignment method on a-C:H thin-films, and investigated electro-optical performances of the UV aligned twisted nematic (TN)-liquid crystal display (LCD) with the UV exposure on a-C:H thin film surface. A good LC alignment by UV irradiation on a-C:H thin-film surfaces was achieved. Monodomain alignment of the UV aligned TN-LCD can be observed. The good electro-optical (EO) characteristics of the UV aligned TN-LCD was observed with oblique UV exposure on the a-C:H thin film surface for 1min.

  • Photosensitive polyimides containing cinnamoyl and coumarin side groups were synthesized in a high molecular weight, giving a good quality of films. Nematic liquid-crystal (LC) molecules on the film were aligned along the direction with an angle of $97-99^{\circ}$ respect to the polarization of ultraviolet (UV) light. The LC alignment was induced mainly by the photoaligned polymer chains made by the first UV-exposure even though the film was treated by multiple exposures with changing the polarization of UV light. From these results, it is concluded that the LC alignment on the film is induced by the photodimerization rather than the trans-cis photoisomerization.

  • To insure accuracy in dental roentgenographs, it is important that the patient's head position and angulation of the x-ray tube. In 1907 Cieszynski applied the rule of isometry to dental radiography and established that in the production of an accurate image of a tooth, the central ray must be porjected perpendicularly to a plane bisecting angle formed by the longitudinal axis of the tooth and the film plane. Proper exposure of the film is a part of the production of a good dental radiograph, and correct processing also makes an essential contribution to the quality of the radiograph. The author analysed the failure of exposure and processing results, and recommended followings. 1. The patient head must be positioned that occlusal plane are parallel with the horizontal floor. 2. Central ray must be projected to the objective tooth and supporting structure and projected as perpendicularly to tooth axis and film surface as possible. 3. In processing, the temperature of the solution and the processing time must be correct.

  • Two double-exposure holograms are made in the different view angle at the same time, using laser, by overlapping before and after the static deformation. These images are transfered to the computer. The fringe patterns of holograms are recognized by image processing and each component of the displacement and strain at each point of the specimen is obtained by vector analysis, and the results were presented in the graphical form. For the verification of all the ment process, the two experimental cases, the in-plane displacement by tension load and the out-of-plane displacement by bending load, are measured. These results are compared with the exact solution.

  • Two-dimensional (2D) nano patterns including a two-dimensional Bravais lattice were fabricated by laser interference lithography using a two step exposure process. After the first exposure, the substrate itself was rotated by a certain angle, $90^{\circ}$ for a square or rectangular lattice, $75^{\circ}$ for an oblique lattice, and $60^{\circ}$ for a hexagonal lattice, and the $90^{\circ}$ and laser incident angle changed for rectangular and the $45^{\circ}$ and laser incident angle changed for a centered rectangular; we then carried out a second exposure process to form 2D bravais lattices. The band structure of five different 2D nano patterns was simulated by a beam propagation program. The presence of the band-gap effect was shown in an oblique and hexagonal structure. The oblique latticed ZnO nano-photonic crystal array had a pseudo-bandgap at a frequency of 0.337-0.375, 0.575-0.596 and 0.858-0.870. The hexagonal latticed ZnO nano-crystallite array had a pseudo-bandgap at a frequency of 0.335-0.384 and 0.585-0.645. The ZnO nano structure with an oblique and hexagonal structure was grown through the patterned opening window area by a hydrothermal method. The morphology of 2D nano patterns and ZnO nano structures were investigated by atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The diameter of the opening window was approximately 250 nm. The height and width of ZnO nano-photonic crystals were 380 nm and 250 nm, respectively.
