A locally damaged structure is a structure that cannot be reused due to having parts that have lost their structural function as a result of abnormal load across the interior or exterior of the structure. The causes of the abnormal load occurrences can be classified into natural disaster and artificial disaster. Locally damaged structures caused by this abnormal load have risk factors that may lead to the possibility of additional secondary collapses, so such structures require immediate and complete dismantling. The case presented in this study involves the application of explosive demolition to a steel truss structured bridge in the Philippines that was damaged due to construction failures and the hurricane. Although shaped charges were needed in explosive demolitions, difficulties in locally obtaining such material. So, we made a charge container to charging of emulsion explosive during the explosive demolition. The explosive demolition resulted in the vertical free fall of the mid-section of the bridge and the free fall rotating of the both end section of the bridge. The neighboring posts and bridge piers did not show signs of damages, while post-demolition fragmentation of removed parts was found to be satisfactory.
Explosive blasting utilizes the energy produced from the explosion of explosive materials. Since the black powder, the first type of explosive, was invented, various types of explosives have been developed until a recent emulsion explosive which is powerful as well as safe in use. The detonators continue to be developed from safety fuse to the recent electronic detonators which allow extremely accurate and flexible control of delay time. However, the good explosives and detonators do not always lead to the good blast results. It entirely depends on the blast engineer. It is necessary to develop the empirical or theoretical models based on the field experience and sound theoretical algorithm. Such models would be very useful for blast design and, furthermore, provide the idea of further technical development. This paper introduces some models used in explosive blasting and attention to be paid for field application.

An explosive bolt is one of many representative pyrotechnic release devices that separates two joined structures using explosives inside the bolt. In this study, a 1/2 inch ridge-cut explosive bolt with an EBW detonator was developed for usage in sled tests. The initial shape design was carried out based on the design method, and the performance test showed that the separation performance was outstanding but fragments occurred. Therefore, numerical analysis was performed to reduce the amount of debris by minimizing the amount of explosives. From the numerical analysis, the separation mechanism and characteristics of the ridge-cut explosive bolts were identified, and the minimum amount of explosives that does not generate debris was proposed. Verification tests revealed that the ridge-cut explosive bolts with the proposed explosive weight minimized fragments while maintaining the separation performance.

This study deals with underwater explosion (UNDEX) characteristics of various non-explosive underwater shock sources for the development of non-explosive underwater shock testing devices. UNDEX can neutralize ships' structure and the equipment onboard causing serious damage to combat and survivability. The shock proof performance of naval ships has been for a long time studied through simulations, but full-scale Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) using real explosives have been limited due to the high risk and cost. For this reason, many researches have been tried to develop full scale ship shock tests without using actual explosives. In this study, experiments were conducted to find the characteristics of the underwater shock waves from actual explosive and non-explosive shock sources such as the airbag inflators and Vaporizing Foil Actuator (VFA). In order to derive the empirical equation for the maximum pressure value of the underwater shock wave generated by the non-explosive impact source, repeated experiments were conducted according to the number and distance. In addition, a Shock Response Spectrum (SRS) technique, which is a frequency-based function, was used to compare the response of floating bodies generated by underwater shock waves from each explosion source. In order to compare the magnitude of the underwater shock waves generated by each explosion source, Keel Shock Factor (KSF), which is a measure for estimating the amount of shock experienced by a naval ship from an underwater explosionan, was used.

Structural light weight aggregate concrete are made with both coarse and fine light weight aggregates, but it is common with the high strength concrete to replace all or part with normal weight sand be called class 1 structural light weight aggregate concrete. Fire resistance of structural light weight aggregate concrete are determined by properties of high water content ratio and explosive spalling. Especially, structural light weight aggregate concrete is occurred serious fire performance deterioration by explosive spalling stem from thermal stress and water vapor pressure. This study is concerned with experimentally investigating fire resistance of class 1 structural light weight concrete. From the test result, class 1 structural light weight concrete is happened explosive spalling. The decrease of cross section caused by explosive spalling made sharp increasing gradient of inner temperature.

The present work has been developed the type of non-electric and delay explosive bolt which does not need power supply device and has the delay function in the operation of the explosive bolt. Separation device system could be minimized because of non-electric power supply system. In order to prove the mechanism of operation, the present work used to ignite the initiator the power of air resistance caused front aviation object. we can be founded from the present work that the changes in the operation load influence directly the ignition of the initiator. The design of non-electric and delay explosive bolt is the most suitable the separation system necessary to reduce the velocity of aviation object and safe landing of parachute system.

Cyclonite is a white powder and is very explosive. It can cause seizures (a problem of the nervous system) in human and animals when large amounts are inhaled or eaten. Research papers for workers exposure assesment of the cyclonite are very a few in the world. A field study was conducted at explosive compounds and bomb manufacturing companies to evaluate workers exposure to cyclonite. The airborne average concentration of cyclonite in explosive compounds manufacturing company was $4.10{\mu}g/m^3$(range: ND - $59.92{\mu}g/m^3$), and that of cyclonite in bomb manufacturing company was $31.49{\mu}g/m^3$(range: ND - $291.41{\mu}g/m^3$). Package process and assembly process in both companies were considered the high potential of exposure to cyclonite. Even though all airborne concentrations of cyclonite were lower than occupational exposure standard (MOEL: $500{\mu}g/m^3$), exposure to cyclonite can also occur through dermal contact during manufacture, handling, and clean-up of cyclonite. So control measures for protecting skin absorption of cyclonite were needed for preventing adverse health effect by cyclonite exposure.

The present work has been studied the reliability improvement of inspection method for explosive bolt body. The standard value of impact test is made from impact test of explosive bolt body and a useful data is established to the correlation between the hardness and impact data of bolt body. The method is overcome an error obtained from conventional inspection by analysing the mechanical data from each inspection and can be improved to the reliability when mechanical property of explosive bolt body is inspected.
In the present paper a 3D thermo-hygro-mechanical model for concrete is used to study explosive spalling of concrete cover at high temperature. For a given boundary conditions the distribution of moisture, pore pressure, temperature, stresses and strains are calculated by employing a three-dimensional transient finite element analysis. The used thermo-hygro-mechanical model accounts for the interaction between hygral and thermal properties of concrete. Moreover, these properties are coupled with the mechanical properties of concrete, i.e., it is assumed that the mechanical properties (damage) have an effect on distribution of moisture (pore pressure) and temperature. Stresses in concrete are calculated by employing temperature dependent microplane model. To study explosive spalling of concrete cover, a 3D finite element analysis of a concrete slab, which was locally exposed to high temperature, is performed. It is shown that relatively high pore pressure in concrete can cause explosive spalling. The numerical results indicate that the governing parameter that controls spalling is permeability of concrete. It is also shown that possible buckling of a concrete layer in the spalling zone increases the risk for explosive spalling.

Multi-channel DAQ system was developed to predict propagation characteristic of the shock wave generated by linear explosive. The system can generate shock wave from 1000 points per second using a pulsed laser and simultaneously obtain the shock wave signals using 15 chanel contact sensor. The system is expected to pridict the propagation characteristics of various linear explosive-induced pyroshock because it can be used with a user-defined time delay that corresponds to detonation speed of the linear explosive.
