  • This research concentrates on the potential explosion hazards that could arise from unforeseen accidents in the rapidly proliferating hydrogen refueling stations and Energy Storage System(ESS) facilities. It underscores the pivotal role of structural protection technology in alleviating such risks. The research contributes primary data for the formulation of structure protection design by assessing the impact resistance across various reinforcement techniques used in cement composites. The experimental results elucidate that reinforced concrete, serving as the quintessential structural material, exhibits a 20% advancement in impact resistance in comparison to its non-reinforced counterpart. In situations typified by rapid loads, such as those seen with high-velocity impacts, the reinforcement of the matrix with fibers is demonstrably more beneficial than local reinforcement. These insights accentuate the importance of judiciously choosing the reinforcement method to augment impact resistance in structural design.

  • High strength concrete has been increasingly used in high rue building and it is very obvious re consider fire resistance performance of that. Unlike the normal strength concrete, high strength concrete in sudden elevating temperature at fire is susceptible to spalling with severe explosion and surface split, due to high density of concrete. In order to endure the spalling, inner space temperature of concrete should be control less than certain point. Therefore this study investigated the influence of covering materials on high strength concrete finishing spray-on materials of fiber composite spray mortar(FCSM). Both polypropylene(PP) and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) fiber were used in this test. Test showed that concrete, covering 18mm mortar containing PVA fiber and confining metal lath 2.3mm thickness, decreased 50% of main bar ambient temperature. compared with control concrete. In addition, concrete covering 18mm mortar without fiber caused falling of covering materials and then it was exposed in elevating temperature. As a result, spatting of the concrete occurred same as control concrete. However, concrete covering spray-on mortar containing PVA or PP fiber resisted spatting occurrence.

  • The sharing of common corridors by electric power transmission lines and pipelines is becoming more common place. However, such corridor sharing can result in undesired coupling of electromagnetic energy from the power lines to the near facilities. This causes induced voltages on underground metallic pipelines due to the power line currents. This could cause AC corrosion in the pipeline, which could in turn lead to disastrous accidents, such as gas explosion or oil leakage. This paper investigates for the limitation of induced voltage on the buried metal structures which is used in the inside and outside of the country. And then we measure the earth resistance and leakage current of 22.9kV distribution lines and pipe to soil potential of near pipelines in Seoul Korea. Hereby we can see the leakage current flowing through the earthing electrode have an effect on near pipelines.

  • Foam ceramic materials contribute to the explosion effect weakening on concrete structures, due to the corresponding excellent energy absorption ability. The blast resistance of concrete members could be improved through steel-foam ceramics as protective cladding layers. An approach for the modeling of dynamic response of steel-foam ceramic protected reinforced concrete (Steel-FC-RC) slabs under blast loading was presented with the LS-DYNA software. The orthogonal analysis (five factors with five levels) under three degrees of blast loads was conducted. The influence rankings and trend laws were further analyzed. The dynamic displacement of the slab bottom was significantly reduced by increasing the thickness of steel plate, foam ceramic and RC slab, while the displacement decreased slightly as the steel yield strength and the compressive strength of concrete increased. However, the optimized efficiency of blast resistance decreases with factors increase to higher level. Moreover, an efficient design method was reported based on the orthogonal analysis.

  • Increasing proliferation resistance of plutonium by way of increased $^{238}Pu$ content is of interest to the nuclear nonproliferation and international safeguards community. Considering the high alpha decay heat of $^{238}Pu$, increasing the isotopic fraction leads to a noticeably higher amount of heat generation within the plutonium. High heat generation is especially unattractive in the scenario of weaponization. Upon weaponization of the plutonium, the plutonium may generate enough heat to elevate the temperature in the high explosives to above its self-explosion temperature, rendering the weapon useless. In addition, elevated temperatures will cause thermal expansion in the components of a nuclear explosive device that may produce thermal stresses high enough to produce failure in the materials, reducing the effectiveness of the weapon. Understanding the technical limit of $^{238}Pu$ required to reduce the possibility of weaponization is key to reducing the current limit on safeguarded plutonium (greater than 80 at. % $^{238}Pu$). The plutonium vector evaluated in this study was found by simulating public information on Lightbridge's fuel design for pressurized water reactors. This study explores the temperature profile and maximum stress within a simple (first generation design) hypothetical nuclear explosive device of four unique scenarios over time. Analyzing the transient development of both the temperature profile and maximum stress not only establishes a technical limit on the $^{238}Pu$ content, but also establishes a time limit for which each scenario would be useable.

  • Some defective cells in the battery bank of power systems using batteries result in deterioration of the performance of the total battery bank. Consequently, the battery bank can't perfectly back up the system in occurrence of any power problems and the overcharge of defective cells may lead to their explosion or the occurrence of fire. The developed battery management system in this study enables operators to telemeter and analyze internal resistance, voltages, currents, and temperatures of batteries at remote sites through a PC, so they can detect defective cells before the occurrence of power problems. And adoption of this system ensures extension of battery life.

  • IN order to use it for high-temperature fire, Fireproof boards mainly composed of Ca and Mg used. Korea does not have a fireproof board for explosive high temperatuer fire in tunnel, and it is applying existing fireproof coating. However, when a high-temperature fire(1350℃)with explosion occurs, it can not sustain its strength and can not be destroyed to have fire resistance. Each year, more than 100,100tons of wastes are produced by using Ca as an oyster shell. In this study, we try to determine whether or not to reuse the heat-heated fireproof board.

  • In this study a board was made with good fireproof materials of which test was conducted according to the fireproof test for KS F 2257 construction members, and the temperature in coated steel which has a possibility to explode with concrete surface was measured. It is not appropriate to use normal mortar or mortar covering mixed with P.P. fiber to take a measure to prevent the explosive splalling of high-strength concrete. To finalize an Al-Si (aluminosilicates) board-requires over 30mm in thickness at the minimum for the required fire resistance performance and explosion prevention.

  • The present study aims to present a comprehensive understanding of the performance of neighboring multi-story buildings with different dynamic characteristics under blast loads. Two different scenarios are simulated in terms of explosion locations with respect to both buildings. To investigate the effect of interaction between the neighboring buildings in terms of the induced responses, the separation gap is set to be sufficiently small to ensure collisions between stories. An adequately large separation gap is set between the buildings to explore responses without collisions under the applied blast loads. Several blast loads with different peak pressure intensities are employed to perform the dynamic analysis. The finite-element toolbox Computer Aided Learning of the Finite-Element Method (CALFEM) is used to develop a MATLAB code to perform the simulation analysis. The dynamic responses obtained in the scenarios considered herein are presented comparatively. It is found that the obtained stories' responses are governed mainly by the location and intensity of the applied blast loads, separation distances, and flexibility of the attacked structures. Moreover, explosions near a light and flexible building may lead to a significant decrease in blast resistance because explosions severely influence the dynamic responses of the building's stories.

  • A new manufacturing process of Fe-Cr-Al powder porous metal was attempted. First, ultra-fine fecralloy powders were produced by using the submerged electric wire explosion process. Evenly distributed colloid (0.05~0.5% powders) was dispersed on PU (Polyurethane) foam through the electrospray process. And then degreasing and sintering processes were conduced. In order to examine the effect of sintering temperature in process, pre-samples were sintered for two hours at temperatures of $1350^{\circ}C$, $1400^{\circ}C$, $1450^{\circ}C$, and $1500^{\circ}C$, respectively, in $H_2$ atmospheres. A 24-hour TGA (thermo gravimetric analysis) test was conducted at $1000^{\circ}C$ in a 79% $N_2$+21% $O_2$ to investigate the high temperature oxidation behavior of powder porous metal. The results of the high temperature oxidation tests showed that oxidation resistance increased with increasing sintering temperature (2.57% oxidation weight gain at $1500^{\circ}C$ sintered specimen). The high temperature oxidation mechanism of newly manufactured Fe-Cr-Al powder porous metal was also discussed.
