저온 출구의 배압조건에 따른 볼텍스 튜브의 온도분리 특성 연구 (Temperature Separation Characteristics of a Vortex Tube Based on the Back Pressure of the Cold Air Exit)

  • Electric vehicle ownership is expanding for two reasons: its technology features have enhanced fuel economy, and the number of vehicle emissions regulations is increasing. Battery performance has a large influence on the capability of electric vehicles, and even though battery thermal management has been actively researched, specific technological improvements to battery performance are not being presented. For instance, many industrial applications utilize vortex tubes as components for refrigeration machines because of their numerous intrinsic benefits. If electric vehicles incorporate vortex tubes for battery cooling, performance and efficiency advancements are possible. This study uses a counter-flow vortex tube to investigate its temperature separation characteristics, based on the back pressure of the cold air exit and the difference between the inlet and back pressures. The experiment uses a vortex tube with the following parameters: six nozzle holes, a 20 mm inner vortex diameter (D), a 14D tube length, a 0.7D cold exit orifice diameter, and a nozzle area ratio of 0.142. The measurements prove that the temperature difference between the hot air and cold air decreased because of the flow resistance of the hot air and the backflow phenomenon at the cold air exit. The flow resistance causes the temperature difference to decrease, and the back pressure of the cold air exit influences the flow resistance. The results show that the back pressure significantly influences the efficiency of temperature separation.

  • We study the physical and chemical properties of the molecular clump hosting a young stellar cluster, IRAS 20160+3636, which is believed to have formed via the "collect and collapse" process. Physical parameters of the UC H II region associated with the embedded cluster are measured from the radio continuum observations. This source is found to be a typical Galactic UC H II region, with a B0.5 type exciting star, if it is ionized by a single star. We derive a CN/HCN abundance ratio larger than 1 over this region, which may suggest that this clump is being affected by the UV radiation from the H II region.

  • Purpose: The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is an important inpatient care area where critical patients are treated intensively with advanced medical technology. The level of care of ICU and the modernization of related facilities is an important indicator of health care quality. At the present time, when the Regional public hospitals are frequently expanding, the rational planning of the ICU has become an important part of the medical institutions treating the ICU. The purpose of this study is to present basic data with net area which can be used in the architectural planning of the ICU. Methods: The investigation and analysis of the ICUs were conducted on 26 medical facilities, based on theoretical analysis through relevant guidelines, articles, and documents, and on the basis of the actual space composition and net area analysis through the architectural drawings. Results: This study provides basic data such as zone division, spatial composition, relationship between main activities and zones, composition of facilities in the zone and area ratio within each zone. Implications: The results of this paper are expected to be effective reference materials for future research for rational spatial organization and efficient operation of the Intensive Care Unit in regional public hospitals.

반원형 단면을 갖는 광도파로의 고유모우드의 벡터해 (Vectorial Solutions of the Eigenmodes of the Waveguide with Semicircular Cross-Section)

  • 도파로의 전자기장을 Bessel함수와 삼각함수로 급수전개하고 코어와 클래드간의 경계면에서 유한한 갯수의 점들을 선택하여 각 점에 전자기장의 경계조건을 적용함으로서 반원형 단면을 갖는 광도파로의 벡터해를 구하였다. 그리고 각 고유모우드들의 전파상수와 에너지 분포를 구하여 그 특성을 토의하였다. -H가 E로 바꾸어지는 것을 제외하고는 odd인 모우드와 거의 같았으며, 코어와 클래드의 굴절률 비가 1로 접근함에 따라서 even과 odd 모우드는 서로 축최됨을 볼 수 있었다.

Improving Gas Barrier Property of Polymer Based Nanocomposites Using Layer by Layer Deposition Method for Hydrogen Tank Liner

  • Owing to advantages of polymeric materials for hydrogen tank liner like light-weight property and high specific strength, polymer based composites have gained much attention. Despite of many benefits, polymeric materials for fuel cell tank cause problems which is critical to applications as low gas barrier property, and poor processability when adding fillers. For these reasons, improving gas barrier property of polymer composites is required to study for expanding application fields. This work presents impermeable polymer nanocomposites by introducing thin barrier coating using layer by layer (LBL) deposition method. Also, bi-layered and quad-layered nanocomposites were fabricated and compared for identifying relationship between deposition step and gas barrier property. Reduction in gas permeability was observed without interrupting mechanical property and processability. It is discussed that proper coating conditions were suggested when different coating materials and deposition steps were applied. We investigated morphology, gas barrier property and mechanical properties of fabricated nanocomposites by FE-SEM, Oxygen permeation analyzer, UTM, respectively. In addition, we revealed the mechanism of barrier performance of LBL coating using materials which have high aspect ratio.

A pooled Bayes test of independence using restricted pooling model for contingency tables from small areas

  • For a chi-squared test, which is a statistical method used to test the independence of a contingency table of two factors, the expected frequency of each cell must be greater than 5. The percentage of cells with an expected frequency below 5 must be less than 20% of all cells. However, there are many cases in which the regional expected frequency is below 5 in general small area studies. Even in large-scale surveys, it is difficult to forecast the expected frequency to be greater than 5 when there is small area estimation with subgroup analysis. Another statistical method to test independence is to use the Bayes factor, but since there is a high ratio of data dependency due to the nature of the Bayesian approach, the low expected frequency tends to decrease the precision of the test results. To overcome these limitations, we will borrow information from areas with similar characteristics and pool the data statistically to propose a pooled Bayes test of independence in target areas. Jo et al. (2021) suggested hierarchical Bayesian pooling models for small area estimation of categorical data, and we will introduce the pooled Bayes factors calculated by expanding their restricted pooling model. We applied the pooled Bayes factors using bone mineral density and body mass index data from the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted in the United States and compared them with chi-squared tests often used in tests of independence.

미세먼지 유도 천식의 한약유효성 평가연구 동향 Pubmed를 중심으로 (Trends in research on the efficacy of herbal medicines for particular matter-induced asthma focused on Pubmed)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to review the experimental research trends in asthma caused by particulate matter to conduct further researches, especially in clinical trials. Methods: We searched for the meaningful literature using medicinal herb for asthma through the Pubmed databases. Results: Finally, six studies were finally selected. These studies showed recent trends, from 2018 to 2021 and conducted mostly in South Korea. The type of fine dust and the method of inducing asthma are different for each paper, but the effective mechanism is relatively common. It was commonly confirmed that the ratio and number of eosinophils, th2 cells and related cytokines are decreased in BALF and lung tissue by administration of medicinal herb. Conclusions: Although the method of inducing asthma using fine dust has not yet been standardized, it is thought that more meaningful evaluation results can be derived if a standardized animal model is established in the future. Nevertheless, based on the results that herbal medicine is effective for particular matter induced asthma, it is expected that it will be the basis for expanding into future clinical studies.

메타카올린과 폐타이어 잔입자를 사용한 고강도콘크리트의 내화성능에 관한 기초적 연구 (Fundamental Study of Fire-Proof Characteristics of High Strength Concrete Using Meta-Kaolin and Waste Tire Chip)

  • 메타카올린을 시멘트 치환재로, 잔골재를 폐타이어 잔입자로 일부 치환시킴으로써 건축물 화재시 고강도콘크리트를 폭렬로부터 보호하는 한편, 내부에 배근된 철근의 온도 상승을 억제하는 방법의 검토 및 이들 재료를 혼입한 고강도콘크리트의 기초적 성상에 대하여 검토하였다. 검토 결과 메타카올린은 콘크리트 자체의 내화성을 향상시키며, 고강도콘크리트의 내부 팽창압의 상쇄 기능을 폐타이어 잔입자가 분담할 수 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 세부적으로는 메타카올린을 시멘트에 대해 4$\sim$8%의 중량비로, 폐타이어 잔입자를 0.6$\sim$3 mm의 입도 범위를 사용하며, 잔골재인 모래에 대해 5$\sim$10%의 중량비로 치환하는 것이 고강도콘크리트의 폭렬 방지를 위해 유효한 배합 수준인 것으로 분석되었다.

Improvement plan for vegetables by introducing the production and shipment stabilization policy

  • This paper investigated the effects of a government production and shipment stabilization policy and the improvement plan for vegetables in Korea. In this study, a simulation focused on the changes in farm income for Chinese cabbages & radishes using scenarios. The result shows an increase in farm income according to the government policy. In the short-term, demand and supply are fixed, and the policy effect is positive due to the price support effect of the project. However, for mid- to long-term, the price decreases due to the expansion of supply by business beneficiaries, which is likely to be adversely affected by an unstable supply and demand. This increases the burden of government and local government subsidies. This phenomenon is expected to be amplified as the ratio of production and shipbuilding stabilization programs and items expand. When expanding items and adjusting and setting the percentage of participation in the project, it is desirable to set and operate the appropriate business ratio taking into consideration the demand. To improve the effectiveness of the policy, the following remedies were suggested. First, national supply and demand guidelines should be set up, and the autonomous supply and demand control of the producers should be guided by the different preservation according to the implementation of the supply and demand control obligation. As for detailed equipment, it is necessary to establish the reproduction price for each item, set the base price for each wholesale market, increase the incentive for the producers to participate, and fund a business budget to secure business stability.

가중합 유전자 알고리즘 기반의 다목적 최적화를 이용한 톤 삽입 PAPR 저감 기법 (A Tone Injection PAPR Reduction Method using Multi-objective Optimization based on Weighted-sum Genetic Algorithm)

  • OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 시스템을 포함한 다중 반송파 시스템에서 발생하는 PAPR(Peak-to-Average Power Ratio)을 감소시키기 위해 특정 톤 위치에 새로운 톤을 삽입하는 톤 삽입 기법은 성상도를 확장하여 평균 신호전력 대비 최대 신호 전력을 감소시키는 기법이다. 이러한 톤 삽입 기법은 최적의 PAPR 저감 성능을 얻기 위한 삽입 톤 결정을 위해 많은 탐색 연산량을 필요로 함과 동시에 높은 전력상승의 문제를 야기하는 반면, 전력상승을 고려하여 삽입 톤을 결정하면 사용 가능한 톤 삽입 신호가 제한됨에 따라 PAPR 저감 성능이 낮아진다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존의 톤 삽입 기법이 갖는 상충적인 목적들을 다목적 최적화 기법에 적용하여 PAPR 저감 성능과 전력상승을 절충하여 상호간의 유연한 조절이 가능한 가중함 유전자 알고리즘 기반의 톤 삽입 기법을 제안한다 모의 실험을 통하여 제안한 가중함 유전자 알고리즘 기반의 톤 삽입 방법은 PAPR과 전력상승의 문제를 사용자의 의사를 반영하는 가중치에 따라 적절하게 조절할 수 있음을 확인하였다.
