In this study, evaluation system of the thermal properties of the exothermic agents was investigated. Exothermic agents property evaluation system was developed by metering variation of power supply. Thermal properties of exothermic agents was affected by material mixture condition of exothermic agents, however, it was not affected by temperature. It is possible to make various exothermic agents by means of regulating thermal properties which is based on property evaluation system of exothermic agents.
The thermal stability of nitric acid solutions after contact with non-irradiated and irradiated tributyl phosphate (TBP) and its solution in Isopar-M has been studied. It has been established that exothermic processes occur during heating due to the interaction of soluble radiolysis products and the decomposition of the extractant with nitric acid. Such processes can occur at temperatures below 100 ℃, but unlike a thermal explosion that occurs in seconds, they are longer in time and are accompanied by weak heat evolution. Their intensity depends on the composition of the extractant, the concentration of HNO3, and the volume ratio of the organic and aqueous phases. The presence of extractant degradation products in raffinates does not pose a risk of a rapid evolution of gaseous products during evaporation, however, the presence of reducing agents can significantly increase the intensity of the exothermic decomposition of raffinates.
The thermal stability of carbohydrazide, hydrazine nitrate, acetohydroxamic acid in nitric acid solutions has been studied at atmospheric pressure and above atmospheric pressure. The volumes of gaseous products of thermolysis and the maximum rate of gas evolution have been determined at atmospheric pressure. It has been shown that, despite the high rate of gas evolution and large volumes of evolved gases, the conditions for the development of autocatalytic oxidation are not created. Exothermic processes are observed in a closed vessel in the temperature range of 50-250 ℃. With an increase in the concentration of nitric acid, the temperatures of the onset of exothermic effects for all mixtures decrease, and the values of the total thermal effects of reactions increase, to the greatest extent for solutions with carbohydrazide.
The exothermic cure kinetics of epoxy resin was controlled by hardener containing fast and slow curing agents. The epoxy risen comprises hydrogenated bisphenol A-based epoxide (HBA), fast curing agent (FH) and slow curing agent poly(propyleneglycol)bis(2-aminopropylether) (SH). Talc was used as an inorganic additive. In the process of curing, cure kinetics along with temperature was monitored by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermocouple to show that the temperature increase was well controlled by adjusting the hardener mixture. Additionally, bending and tensile strengths of the epoxy/talc composites were also measured to be lower and higher with the amount of the talc inorganic additive, respectively. It is thus concluded that the increase in the temperature during exothermic curing reaction and mechanical properties of epoxy resins are tuned by optimizing hardener mixture for successful stone conservation.
Parent glasses for the experiments were prepared to be ratio of Li2O : Al2O3 : SiO2=4.5 : 25 : 70.5 as basic components, and TiO2 and ZrO2 in the mixing ratio of 1 : 1 were added as the nucleating agents, whose contents were increased in each sample. DTA, XRD, SEM, IR were observed, and thermal expansion and transmissivities were measured for the crystallized samples under the controlled heat-treatments. The transformation temperatures and the dilatometric softening temperatures in thermal expansion curves, and also the exothermic peaks in differential thermo-analytical curves were shifted to lower temperature. The crystal phase deposited through the heat-treatment was identified as ${\beta}$-quartz solid solution with XRD and IR analysis. The crystalline phases in oopactified samples were ${\beta}$-spodumene coexiting with ${\beta}$-quartz solid solution. The samples having more than 3% nucleating agents were transparent. The crystallized grain sizes were ranged 0.05 to 0.1$\mu\textrm{m}$. The crystallized transparent samples were exceeded 85% in the transmissivity.
The risk assessment of thermal hazard to identify chemical or process hazard during early process developments have been considered. The early identification of thermal hazards associated with a process, such as rapid heats of reaction, exothermic decompositions, and the potential for thermal runaways before any large scale operations are undertaken. This paper presents to evaluate the safe operating parameters/envelope for exist plant operations. The assessment of thermal hazard with operating conditions such as amount of process materials, inhibitor, and catalyst on esterification process in manufacture of concrete mixture agents are described. The experiments were performed by a sort of calorimetry with the Multimax reactor system as a screening tool. The aim of the study was to evaluate the thermal risk of process material and mixture in terms of safety security to be practical applications in esterification process. It suggested that we should provide the thermal hazard of reaction materials to present safe operating conditions with cause of accident through this study.
The early identification of thermal hazards associated with a process such as the heats of reaction, exothermic decompositions, and the understanding of thermodynamics before any large scale operations are undertaken. The evaluation of reaction factors and thermal behavior on esterification process in manufacture of concrete mixture agents are described in the present paper. The experiments were performed in the differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), C 80 calorimeter, and thermal screening unit($TS^u$). The aim of the study was to evaluate the thermal stability of single material and mixture in esterification process. We provided the thermal data of chemical materials to present safe operating conditions through this study.
To determine the effect of chain length of linear amine curing agents on the thermal and mechanical properties, standard epoxy resin, diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) was cured with diethylenetriamine (DETA), triethylenetetraamine (TETA) and tetraethylenepentaamine (TEPA) in a stoichiometrically equivalent ratio. From this work, the effect of linear amine curing agents on the thermal and mechanical properties was significantly influenced by chain length of curing agents. In contrast, the results showed that the DGEBA/DETA system had higher values than the DGEBA/TETA and DGEBA/TEPA system in the density, shrinkage (%), thermal expansion coefficient, tensile modulus, and flexural strength. Whereas the DGEBA/DETA cure system had lower values than the DGEBA/TETA and DGEBA/TEPA cure system in the maximum exothermic temperature, conversion (%), and T$_{g}$. These findings imply that the differences in the maximum conversion about the chain length of curing agents affect the thermal and mechanical properties.s.
To determine the effect of numbers of nitrogen atom bonded at ethyl group included in main chain of linear amine curing agents of epoxy-cure systems on the thermal and mechanical properties, standard epoxy resin DGEBF was cured with DETA, TETA and TEPA in a stoichiometrically equivalent ratio. From this work, the effect of curing agents of the DGEBF/amine systems oil the thermal and mechanical properties was significantly influenced by numbers of nitrogen atom of curing agents. The results showed that heat of reaction increased, and maximum exothermic temperature decreased with the decrease of numbers of nitrogen atom. In case of cured systems, density and maximum conversion(%) had no relation to numbers of nitrogen atom, but flexural modulus and tensile modulus increased with the decrease of numbers of nitrogen atom in main chain. Thermal stability, shrinkage(%), Tg, tensile and flexural strength showed irregular tendency having nothing to do with numbers of nitrogem atom at a sight. This findings imply that the differences in the maximum conversion(%) about the chain length of curing agents affect the thermal and mechanical properties.
Recently, various nanoparticles have been used for filler in polymer matrices. The particles of nano size are whether high or not cross-link density in polymer affects the thermal and mechanical properties of one. The properties change as a result of chemical reactions between the nanoparticles and the surface of the polymer. There are two models for nanocomposites: "repulsive interaction" and "attractive interaction" between the nanoparticles and matrix. In this study, the variation in the curing mechanism was examined when nano-size $TiO_2$ was dispersed into an epoxy (Bisphenol A, YD-128) with different curing agents. The results of this study showed that the exothermic temperature and Tg in the case of the nanoparticles used (Jeffamine) (D-180) at room temperature were reduced by an increase in the $TiO_2$ contents because of the "repulsive interaction" between the nanoparticles and the matrix. The tensile strengths were increased by increasing amounts of $TiO_2$ until 3 wt% because of a dispersion strengthening effect caused by the nanoparticles, because of the repulsive interaction. However, such tensile properties decreased at 5 wt% of $TiO_2$, because the $TiO_2$ was agglomerated in the epoxy. In contrast, in the case of the nanoparticles that used NMA and BDMA, the exothermic temperature and Tg tended to rise with increasing amounts of $TiO_2$ as a result of the "attractive interaction." This was because the same amounts of $TiO_2$ were well dispersed in the epoxy. The tensile strength decreased with an increase in the $TiO_2$ contents. In the general attractive interaction model, however, the cross-link density was higher, and tensile strength tended to increase. Therefore, for the nanoparticles that used NMA, it was difficult to conclude that the result was caused by the "attractive model."
