DOC의 K-7 Mode에 의한 배기가스 저감에 관한 연구 (A Study on Exhaust Gas Reduction By K-7 Mode of DOC)

  • With the significant growth of the number of vehicles environmental problems is raised. NOx SOx, and PM emissions in diesel powered vehicles are larger than that in gasoline because the development of pollutants reduction techniques has not been yet achieved. So it is need to develop after-tratment or to convert into alternative fuel to satisfy emission regula-tion. Among the after-treatment systems to reduce the diesel emissions studies with diesel oxidation catalyst(DOC) are done greatly. In this study using DOC reduction efficiency with the change of temperature and catalyst loading was calculated through measurements of CO, HC, PM. and SOX.

디젤엔진 연소공기 습식여과기의 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development of the Wet Type Filter for Combustion Air of Diesel Engine)

  • In this paper, the performance of wet type filter for diesel engine combustion air has been studied with effects of air temperature, humidity, and pressure. After experiments are performed without diesel engine, it has been investigated the applicability to diesel engine. Wet type filter for diesel engine combustion air had advantages that it is not necessary to change air filter and that engine exhaust gas is environmentally friendly due to low NOx and particulate emission. Also, the filtration performance has been carried out with smoke shell.

레이저 시트빔을 이용한 디젤엔진의 Soot 농도 계측 (Soot Concentration Measurement in Diesel Engine Using Laser Sheet Beam)

  • Recently the laser sheet technique has been developed to improve our limited understanding of the in-cylinder diesel combustion. The technique is capable of high temporal and spatial resolution, so that it is proved to be an adequate combustion diagnostics to find out exhaust emission formation. The optical signals of LIS(Laser Induced Scattering) and LII(Laser Induced Incandescence) images show informations for soot concentration within the optically accessible diesel engine. The LIS and LII signal images of soot concentration provide new insight into where and when soot occurs in a diesel engine.

Measurement of suction air amount at reciprocating engine under stationary and transient operation

  • The air-fuel ratio of an internal combustion engine must be controlled with accuracy for the improvements of exhaust emission and fuel consumption. Therefore, it is necessary to measure the exact instantaneous amounts of fuel and suction air, so we carried out the experiments for measuring the air flow velocity in a suction pipe of an internal combustion engine using three types of instantaneous air flowmeter. The results obtained can be summarized as follows: (1) The laminar-flow type flowmeter is able to measure both the average and the instantaneous flow rate, but it is necessary to rectify the pulsating air flow in the suction pipe. (2) The a spark-discharge type flow velocity meter is able to measure the instantaneous air velocity, but it is necessary to choose the suitable electrode form and the spark character. (3) The tandem-type hot-wire flow velocity meter indicates the instantaneous flow velocity and its flow direction.

  • Recently the use of Pd catalyst have been continued to expand because of cost avaliabilityand performance advantages. Especially the Pd+Rh catalyst instead of the Pt+Rh catalyst had been used for most of three way catalysts because of the more stringent emission standards and its higher temperature effectiveness. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the design parameter impacts on the Pd+Rh cat-alyst for the automotive exhaust catalysts application. This study was investigated on the catalyst efficiency for the volume and the precious metal loading of the Pd+Rh ceramic monolithic cata-lyst. And experiments concerning the effects of volume and precious metal loading on Pd+Rh three way catalysts were conducted to examined the catalyst light-off temperature and conver-sion efficiency on higher volume demonstrated almost similar performance. But their effects on higher precious metal loading demonstrated considerably better performance.

  • The exhaust gas emission from marine diesel engines is one of the major environmental issues. The authors focus the use of photovoltaic energy for the electric power system on marine ships. This paper proposes an operation method of a photovoltaic/diesel hybrid generating system for a small ship in consideration of the fluctuating photovoltaic power due to solar radiation. The aim of the proposed operation method is to minimize the fuel consumption and storage capacity of the battery. The validity of the proposed control method is shown by the numerical simulation based on the experimental data of the photovoltaic system.

  • The emission in the exhaust gas from diesel engine is effected by the fuel spray characteristics. The spray of D.I. diesel engine impinges on a piston cavity and a cylinder wall. It is very important to know exactly the distribution and behavior of the spray inside cylinder. The objective of this study is to develop more accurate evaporation model. The EPISO code was used to analyze the flow characteristics in the engine. The Wakil model and the Faeth model are applied to the EPISO code to analyze the behavior of impinging spray. And also experimental and numerical analysis were carried out. The spray behavior characteristics were investigated by changing injection pressure, ambient pressure and temperature. The behavior of impinging spray was strongly effected by the change of ambient pressure and temperature. The effects of evaporation and rebounding droplet should be considered.

  • 오랫동안 디젤엔진의 성능에 지배적인 요인에 대하여 많은 연구들이 있었으며 디젤엔진의 오염 문제는 아직도 중요한 환경문제이다. 본 연구에서는 디젤엔진의 매연저감장치에 대한 새로운 제안을 한다. 새로운 제안은 진공압을 이용하여 매연을 포집한다. 새로운 제안을 확인하기 위해 엔진 다이나모시험을 수행하였다. 그 결과 매연을 줄일 수 있었다.

Investigation of In-Cylinder Flow Patterns in 4 Valve S. I. Engine by Using Single-Frame Particle Tracking Velocimetry

  • The in-cylinder flow field of gasoline engine comprises unsteady compressible turbulent flows caused by the intake port, combustion chamber geometry. Thus, the quantitative analysis of the in-cylinder flow characteristics plays an important role in the improvement of engine performances and the reduction of exhaust emission. In order to obtain the quantitative analysis of the in-cylinder gas flows for a gasoline engine, the single-frame particle tracking velocimetry was developed, which is designed to measure 2-dimensional gas flow field. In this paper, influences of the swirl and tumble intensifying valves on the in-cylinder flow characteristics under the various intake flow conditions were investigated by using this PTV method. Based on the results of experiment, the generation process of swirl and tumble flow in a cylinder during intake stroke was clarified. Its effect on the tumble ratio at the end of compression stroke was also investigated.

저온 반응장에서 요소 수용액의 환원제 전환에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Conversion of Reducing Agent from Aqueous Urea Solutions under Low Reaction Temperature)

  • Urea-SCR which is one of the aftertreatment technologies for reducing the NOx emission is widely used. An experimental study was performed to investigate urea decomposition under various thermo-fluid conditions, with different temperatures and velocities of inflow gas, and urea solution quantities. 40 wt. % aqueous urea solutions were used in this study. The inflow gas conditions were similar to the exhaust conditions of a large marine engine. The spray performance of urea solution injector was identical under all experimental conditions. The conversion efficiency of $NH_3$ was larger than that of HNCO under all experimental conditions, unlike for the theoretical thermolysis reaction.
