The Green Mode of Parks and Green Space Construction -a Study on the Exemplary Type of Ecological Landscape-

  • As for the green space construction of the modern parks, landscape design is not only for the aesthetics but its also to promote the spiritual connotation. The appearing of the exemplary type of ecological landscape reflects landscape architects have developed realization and wishes to improve the deteriorating environment and put them into practice. This paper introduces the basic intension of the exemplary type of ecological landscape, and discusses the relative background and ecological aesthetic foundation of the exemplary ecological landscape which appeared under the crisis of urban environment; lists the modern landscape designers practices of the exemplary ecological landscape; studies the developing trend of this practice which becomes multifold along with the reformation of city.

Analysis on the Theoretical Models Related to the Integration of Science and Mathematics Education: Focus on Four Exemplary Models

  • The purposes of this study were to inform the exemplary models of integrated science and mathematics and to analyze and discuss their similarities and differences of the models. There were two steps to select the exemplary models of integrated science and mathematics. First, the second volume (Berlin & Lee, 2003) of the bibliography of integrated science and mathematics was analyzed to identify the models. As a second step, we selected the models that are dealt with in the School Science Mathematics journal and were cited more than three times. The findings showed that the following four exemplary theoretical models were identified and published in the SSM journal: the Berlin-White Integrated Science and Mathematics (BWISM) Model, the Mathematics/Science Continuum Model, the Continuum Model of Integration, and the Five Types of Science and Mathematics Integration. The Berlin-White Integrated Science and Mathematics (BWISM) Model focused an interpretive or framework theory for integrated science and mathematics teaching and learning. BWISM focused on a conceptual base and a common language for integrated science and mathematics teaching and learning. The Mathematics/Science Continuum Model provided five categories and ways to clarify the extent of overlap or coordination between science and mathematics during instructional practice. The Continuum Model of Integration included five categories and clarified the nature of the relationship between the mathematics and science being taught and the curricular goals for the disciplines. These five types of science and mathematics integrations described the method, type, and instructional implications of five different approaches to integration. The five categories focused on clarifying various forms of integrated science and mathematics education. Several differences and similarities among the models were identified on the basis of the analysis of the content and characteristics of the models. Theoretically, there is strong support for the integration of science and mathematics education as a way to enhance science and mathematics learning experiences. It is expected that these instructional models for integration of science and mathematics could be used to develop and evaluate integration programs and to disseminate integration approaches to curriculum and instruction.

Exploring Science Communication in Panels of Exhibitions and Proposing its Development Direction in Exhibition Education: Two cases of Natural History Museum

  • The purposes of this study were to explore what components of science communication and its level are contained in text panels of exhibitions in natural history museums and to propose its development direction of exhibition education in Korea. First, to find out the component and level of science communication contained in exhibition panels, the researcher team developed the analyzing tool which was called SEPAT (Science Exhibition Panel Analyzing Tool), then employed them to profile the component and level of science communication. Second, the researchers introduced the exemplary designed media of exhibitions to demonstrate how much science communication could be enhanced. The results were made as follows. First, the components of science communication was considerably weighted toward to 'concept' one. There were also a few 'awareness' and 'engagement', both of which were under 5% in each zone of exhibition and there was not 'NOSI' or 'opinion' embedded in the analyzed exhibitions. Second, the various type of designing exhibitions were found to promote or enhance the restrictedly represented components of science communication. It is suggestable for exhibitions to be designed through various type of 'media' to enhance science communication. Visitors are required to experience rich science communication to meet their educational needs, and exhibition developers in natural history museums and other museums are recommended to be professional in containing all components of science communication through various type of designing exhibitions.

Comparison of the Performance of DART and EWC/SPUDT Type SAW Filters (DART와 EWC/SPUDT형 SAW 필터의 특성 비교)

  • Of various SPUDT SAW filter types, we select the two most common types, DART and EWC/SPUDT, and analyze their performance with the Smith equivalent circuit method. Based on the results for an exemplary case, a usual apodized SAW filter, we investigate the advantage of one type over the other, if any, in a quantitative manner. To compensate for the performance degradation that can happen in the process of the modification of the apodized filer to the SPUDT structure, we apply the triangular weighting technique to wide fingers of the IDT. Further, the variation in performance of the SPUDT structure is investigated in relation to its electrode thickness and the number of fingers. The results in this paper are expected to enable us to easily select an SPUDT type appropriate for each particular application field.

  • Ultra-precision positioning systems basically require high natural frequency and sufficient workspace. To cope with this requirement, flexure hinge mechanisms have been developed. However, previous designs are difficult to satisfy the functional requirements of the system due to difficulty in modeling and optimization process applying fur the independent axiomatic design. Therefore, this paper suggests a new design and design procedure based on semi-coupled, axiomatic design. A spatial 3-DOF parallel type micro mechanism is chosen aa an exemplary device. Based on preliminary kinematic analysis and dynamic modeling of the system, an optimum design is conducted. To check the effectiveness of the optimal parameters obtained by theoretical approach, simulation has been performed by FEM.

  • Micromanipulator is a device that manipulates an object with high precision. Generally, a parallel-type robot has inherently higher precision than a serial-type robot. In most cases, the use of flexure hinge mechanisms is the most appropriate approach to micromanipulators. The micromanipulator is basically required that have high natural frequency and sufficient workspace. However, previous designs are hard to satisfy the required workspace and natural frequency, simultaneously, because the previous micromanipulators are coupled designs. Therefore, this paper suggests a new design parameter as displacement amplifier and new design procedure based on semi-coupled design in axiomatic design. As a consequence the spatial 3-DOF micromanipulator which is chosen as an exemplary device has natural frequency of 500Hz and workspace of $-0.5^{\circ}{\sim}0.5^{\circ}$. To investigate the effectiveness of the displacement amplifier, simulation and experiment are performed.

Common form is at that time, so commonly located in the head of the technician that a form that play an exemplary role in design, or it is concretely assumed for commonly aimed form. in other words, Common form is come into existence on premise for basic design data. Documentation of folk house design know-how is done through this, and the base design and specification of korean private house is written in the contents divided into by areas.

  • This article covenants with the post buckling witticism of carbon nanotube reinforced composite (CNTRC) beam supported with an elastic foundation in thermal atmospheres with arbitrary assumed random system properties. The arbitrary assumed random system properties are be modeled as uncorrelated Gaussian random input variables. Unvaryingly distributed (UD) and functionally graded (FG) distributions of the carbon nanotube are deliberated. The material belongings of CNTRC beam are presumed to be graded in the beam depth way and appraised through a micromechanical exemplary. The basic equations of a CNTRC beam are imitative constructed on a higher order shear deformation beam (HSDT) theory with von-Karman type nonlinearity. The beam is supported by two parameters Pasternak elastic foundation with Winkler cubic nonlinearity. The thermal dominance is involved in the material properties of CNTRC beam is foreseen to be temperature dependent (TD). The first and second order perturbation method (SOPT) and Monte Carlo sampling (MCS) by way of CO nonlinear finite element method (FEM) through direct iterative way are offered to observe the mean, coefficient of variation (COV) and probability distribution function (PDF) of critical post buckling load. Archetypal outcomes are presented for the volume fraction of CNTRC, slenderness ratios, boundary conditions, underpinning parameters, amplitude ratios, temperature reliant and sovereign random material properties with arbitrary system properties.   • Recently, with the increasing popularity of smartphones, mobile applications have been being used in various sectors. In these environments, some mobile applications are being made for special purposes. The mobile campus application is one exemplary type of such special-purpose mobile applications, which have unique characteristics that allow only designated users, belonging to a specific group, to access and use relevant knowledge. The aim of this study is to identify and investigate critical success factors of mobile campus applications based on the DeLone & McLean's information systems (IS) success model and to find unique characteristics of mobile campus applications, compared to general-purpose mobile applications. In order to empirically test our research model, 199 samples were collected from students who actually had experience of using the mobile campus application of A university at least once. The findings of the structural equation modeling using SmartPLS 2.0 confirmed the DeLone & McLean's IS success model, with the exception for relationships between service quality and user satisfaction/intention to use. Moreover, the moderating role of sense of belonging to school on the relationships between quality-related factors (i.e., information, system, and service qualities) and success-related factors (i.e., user satisfaction and intention to use) was examined.

  • Because the university campuses in Seoul have changed to the urban campus type that the boundary of the campus is close to the urban tissue, the relationship between local societies and universities has got more important than before. Recently, through the support of Seoul metropolitan government, some projects for activating campus towns in Seoul have been proceeded. There are two distinctive projects. One is the campus fence afforestation project, and another is the district unit plan for the physical environment improvement of commercial streets around the campus in Seoul. The goal of this study is to analyze the government-university-community partnership for implementation of these two projects related to the model projects and the Hanyang university campus town as the exemplary government-university-community partnership, and to make practical application of other campus town projects to need the harmonious partnership between university neighborhoods and universities.
