A study on the correlation of the structural integrity's reduction factors using parametric analysis (매개변수 해석을 이용한 구조물 건전도 저감 영향인자 상관성 연구)

  • In order to evaluate the impact of ground subsidence and superstructures that are inevitably caused by tunnel excavation, a total of seven major influencing factors of surface subsidence and structural soundness reduction were set, and a Parameter Study using numerical analysis was conducted. Stability analysis was performed using scheme of Boscardin and Cording method and the maximum subsidence amount and the angular displacement, and correlation analysis was performed for each major influencing factor. In addition, it was applied that used the mutual behavior of the ground and the structure by parameter analysis in the site of the 𐩒𐩒𐩒 tunnel located in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, and the applicability of the site was analyzed. As a result, the error was found to be 1.0%, and it could be used as a basic material for determining the appropriate tunnel route under various conditions when evaluating the stability of the structure according to tunnel excavating at the design stage.

Model for predicting ground surface settlement by field measuring and numerical analysis in shield TBM tunnel (현장계측과 수치해석에 의한 쉴드TBM 터널의 지표침하 예측모델)

  • In this study, more convenient model(S-model) for predicting ground surface settlement is developed through comparing field monitoring data of the domestic subway applied shield TBM method with conventional equation & numerical analysis. Sample stations are chosen from whole of excavation section and lateral & vertical ground surface settlement characteristic with excavation are analysed. Based on analysis result, through the comparison with actual monitoring data, the model that is possible to compute maximum surface settlement and settlement influence area is suggested with assumption that lateral surface settlement forms are composed relaxed zone and elastic zone. In addition, vertical ground surface settlement patterns with excavation are similar to cubic-function and S-model with assumption that coefficients are function of tunnel diameter and depth is suggested. Consequently, the ground surface settlement patterns are significantly similar to actual monitoring data and numerical method result. Thus, as a result, when tunnels are excavated using sheild TBM through rather soft weathered soil & rock layer, prediction of ground surface settlement with excavation using convenient S-model is practicable.

Mechanical Properties of the Ground Improved by High Pressure Jet-Grouting and Analysis of Deformation of Propped Retaining Walls (고압분사주입공법으로 보강된 개량체의 특성 및 흙막이벽의 변형해석)

  • Recently, the construction method of high pressure jet-grouting is in wide-use, for the purpose of structure foundation ground, reinforcing of ground behind propped retaining walls and cut-off in order to perform safe construction of underground excavation work. This study was performed a serious of tests of field permeability and unconfined compressive strength upon ground improved established on the ground behind propped retaining walls and examined proper jet mechanism by changing the construction parameter value of high pressure jet-grouting. In addition, we got the conclusion like the followings as a result of inspecting the condition of earth pressure distribution and deformation, using elasto-plastic method and FEM. 1. In that characteristics of strength of ground improved, with the same condition of construction parameter, unconfined compressive strength of sand gravel is shown bigger than that of silty sand by about 1.6 times and cut-off effect is shown to have effect of reducing the permeability of original ground by about 10$^{-2}$ ~10$^{-3}$ cm/s. 2. As a result of analysis of figures of horizontal displacing quantity of propped retaining walls materials regarding before and after High pressure jet- grouting through FEM, the reducing quantity of 0.1~0.3mm in maximum horizontal displacement is shown.

  • In general the strength parameter of the ground will be changed by reinforcing the ground around tunnel. In this case, the concept of tunnel design, such as supporting system, excavation, lining and so on, should be modified based on the failure criteria or the ground changed by the reinforcement. This paper presents the variation mechanism of strength parameters and new failure criteria of the reinforced ground. In order to perform this research, theoretical and experimental works were carried out. It was clearly founded that the cohesion of strength parameters is only increased by reinforcement of ground, especially by rock bolting.

  • The Field robot means the machinery applied for outdoor tasks in construction, agriculture and undersea etc. In this study, to field-robotize a hydraulic excavator that is mostly used in construction working, we have developed an automatic excavation system and an adaptive control system. A model-reference adaptive controller has been designed based on the model that is obtained through off-line system identification. It is illustrated by computer simulations that the proposed control system gives good performance in the trajectory tracking control and the adaptation to parameter variation.

  • The classification of weak rocks is normally connected with the rippability classifications. The excavation of rock is frequently carried out by blasting. A classification of the weak rocks by test blasting with small quantity of explosives was attempted in the present study. The crater ratio and blasting constant that resoled from test blasting were used as a e parameter of the classification. The seismic velocity of rock mass and Protodyakonov's index were also applied for the also rock classification.

  • Hydraulically driven manipulators are superior to electrically driven ones in the power density and electrical insulation. But an electro-hydraulic manipulator using hydraulic actuators has many nonlinear elements, and its parameter fluctuations are greater than those of electrically driven manipulator. So it is relatively difficult to realize not only stable contact work but also accurate force control for the autonomous field tasks such as the maintenance task of high voltage active electric line or the automatic excavation task by hydraulic excavator.   • For achieving stability and economic construction at a retaining wall construction site, quantitative parameters of soil properties with excavation steps coincides with the actual field site. The main parameters of retaining wall design such as deformation modulus and modulus of horizontal subgrade reaction are common with N value of standard penetration test. Therefore, this study is compared and analyzed about the mutual relationship which is SPT, PBT and PMT for overcoming inconsistency of the existing retaining wall design generalized. In addition, modulus of horizontal subgrade reaction and reduction factor with excavation steps are proposed through back analysis of elasto-plasticity and finite element method with actual field monitoring data. Finally, it is purpose that parameter errors are reduced for applying effective retaining wall design at a construction small and medium-sized.

Smart monitoring analysis system for tunnels in heterogeneous rock mass

  • Tunnelling in poor and heterogeneous ground is a difficult task. Even with a good geological investigation, uncertainties with respect to the local rock mass structure will remain. Especially for such conditions, a reliable short-term prediction of the conditions ahead and outside the tunnel profile are of paramount importance for the choice of appropriate excavation and support methods. The information contained in the absolute displacement monitoring data allows a comprehensive evaluation of the displacements and the determination of the behaviour and influence of an anisotropic rock mass. Case histories and with numerical simulations show, that changes in the displacement vector orientation can indicate changing rock mass conditions ahead of the tunnel face (Schubert & Budil 1995, Steindorfer & Schubert 1997). Further research has been conducted to quantify the influence of weak zones on stresses and displacements (Grossauer 2001). Sellner (2000) developed software, which allows predicting displacements (GeoFit$\circledR$). The function parameters describe the time and advance dependent deformation of a tunnel. Routinely applying this method at each measuring section allows determining trends of those parameters. It shows, that the trends of parameter sets indicate changes in the stiffness of the rock mass outside the tunnel in a similar way, as the displacement vector orientation does. Three-dimensional Finite Element simulations of different weakness zone properties, thicknesses, and orientations relative to the tunnel axis were carried out and the function parameters evaluated from the results. The results are compared to monitoring results from alpine tunnels in heterogeneous rock. The good qualitative correlation between trends observed on site and numerical results gives hope that by a routine determination of the function parameters during excavation the prediction of rock mass conditions ahead of the tunnel face can be improved. Implementing the rules developed from experience and simulations into the monitoring data evaluation program allows to automatically issuing information on the expected rock mass quality ahead of the tunnel.
