  • ESO(Evolutionary Structural Optimization) method is known that elements involved low stress value are removed from the previous model or that elements are added around elements involved high stress level on it and then the optimized model is obtained with required weight. Rejection ratio/addition ratio and evolutionary ratio are predefined and elements having lower/higher stress than reference stress, which average Mises stress on edge elements times rejection ratio, are deleted/added. In this study, when the plate having a cutout is subjected various in-plane load, a cutout shape is optimized using ESO method. ANSYS is used to analyse a finite element model and optimization procedure is made by APDL (ANSYS Parametric Design Language). ESO method is useful in rather than a complex structure optimization as well as a cutout shape optimization.

  • The evolutionary structural optimization(ESO) method has been under continuous development since 1992. The bidirectional evolutionary structural optimization(BESO) method is made of additive and removal procedure. The BESO method is very useful to search the global optimum and to reduce the computational time. This paper presents the ranked bidirectional evolutionary structural optimization(R-BESO) method which adds elements based on a rank, and the performance indicator which can estimate a fully stressed model. The R-BESO method can obtain the optimum design using less iteration number than iteration number of the BESO.

  • The monochromatic hyperbolic neutron density wave is conceived as a Rayleigh-like wave with mixed transverse and longitudinal components. It is proved for the first time that the absolute ratio of the longitudinal to transverse interfering components, varies, with increasing the frequency of this wave, from zero to 1. Such a limited variation is to be coined as vibrational enhancement of evolutionary one-speed neutron transport.

  • The shape optimization of composite flexbeam sections of a bearingless helicopter rotor is studied using a finite element (FE) sectional analysis integrated with an efficient evolutionary optimization algorithm called particle swarm assisted genetic algorithm (PSGA). The sectional optimization framework is developed by automating the processes for geometry and mesh generation, and the sectional analysis to compute the elastic and inertial properties. Several section shapes are explored, modeled using quadratic B-splines with control points as design variables, through a multiobjective design optimization aiming minimum torsional stiffness, lag bending stiffness, and sectional mass while maximizing the critical strength ratio. The constraints are imposed on the mass, stiffnesses, and critical strength ratio corresponding to multiple design load cases. The optimal results reveal a simpler and better feasible section with double-H shape compared to the triple-H shape of the baseline where reductions of 9.46%, 67.44% and 30% each are reported in torsional stiffness, lag bending stiffness, and sectional mass, respectively, with critical strength ratio greater than 1.5.

  • In the process of star formation, the density and temperature of associated material, which are the physical conditions for the molecular chemistry, vary dramatically. As a result, the connection between physical and chemical conditions has been used to trace the evolutionary stages in star formation. One chemical tracer for the physical conditions in star forming material is the [HCN]/[HNC] abundance ratio since the ratio strongly depends on the kinetic temperature in molecular clouds. Here we investigate the [HCN]/[HNC] abundance ratios in objects related to the massive star formation. For the investigation, we carried out $H^{13}CN$ and $HN^{13}C$ line observation toward objects in three different evolutionary stages of massive star formation: Infrared dark clouds (IRDCs), High-mass protostellar object (HMPOs), and Ultra-compact HII regions (UCHIIs). According to our observational results, both $H^{13}CN$ and $HN^{13}C$ lines have been detected toward 19 IRDCs, 25 HMPOs, and 31 UCHIIs. We will discuss about the [HCN]/[HNC] abundance ratios in different evolutionary stages of massive star formation and associate the results with the physical conditions of the targets.

  • This paper describes the effect of DME, biodiesel blended fuels on the macroscopic spray characteristics in a high pressure diesel injection system using Background Oriented Schlieren (BOS) method. The BOS method for visualization of impingement evaporation sprays to analyze macroscopic spray properties and evolutionary processes. In this work, the blending ratio of DME in the blended fuel are 0, 50, 100% by weight ratio. In order to investigate the macroscopic impinged spray characteristics under the various injection parameters and blending ratio. In this work, a mini-sac type single-hole nozzle injector with nozzle hole was length 0.7 mm and diameter of 0.3 mm was used. According to the result, the spray area of the collision wall increased as the DME mixing ratio increased, and the evolutionary pattern showed a stepwise increase due to the collision effect of the wall. Also, results of impinged spray area were increased according to increasing injection pressure.

  • We investigate the evolutionary dynamics and the phase transitions of the island model which consists of subdivided populations of individuals confined to two islands. In the island model, the population is subdivided so that migration acts to determine the evolutionary dynamics along with selection and genetic drift. The individuals are assumed to be haploid and to be one of two species, X or Y. They reproduce according to their fitness values, die at random, and migrate between the islands. The evolutionary dynamics of an individual based model is formulated in terms of a master equation and is approximated by using the diffusion method as the multidimensional Fokker-Planck equation (FPE) and the coupled non-linear stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with multiplicative noise. We analyze the infinite population limit to find the phase transitions from the monomorphic state of one type to the polymorphic state to the monomorphic state of the other type as we vary the ratio of the fitness values in two islands and complete the phase diagram of our island model.

  • It has been known that HCN is one of ubiquitous high-density gas tracer, and the abundance ratio between HCN and its Isomer, HNC sensitively depends on kinetic temperature in star-forming regions. Here we investigate the molecular abundance ratio toward three different evolutionary phases of massive star formation: Infrared Dark Clouds, High-mass Protostellar Objects and Ultracompact HII Regions. We obtained the abundances of HCN and HNC using optically thin H13CN and HN13C lines observed with the KVN single-dish telescopes and MAMBO 1.2mm and SCUBA $850{\mu}m$ continuum data. According to our results, the ratio of [HCN]/[HNC] increases statistically with the evolutionary stage, indicative of the effect of temperature. We also found a strong anti-correlation between the column density of molecular hydrogen and the HNC abundance.

  • To reduce stress concentration around the intersection between a spherical pressure vessel and a cylindrical nozzle under various load conditions using less material, the optimization for the distribution of reinforcement has researched. The ranked bidirectional evolutionary structural optimization(R-BESO) method is developed recently, which adds elements based on a rank, and the performance indicator which can estimate a fully stressed model. The R-BESO method can obtain the optimum design using less iteration number than iteration number of the BESO. In this paper, the optimized intersection shape is sought using R-BESO method for a flush and a protruding nozzle. The considered load cases are a radial compression, torque and shear force.

  • Tone Injection (TI) scheme significantly reduces the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of Multicarrier Modulation (MCM). However, the computational complexity of the TI scheme rises exponentially with the extra freedom constellation number. Therefore, a novel immune evolutionary mechanism-based TI scheme is proposed in this paper to reduce the computational complexity. By restraining undesirable degeneracy during the processing, this IEM scheme can dramatically increase the population fitness. Monte Carlo results show that proposed IEM-based TI scheme can achieve a significant PAPR and BER improvement with a low complexity.
