  • Emergence events are the cause of much economic damage. In order to minimize the damage that these events cause, it must be possible to predict what will happen in the future. Accordingly, many researchers have focused on real-time monitoring, detecting events, and investigating events. In addition, there have also been many studies on predictive analysis for forecasting of future trends. However, most studies provide future tendency per event without contextual compositive analysis. In this paper, we present a predictive visual analytics system using topic composition to provide future trends per event. We first extract abnormal topics from social media data to find interesting and unexpected events. We then search for similar emergence patterns in the past. Relevant topics in the past are provided by news media data. Finally, the user combines the relevant topics and a new context is created for contextual prediction. In a case study, we demonstrate our visual analytics system with two different cases and validate our system with possible predictive story lines.

  • Nowadays there are many studies and there's huge development about RFID and WSN which have great developmental potential to many kinds of applications. In particular, the healthcare field is expected to could be securing international competitive power in u-Healthcare and combined medical treatment industry and service. More and more real time application apply RFID and WSN technology to identify, data collect and locate objects. Wide deployment of RFID and WSN will generate an unprecedented volume of primitive data in a short time. Duplication and redundancy of primitive data will affect real time performance of application. Thus, emerging applications must filter primitive data and correlate them for complex pattern detection and transform them to events that provide meaningful, actionable information to end application. In this paper, we design a complex event processing system. This system will process RFID and WSN primitive data and event and perform data transformation. Integrate RFID and WSN system had applied each now in medical treatment through this study and efficient data transmission and management forecast that is possible.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to detect signals of adverse events (AEs) of DPP-IV inhibitors using the KIDs-Korea Adverse Event Reporting System (KAERS) database. Methods: This study was conducted using AEs reported from January 2009 to December 2018 in the KIDs-KAERS database. For signal detection, disproportionality analysis was performed. Signals of DPP-IV inhibitor that satisfied the data-mining indices of reporting odds ratio (ROR) were detected. Results: Among the total number of 10,364 AEs to all oral hypoglycemic agents, the number of reported AEs related to DPP-IV inhibitors was 1,674. Analysis of reported AEs of DPP-IV inhibitors at the SOC levels showed that Respiratory system disorders were the highest at 4.31 (95% CI 3.01-6.17), followed by Skin and appendages disorders at 2.04 (95% CI 1.74-2.38). When analyzing AEs reported at the PT level, pharyngitis was the highest at 73.90 (95% CI 17.59-310.49), followed by arthralgia at 6.08 (95% CI 2.04-18.11), and coughing at 5.21 (95% CI 2.07-13.15). Conclusions: Based on the result of the study, deeper consideration is required according to the characteristics of the patients in prescribing DPP-IV inhibitors among oral hypoglycemic agents, and continuous monitoring of the occurrence of related Adverse Drug Reactions during administration is also required.

  • The advancement and diversification of urban functions has caused an increasing need to improve the reliability of power supplies. The diversification of urban areas causes social disruptions by paralyzing urban functions during power outages. A large power outage occurs in the event of an accident, owing to the subduction of distribution lines. Therefore, in recent years, for the sake of the environment and safety, the safety diagnosis of electric power facilities has become an important issue. In this system, because thermal information changes rapidly during unattended monitoring owing to heat concentration phenomenon due to abnormal load or deterioration, studies have been conducted on the development of a device that can notify the manager at all times.

  • This study presents the design and implementation of a structural health monitoring system based on acceleration measurements which used to observe and investigate the structural performance of the administration building in Seoul National University of Education during an earthquake event. The frequency and spectrum are analyzed to assess the building performance during an earthquake shaking which took place on March 31st, 2014. The results indicate that : the vibration of the roof is more clear and dominant during the shaking, and the response of building during earthquake is so small and safe.

  • Real-time monitoring and controlling manufacturing process is important because of the unexpected events. When unexpected event like mechanical trouble occurs, prior plan becomes unacceptable and a new schedule must be generated though manufacturing schedule is already decided for order. Regenerating the whole schedule, however, spends much time and cost. Thus automated system which monitors and controls manufacturing process is required. In this paper, we present a system which uses radio-frequency identification and computer vision system. The system collect real-time information about manufacturing conditions and generates new schedule quickly with those information.

  • Wavelets are localized in space and in frequency. This localization properties result from the multiresolution analysis of wavelets. The wavelet transform can be used to detect singularity of dynamic systems after the signal is de-noised. We applied the wavelet transform decomposition and do-noising procedures to the Hanaro dynamics consisting of 39 nonlinear differential equation plus Gaussian noise. The numerical tests demonstrate that the wavelet transform de-noising is effective for detection of the abrupt reactivity change and computationally efficient. Thus this wavelet theory could be profitably utilized in a real-time system for automatic event recognition (e.g., reactor condition monitoring).

  • This paper deals with methodology to control an automatic substation system. The control system can predict the power system condition by a voltage stability index (VSI). The strategies in this paper is called as Voltage-Reactive Power Control (VRPC), which regulates an abnormal voltage of a target substation by using coordination between tap changers and shunt capacitor/reactor. This method is efficient for better voltage profile. The monitoring substation includes whole of substations around the contingency event. The control quantities of the monitoring substations are decided by the calculation of the VSI, called as a Z-index. Case studies with BC Hydro-Quebec system are presented to illustrate this approach using real-time simulator.
