Objectives: This study investigated the role of information and communication technology and women's empowerment in contraceptive discontinuation in Indonesia. Methods: The study used data from the 2017 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey and monthly contraceptive calendar data. A Gompertz proportional hazards model was used for analysis. Results: The 12-month contraceptive discontinuation rate was higher among women who had used the Internet in the past year, women who were mobile phone owners, and women who reported having fully participated in household decision-making than among their counterparts. These factors significantly impacted the risk of contraceptive discontinuation in Indonesia, even after controlling for contraceptive method, age, parity, contraceptive intent, education, work status, place of residence, and wealth status. Conclusions: After adjustment for the control variables, a higher risk of contraceptive discontinuation was associated with having used the Internet in the past year, owning a mobile phone, and not participating in household decision-making. Higher contraceptive discontinuation risk was also associated with using contraceptive pills, older age, lower parity, intent of spacing births, more education, current unemployment, and rural residence, and the risk was also significantly higher for those in the lowest household wealth quintile than for those in the fourth household wealth quintile. The association of contraceptive discontinuation with the use of modern information and communication technology and relatively disempowerment in household decision-making may imply that information regarding family planning and contraception should be conveyed via social media as part of setting up an eHealth system. This must include a strong communication strategy to empower and educate women in contraceptive decision-making.

In this paper, we investigate the performances of the serial concatenated convolutional codes (SCCC) and low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes on perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) channels. We discuss the performance of two systems when user bit-densities are 1.7, 2.0, 2.4 and 2.8, respectively. The SCCC system is less complex than LDPC system. The SCCC system consists of recursive systematic convolutional (RSC) codes encoder/decoder, precoder and random interleaver. The decoding algorithm of the SCCC system is the soft message-passing algorithm and the decoding algorithm of the LDPC system is the log domain sum-product algorithm (SPA). When we apply the iterative decoding between channel detector and the error control codes (ECC) decoder, the SCCC system is compatible with the LDPC system even at the high user bit density.
This study analyzes the purchase subsidy for electric light-duty vehicles in terms of environmental benefits and total cost of ownership(TCO). For the environmental benefits, we considered the emissions from the power generation mix and reflected the change in efficiency of electric vehicles according to the temperature distribution. The environmental benefits of driving electric vehicles were estimated to be between KRW 2.2 million and KRW 5.3 million. Also, the TCO of electric vehicles compared to diesel vehicles under the current purchase subsidy was estimated to be about KRW 3.6 million lower for business use and about KRW 6.6 million lower for non-business use. These results imply that it is reasonable to lower the unit price of the purchase subsidy even within the same budget. Moreover, the remaining budget could be better spent on upgrading the charging infrastructure, which would reduce the inconvenience of charging for potential buyers.
In this paper, we study an special type of cyclic codes called skew cyclic codes over the ring ${\mathbb{F}}_p+v{\mathbb{F}}_p+v^2{\mathbb{F}}_p$, where p is a prime number. This set of codes are the result of module (or ring) structure of the skew polynomial ring (${\mathbb{F}}_p+v{\mathbb{F}}_p+v^2{\mathbb{F}}_p$)[$x;{\theta}$] where $v^3=1$ and ${\theta}$ is an ${\mathbb{F}}_p$-automorphism such that ${\theta}(v)=v^2$. We show that when n is even, these codes are either principal or generated by two elements. The generator and parity check matrix are proposed. Some examples of linear codes with optimum Hamming distance are also provided.

In this paper, we suggest GP operators based on tree structure considering tree distributions in structure space and structural difficulties. The main idea of the proposed genetic operators is to place generated offspring into the specific region which nodes and depths are balanced and most of solutions exist. To enable that, the proposed operators are designed to utilize region information where parents belong and node/depth rates of selected subtree. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed approach, experiments of binomial-3 regression, multiplexer and even parity problem are executed. The experiments results show that the proposed operators based on tree structure is superior to the results of standard GP for all three test problems in both success rate and number of evaluations.

In this paper the back-propagation algorithm through omitting redundant learning has been proposed to improve learning speed. The proposed algorithm has been applied to XOR, Parity check and pattern recognition of hand-written numbers. The decrease of the number of patterns to be learned has been confirmed as learning proceeds even in early learning stage. The learning speed in pattern recognition of hand-written numbers is improved more than 2 times in various cases of hidden neuron numbers. It is observed that the improvement of learning speed becomes better as the number of patterns and the number of hidden numbers increase. The recognition rate of the proposed algorithm is nearly the same as that conventional method.
In this paper, we suggest tree-structure-aware GP (Genetic Programming) operators that heed tree distributions in structure space and their possible structural difficulties. The main idea of the proposed GP operators is to place the generated offspring of crossover and/or mutation in a specified region of tree structure space insofar as possible by biasing the tree structures of the altered subtrees, taking into account the observation that most solutions are found in that region. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, experiments on the binomial-3 regression, multiplexor and even parity problems are performed. The results show that the results using the proposed tree-structure-aware operators are superior to the results of standard GP for all three test problems in both success rate and number of evaluations.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate whether the methane (CH4) to carbon dioxide (CO2) ratio (CH4/CO2) and methane-related traits obtained by the sniffer method can be used as indicators for genetic selection of Holstein cows with lower CH4 emissions. Methods: The sniffer method was used to simultaneously measure the concentrations of CH4 and CO2 during milking in each milking box of the automatic milking system to obtain CH4/CO2. Methane-related traits, which included CH4 emissions, CH4 per energy-corrected milk, methane conversion factor (MCF), and residual CH4, were calculated. First, we investigated the impact of the model with and without body weight (BW) on the lactation stage and parity for predicting methane-related traits using a first on-farm dataset (Farm 1; 400 records for 74 Holstein cows). Second, we estimated the genetic parameters for CH4/CO2 and methane-related traits using a second on-farm dataset (Farm 2; 520 records for 182 Holstein cows). Third, we compared the repeatability and environmental effects on these traits in both farm datasets. Results: The data from Farm 1 revealed that MCF can be reliably evaluated during the lactation stage and parity, even when BW is excluded from the model. Farm 2 data revealed low heritability and moderate repeatability for CH4/CO2 (0.12 and 0.46, respectively) and MCF (0.13 and 0.38, respectively). In addition, the estimated genetic correlation of milk yield with CH4/CO2 was low (0.07) and that with MCF was moderate (-0.53). The on-farm data indicated that CH4/CO2 and MCF could be evaluated consistently during the lactation stage and parity with moderate repeatability on both farms. Conclusion: This study demonstrated the on-farm applicability of the sniffer method for selecting cows with low CH4 emissions.

This study was carried out to determine the effect of corn silage and roughage feeding systems on milk yield and milk compositions. The experimental design was allotted into 3 treatments according to the feeding systems of rice straw(rice straw+concentrate: T1), corn silage(corn silage + concentrate: T2) and TMR treatment(Total mixed rate : roughage + concentrate: T3). This research was carried out from Oct. 1988 to Mar. 1999 at Kimcheon Kyungbook. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. The milk yield increased upon T2(31.9$\pm$3.2kg) > T3(29.6$\pm$3.8kg) > T1 treatment(22.5$\pm$2.0kg)(P<0.05), but cows with T2 and T3 produced the highest at third parity while T1 at forth parity. 2. The milk fat percentage was the highest at T3 treatment(3.79$\pm$0.31%), and on the other hand T1 treatment appeared the lowest percentage. Cow at 2nd parity produced the highest milk fat contend over the other parity. 3. There was no significant difference in protein content between treatments and parity, but T2 and T3 were higher than T1 4. Treatment did not affact content of SNF even though T2 and T3 of the SNF revealed to higher than T1. T5 was T3(12.51$\pm$0.57%)>T1(11.71$\pm$0.62%)>T2 treatment(11.52$\pm$0.55%). These were not significant. 5. Somatic cell counts were the highest at T1(39.6 ${\times}$$10^4$cell/ml), but T2 treatment was the lowest as 28.7 ${\times}$$10^4$ cell/ml. These results indicates that com silage(T2) and TMR treatment(T3) could be recommended
Background: Assessment of the nursing staff knowledge, attitude and practices about cervical cancer screening in a tertiary care teaching institute of rural India. Materials and Methods: A cross sectional, descriptive, interview-based survey was conducted with a pretested questionnaire among 262 staff nurses of a tertiary care teaching and research institute. Results: In this study 77% respondents knew that Pap smear is used for detection of cervical cancer, but less than half knew that Pap smear can detect even precancerous lesions of cervix. Only 23.4% knew human papilloma virus infection as a risk factor. Only 26.7% of the respondents were judged as having adequate knowledge based on scores allotted for questions evaluating knowledge about cervical cancer and screening. Only 17 (7%) of the staff nurses had themselves been screened by Pap smear, while 85% had never taken a Pap smear of a patient. Adequate knowledge of cervical cancer and screening, higher parity and age >30 years were significantly associated with self screening for cervical cancer. Most nurese held a view that Pap test is a doctor procedure, and nearly 90% of nurses had never referred a patient for Pap testing. Conclusions: The majority of nursing staff in rural India may have inadequate knowledge about cervical cancer screening, and their attitude and practices towards cervical cancer screening could not be termed positive.
