The present study investigated dynamically and thermally interacting droplets in a closely spaced tandem array. By measuring the velocity and diameter of the droplet traveling along the isothermal vertical plate drag coefficients and vaporization rates of droplets at certain location were obtained. During the experiment initial droplet spacings were less than 5, and initial droplet diameters were ranged between 280 .mu.m and 700 .mu.m Drag coefficients on closely spaced droplets were placed far below the standard drag coefficient, for which it was caused turbulence induced from aforelocating droplets also narrow spaces among droplets restricted heat transfer to droplets from hot gas flow. In addition evaporated vapor entrapted between droplets was major factor in delaying droplet vaporization. With the experimental results the drag coefficient was correlated with respect to Reynolds number for the droplet as follows : $c_{D}$ =2.4/Red.$^{0.37}$
In order for studying pressure-coupled dynamic responses of droplet vaporization, open-loop experiment of an isolated droplet vaporization exposed to pressure perturbations in stagnant gaseous environment is numerically conducted. Governing equations are solved for flow parameters at gas and liquid phases separately and thermodynamic parameters at the interfacial boundary are matched for problem closure. For high-pressure effects, vapor-liquid interfacial thermodynamics is rigorously treated. A series of parametric calculations in terms of mean pressure level and wave frequencies are carried out employing a n-pentane droplet in stagnant gaseous nitrogen. Results show that wave instability in view of pressure-coupled vaporization response seems more susceptible at higher pressures and higher wave frequencies. Mass evaporation rate responding to pressure waves is amplified with increase in pressure due to substantial reduction in latent heat of vaporization. Augmentation of perturbation frequency also enhances amplification due to the reduction of phase differences between pressure perturbation and surface temperature fluctuation.

ORVR filler neck check valve, which is one of the essential components of the vapor fuel control system, should diminish the evaporation by maintaining laminar fluid flow on refueling process. This study presents numerical. results of pressure and velocity distributions of the fluid flow in a ORVR filler neck check valve on refueling process. CFD-ACE+ has been employed for numerical analysis based on the information of experimental results of valve position as a function of inlet flow rate. No abrupt pressure change, which may causes vaporization of fuel, has been confirmed to take place on the concave surface of the valve spool. However, it is clear that some possibility exist at the mid-position of surface of valve spool and downstream according to the opening of valve.
This paper relates to reducing the temperature of a cryogenic liquid by contacting it with gas bubbles, which can be characterized by diffusion-driven evaporative cooling, The characteristic of diffusion-driven evaporative cooling is thoroughly examined by theoretical. analytical and experimental methods specifically for the case of helium injection into liquid oxygen. The results reveal that if the gaseous oxygen partial pressure in helium bubbles is lower than the liquid oxygen vapor pressure, cooling occurs autonomously due to diffusion mass transfer. The method of lowering the injected helium temperature turns out to be very effective for cooling purpose.
Thin fihn SnO$_{2}$ Gas Sensor was fabricated by electron-beam evaporation system and the target made by general firing method for the purpose of detecting gas components in air, especially methane gas. SnO$_{2}$ thin film was prepared on the polished alumina substrate which Pt interdigital electrode was precoated. The effects of annealing temperature and substrate temperature on the structural properties of SnO$_{2}$ thin film on glass were investigated using the X-ray diffraction. The good crystalline structure is formed when substrate temperature is 150[.deg. C] and annealing condition is 550[.deg. C], 1[hour]. And the sensing properties at various thickness of the SnO$_{2}$ thin film and the effects of PdCI$_{2}$ addition were also investigated. The good result is showed when the thickness is below 1000[.angs.] and the quantity of PdCI$_{2}$ addition is 4[wt%]. The thickness of SnO$_{2}$ thin film was measured by .alpha.-step and Elliopsometer.
Mg-doped ZnO one-dimensional (1D) nanostrutures were synthesized by using a thermal evaporation technique. The morphology, crystal structure, and sensing properties of the Mg-doped ZnO nanostructures functionalized with Pt to CO gas at $100^{\circ}C$ were examined. The diameters of the 1D nanostructures ranged from 80 to 120 nm and that the lengths were up to a few tens of micrometers. The gas sensors fabricated from multiple networked Mg-doped ZnO nanowires functionalized with Pt showed enhanced electrical response to CO gas. The responses of the nanowires were improved by approximately 70, 69, 111, and 81 times at CO concentrations of 10, 25, 50, and 100 ppm, respectively. Both the response and recovery times of the nanowire sensor for CO gas sensing were not nearly changed by Pt functionalization. It also appeared that the Mg doping concentration did not influence the sensing properties of ZnO nanowires as strongly as Pt-functionalization. In addition, the mechanism for the enhancement in the CO gas sensing properties of Mg-doped ZnO nanowires by Pt functionalization is discussed.
Polyethersulfone (PES) asymmetric membranes for gas separation were prepared by dry/wet phase inversion method and their separation properties for CO$_2$ and N$_2$ gases were investigated. The effects of important variables such as composition of casting solution and evaporation time in preparation of asymmetric gas membrane on membrane morphology and the separation properties were analyzed and the optimum condition of membrane preparation was established. To compensate the defects like pinholes existed on skin layer of the membrane prepared, the membranes were coated with silicone resin. By comparing separation properties after coating with those before coating, we found that the coating of silicone resin was effective to enhance the separation properties. The casting solution mainly used in this study consisted of PES, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, acetone, ethanol and distilled water was used as coagulation agent. It was shown that the selectivity for CO$_2$/N$_2$ was getting higher but the permeability decreases, as the contents of PES and volatile organic solvent and evaporation time increased. The selectivity for CO$_2$/N$_2$ and permeability of CO$_2$ of the membrane prepared under the optimum condition were found to be 61 and 21 GPU, respectively.

In this paper the experiments of insulation characteristics by temperature change of $SF_6$ gas and insulation characteristics about liquid $SF_6$ in GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear) were described. From this result, at low temperature, the breakdown voltage was increased with a drop of temperature and an increase of the inner pressure in GIS. The ability of insulation in liquid $SF_6$ was higher than that of the highly pressurized $SF_6$ gas. A liquid $SF_6$ discharge characteristics was caused by bubble formed evaporation of liquid $SF_6$ and bubble when high voltage apply to electrode. Corona was happened to weak bubble and was proceed to new bubble breakdown.

In this paper the experiments of insulation characteristics by temperature change of $SF_6$ gas and liquid $SF_6$ in model GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear) were described. From this results, the breakdown voltage was increased with a drop of temperature and an increase of the inner pressure in model GIS. The ability of insulation in liquid $SF_6$ was higher than that of the highly pressurized $SF_6$ gas. A liquid $SF_6$ discharge characteristics was caused by bubble formed evaporation of liquid $SF_6$ and bubble caused by high electric emission. It is considered that these result are fundamental data for electric insulation design of superconductor and cryogenic application machinery which will be studied and developed in the future.
Exposed on the sea, the oils are affected by the combined effects of evaporation, solution, chemical oxidation, and biological decomposition. Therefore the samples were taken after artificial weathering, and they were analyzed by gas chromatography for sulfur and hydrocarbons. The measurement results of gas chromatography have shown characteristic patterns. The peaks of the lower hydrocarbons in pollutant oil decreased with time. But the chromatograms for sulfur compound analysed by FPD showed little changes with lapse of time. The hydrocarbon and sulfur compound analysis by gas chromatography can be effectively used for analyzing oils for comparative identification.
