Affordance is a kind of mental physiology, used by psychologist Donald A. Norman as a design idea, defined as "the property that something can directly and essentially provide something to a person or animal". This idea of returning to the essence and providing properties intuitively has a new guiding effect on product design. The purpose of this thesis is to take the theory of affordance as the basis of design concept, and redesign the shape of desktop lamps in small home appliances, so as to optimize the product shape. A product styling design method based on the concept of affordance is established through four major classifications of affordance, and a styling design scheme is completed using a tabletop luminaire in small home appliances as an example, and then a product styling design evaluation system is used to evaluate the new tabletop luminaire styling design scheme and the existing styling, and the evaluation results are analyzed. Finally, it is concluded that a new product styling design method based on affordance is constructed, and the feasibility and effectiveness of this method are verified, which provides ideas and theoretical basis for product styling design.
Purpose - Multi-dimensional prices comprise multiple components such as monthly payments and a number of payments rather than a single lump-sum amount. According to previous studies, an increase in the number of price dimensions leads to a massive amount of cognitive stress resulting in incorrect calculation, and deterioration in the consistency of the price judgment. However, an increase only in the level of complexity of calculating multi-dimensional prices does not always result in a corresponding decrease in the accuracy of price evaluation. Since diverse variables could affect consumers' purchase-decision-making process, the results of price evaluation would be different. In this study, an empirical analysis was performed to determine how the accuracy of price evaluation varies depending on the extent of the complexity of price dimensions using product involvement and brand preference as moderating variables. Research design, data, and methodology - A survey was conducted on 260 students, and 252 effective responses were used for analysis. The data was analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, and two-way ANOVA. In this study, six hypotheses were developed to examine the effect of product involvement and brand preference on consumers' evaluation effort of multi-dimensional prices. Results - As the number of price dimensions increased, accuracy of price evaluation appeared to be low in high involvement, as expected. However, it showed no differences in price evaluation effort when the level of complexity of calculating multi-dimensional prices is low. When a small number of price dimensions are presented in both cases of high and low involvement, accuracy of price evaluation is much higher in a weak brand preference. On the contrary, a strong brand preference enhances an accuracy of price evaluation only in case of low involvement when the number of price dimensions is increased. An interaction effect of product involvement and brand preference on consumers' evaluation of multi-dimensional prices did not exist irrespective of the level of complexity of calculating prices being high or low. Conclusions - When the number of price dimensions is small, consumers' effort for price evaluation shows almost no difference without the moderating effect of involvement, and a weak brand preference leads to a higher accuracy of price evaluation in an effort to make the best selection. No interaction effect of product involvement and brand preference was found except for a main effect of brand preference. When a price is composed of multiple dimensions rendering it more difficult to calculate the final price, the effort for price evaluation was expected to decrease only slightly in case of combination of high involvement and strong brand preference. This is because people have a higher purchase intentions and trust for that particular brand. However, the accuracy of price evaluation was much lower in cases of high involvement, and there was no interaction effect between product involvement and brand preference except for a main effect of involvement and brand preference, respectively.
Consumer Innovativeness is the level of acceptance tendency of new thinking, new product, and service without any communication with other people or experience. Product Innovativeness can be defined with the terms, newness, discontinuous, and radicalness of a product. The purpose of this research is finding if there are relationship between consumer innovativeness, consumers' product innovativeness evaluation, and attitude toward a product. The subjects were 338 male and female consumers aged from 18 to years old. The data were analyzed by regression analysis, t-test, Pearson correlation analysis, ANOVA. In conclusion, consumer's fashion innovativenes had important effects on smart clothing innovativeness evaluation, but consumer's technology innovativeness had no effect on it.
The goal of this article is to ascertain the factors that govern consumers' choosing to outbound travel product. The authors assess the consumers' travel product choosing processes with information search(internal knowledge, external information knowledge). alternative evaluation(perceived image, emotional experience, price acceptability, appeal, trust), and alternative choice(purchasing intention). Using data on Thailand travel product, the authors find considerable results and conclude by discussing prescriptive recommendations for the travel industry.
In the context of the convergence revolution that brings together culture, technology, and humanities, the fashion industry is aiming to form product strategies to create added value. The ultimate aim of these strategies is to satisfy consumers' diverse needs. Boosted by discussions on sustainability in the fashion industry, sustainability management activities are also emerging as a trend in product strategy. Therefore, it is important to consider both convergence and sustainability management activities together as drivers of fashion brands' product strategies. The main objectives of this study are as follows: (1) to examine the differences in sustainability evaluation by product strategy, (2) to determine how sustainability evaluation affects brand attitude and purchase intention, and (3) to identify how this effect varies according to the types of convergence and sustainability management activities. The main findings of this research are as follows. First, sustainability evaluation varies according to fashion brands' product strategy. Second, evaluation has a positive effect on brand attitude and purchase intention. Third, the effect varies according to the types of convergence and sustainability management activities. This study is an extension of previous research for combining fashion brands' convergence and sustainability management activities as a part of their product strategy, which, in turn, contributes to positive consumer responses on the marketing level. Moreover, results provide practical implications for fashion brands that enable them to establish efficient marketing strategies regarding to convergence and sustainability management activities.
Most companies are achieving economic benefits by producing products in the form of bi-national products, but there are also negative consequences such as reduced brand power, so strategic bi-national product planning and branding is essential. In order to actively reflect these practical needs, this study conducted a comprehensive and easy-to-generalize evaluation of Bi-national products that has been somewhat underdeveloped in previous studies. To this end, the selection and evaluation criteria of the products to be investigated were differentiated. This is to classify the products by place of use and the purpose of use so that the majority of bi-national products can be included, and then use the combination to derive the specific products to be evaluated for bi-national products. The evaluation of the product identified the phenomenon of psychological conflict among consumers due to the country of origin discrepancy at the level of decreasing brand authenticity. The above research design is an evaluation method that can encompass bi-national products as a whole, rather than an evaluation of a specific product or product line that is mainly reported in previous studies, and it is also very easy to apply to practice because it allows us to more carefully identify changes in psychological attitudes.

The strength of the PB(Private Brand) is that it can eliminate intermediary in the distribution channel and thoroughly control the quality under its own name. This study has developed traditional studies on private brand proneness in approaching data processing and empirical point of view of a consumer's attitude buildup process on PB through 'recognition-attitude-action(behavioral attitude)'. The subjects of this study are consumers in their $20s{\sim}40s$ who are main customer groups of PBs. A screening process has taken place to select consumers with purchasing experiences of retailor PBs. The data is analyzed by 'Structural Equation Modeling' of Amos 5.0 to verify consumer attitude formation model on private apparel brand. The results generated from this study are as follows: First, the proposed consumer attitude model on private apparel brand consists of store evaluation, experiential product evaluation, cognitive product evaluation, hedonic attitude, utilitarian attitude and purchase intention. Second, not only positively influence on utilitarian attitude but hedonic attitude can arouse positive emotional reaction of a consumer. Third, the store evaluation is ahead of the product evaluation because PB is more related to the image of a store. The influence of the store on PB is relatively stronger when compared with NB.
In the world, the old population is growing fast and many countries went into an advanced age society. Therefore the development of everyday products, electric appliances, and welfare services considering old people is more important than ever. In particular, the complexity of products can cause many problems for old people. Universal design is an approach to create environments and products that recognizes the diversity of users, regardless of their ability or age. Universality evaluation for a product is very important to verify old people's accessibility and usability for the product. Universality means how good a product was designed in view of universal design principles. In this study, UNIX, a method to evaluate the universality of a product was developed. UNIX was based on seven universal design principles; equitable use, flexibility in use, simple and intuitive, perceptible information, tolerance for error, low physical effort, size and space for approach and use. UNIX is a kind of expert evaluation and very simple method. The method is consisted of two steps. In the first step, relative weights for seven principles and subjective ratings on design suitability for each principle are obtained. In the second step, universality index (UNIX) of each product is obtained by weighted average multiplying relative weights and rating scores. As a case study, this method was applied for mouse designs. In conclusion, this method could be effectively applied to evaluate the universality of a product.

The main purpose of this study was to determine the influence of brand and country-of-origin on consumers' perception of apparel products. $2\times2$ between subjects factorial design with brand (no brand vs. prestigious brand) and country-of-origin (Italy vs. Korea) was used. Consumer ethnocentrism and product involvement were included as covariates in analyzing the data. The stimuus was a double-breasted v-neckline beige jacket. All the labels were removed and a label indicating one of the four brand/country-of-origin conditions was attached. The participants' perception of the jacket was measured in terms of product attitude, product evaluation, purchase intention and expected price. A total of 205 housewives participated in the field experiments conducted in front of four moi or department stores in Seoul, and 202 responses were used in the final analysis. There was no significant difference in product attitude, product evaluation and purchase intention according to brand or country-of-origin. But brand, country-of-origin and the interaction between the variables were significant in explaining the differences in expected price. Consumer ethnocentrism was significant in all the models, while product involvement was significant only in the case of product evaluation. The relationships among demographic variables, consumer ethnocentrism and product involvement were also examined.
Purpose - Recently, many theoretical researches suggested that arts-based marketing strategies provide many benefits for marketers to differentiate their brand or product from others. However, there has been little research focusing on consumers' response types from artwork (artifact-emotion appraisal; A-emotion vs. represented world-emotion appraisal; R-emotion). In order to deepen our understanding of arts-based marketing strategies, we addressed a research question related to how artwork-provoked consumers' emotional response can impact the perceived evaluation of art infused products. Research design, data, and methodology - To answer the research question, we conducted a pretest and one experimental study. The experimental study was 2(art-provoked response type: A-emotion vs. R-emotion) by 2(emotional valence: positive vs. negative) by 2(produce type: hedonic vs. utilitarian) mixed design. The art-provoked response type and emotional valence were between-subject design and product type was within subject design. For the experimental study, 108 undergraduate students and graduate students were randomly assigned to one of 4 conditions (A-emotion-positive, A-emotion-negative, R-emotion-positive, R-emotion-negative). Participants reported their evaluation of art-infused product and other items for a manipulation check. Results - The major results from the experimental study are as follow. First, participant's art-provoked response type influenced evaluation of art infused products differently. More specifically, the effect of emotional valence of artwork on product evaluation was not significant in A-emotion. However, in R-emotion, relative to the product with artwork provoked negative emotional valence, the product with artwork provoked positive emotional valence elicited significantly higher product evaluation. Second, product type also affected the art infusion effect significantly. Particularly, the differential effect of participant's art-provoked response type on product evaluation revealed when it is for a utilitarian product, but not for a hedonic product. Conclusions - Theoretically, the findings of this study expand academic research on art infusion. And the findings also can be extrapolated to generate lots of implication for marketers. In sum, when they plan art marketing strategies to build the favorable relationship with their customers, they need to consider customers' response type of an infused art and product type.
