  • This paper presents an efficient location estimation methodology for a partial discharge(PD) source in the power transformer. The methodology previously proposed is not suitable for locating a PD source because the ultrasonic signal with medium attenuated through the inner structure. In general, the propagation characteristic of ultrasonic signal with medium is different. Therefore, using this propagation characteristic, we can detect the location of PD source. In this paper, the proposal algorithm finds the PD source using three sensors attached to one side of the transformer without attenuation of the ultrasonic signal and applying the neural network based geometrical method. The proposed methodology demonstrates the effectiveness and validity on an experimental transformer.

  • In this paper, an estimation methodology for stand-by energy savings of electric appliances is proposed and some case studies are carried out for televisions. The methodology is based on learning curves and diffusion models, which are able to explain the market characteristics such as market prices and the diffusion speed. Some models were developed to estimate power and energy savings for high-efficient appliances and these model have been used broadly. These models are also applied to this study and modified to estimate stand-by energy savings.

Constrained 베이즈 추정방식의 제품 품질관리 활용방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Application of Constrained Bayes Estimation for Product Quality Control)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to apply the constrained Bayesian estimation methodology for product quality control process and prove the effectiveness of the product management by comparing with the well-known Bayes estimator through data performance result. Methods: The Bayes and constrained Bayes estimators were produced based on the theoretical background and for confirming the effectiveness of suggested application, the deviation index was defined and calculated for the comparison. Results: The statistical analysis result shows that applying the suggested estimation methodology, that is, constrained Bayes estimator improves the effectiveness of the index with regard to reduce the error by matching the first two empirical moments. Conclusion: Considering the advanced Bayesian approaches such as constrained Bayes estimation for the product quality control process, the newly defined deviation index reduces the error for estimating the parameter histogram which is reflected both location and deviation parameters and furthermore various Bayesian perspective approaches seems to be meaningful for managing the product quality control process.

The ensemble approach in comparison with the diverse feature selection techniques for estimating NPPs parameters using the different learning algorithms of the feed-forward neural network

  • Several reasons such as no free lunch theorem indicate that there is not a universal Feature selection (FS) technique that outperforms other ones. Moreover, some approaches such as using synthetic dataset, in presence of large number of FS techniques, are very tedious and time consuming task. In this study to tackle the issue of dependency of estimation accuracy on the selected FS technique, a methodology based on the heterogeneous ensemble is proposed. The performance of the major learning algorithms of neural network (i.e. the FFNN-BR, the FFNN-LM) in combination with the diverse FS techniques (i.e. the NCA, the F-test, the Kendall's tau, the Pearson, the Spearman, and the Relief) and different combination techniques of the heterogeneous ensemble (i.e. the Min, the Median, the Arithmetic mean, and the Geometric mean) are considered. The target parameters/transients of Bushehr nuclear power plant (BNPP) are examined as the case study. The results show that the Min combination technique gives the more accurate estimation. Therefore, if the number of FS techniques is m and the number of learning algorithms is n, by the heterogeneous ensemble, the search space for acceptable estimation of the target parameters may be reduced from n × m to n × 1. The proposed methodology gives a simple and practical approach for more reliable and more accurate estimation of the target parameters compared to the methods such as the use of synthetic dataset or trial and error methods.

크랭크스로 단조강의 피로수명의 확률분포 추정 (Estimation of Probability Distribution of Fatigue Lives in Crank Throw Forged Steel)

  • Because of the severe service environment of the large marine vessel, the fatigue strength and its evaluation play an important role in design and maintenance of marine crankshaft. The aim of this work is to investigate the probability distribution of fatigue lives in crank throw forged steel and to develop the methodology for estimation of the probabilistic design fatigue strength. Detailed studies were performed on the constant amplitude axial loading fatigue test. The experiments were controlled by stress ratio of -1 and 15Hz frequency for each stress level. The considerable variability of fatigue life was observed in each stress level under rigidly controlled constant fatigue testing conditions. The fatigue life of crank throw forged steel was well followed the log-normal and Weibull distribution. In addition, it can be used for the estimation of probabilistic design fatigue strength by using the proposed methodology.

Hazus-MH 방법을 이용한 대구시 교량의 시나리오 지진에 의한 피해 예측 (Scenario-Based Earthquake Damage Estimation of Bridge Structures in Daegu City Using Hazus-MH Methodology)

  • The paper presents the damage estimation of bridge structures in Daegu city based on the scenario-based earthquakes. Since the fragility curves for domestic bridge strucures are limited, the Hazus methodology is employed to derive the fragility curves and estimate the damage. A total of four earthuquake scenarios near Daegu city are assumed and structure damage is investigated for 81 bridge structures. The seismic fragility function and damage level of each bridge had adopted from the analytical method in HAZUS and then, the damage probability using seismic fragility function for each bridge was evaluated. It was concluded that the seismic damage to bridges was higher when the magnitude of the earthquake was large or nearer to the epicenter.

  • In many application of response surface methodology, good estimation of the derivatives of the response function may be as important or perhaps more important than estimation of mean response. Using a graphical method, we have studied the effect of outliers, missing observations, and design augmentation with respect to the slope estimation in the response surf ace designs.

  • An estimation methodology, based on statistics and numerical method, has been developed for estimating the upper explosive limits(UEL) of paraffinic and olefinic hydrocarbon compounds. With proposed method, the UEL has been calculated for 24 paraffinic and 10 olefinic hydrocarbon compounds. The estimated the UEL agree with the experimental values within a few percent. A comparisond with four other methods avaiable in the literature are also presented. It is hoped eventually that this method will permit estimation of the UEL with improved accuracy and broader application for other compounds.

  • 도로부문의 온실가스배출량 산정시 활용되는 tier3방법론은 주행거리데이터를 기반으로 한다. 하지만 기존 대부분의 자료들은 단독으로 지역단위의 주행거리를 대변할 수 없고 지역별, 차종별, 연료별, 도로유형별 특성을 반영한 통합활동자료(주행거리데이터)가 미흡하여 온실가스배출량 산정의 신뢰도가 부족하다. 따라서 본 연구는 첫째, 지자체단위(배출지점)의 정확한 온실가스배출량을 산정할 수 있는 주행거리기반의 활동자료(통합데이터베이스) 구축과 이를 활용한 온실가스배출량 산정방법론을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 교통안전공단의 주행거리자료, 국토해양부의 차량등록통계, 도로교통량, 한국교통연구원의 국가교통데이터베이스, 지방자치단체 평균속도 등을 활용하였으며, 이는 교통관련 데이터의 통행패턴(유 출입교통량, 내부교통량)을 반영하여 지자체단위(배출지점)의 산정방법을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 둘째, 본 연구에서 제시한 방법론 검증을 위해 적용대상지를 서울시로 하였으며, 본 연구에서 제시한 모형의 검증을 위하여 기존에 발표된 세 가지 온실가스배출량 산정결과와 비교하여 적정수준임을 제시하였다.
