A new seismic design methodology was proposed for precast concrete diaphragms. This methodology adopts seismic design factors applied on top of current diaphragm design forces. These factors are aimed to produce diaphragm design strengths aligned with different seismic performance targets. These factors were established through extensive parametric studies. These studies used a simple evaluation structure with a single-bay rectangular diaphragm. The simple evaluation structure is suitable for establishment of the design factors over comprehensive structural geometry and design parameters. However, the application of the design factors to prototype structures with realistic layouts requires further verification and investigation. This paper presents diaphragm design of several precast concrete parking structures using the new design methodology and verification of the design factor through nonlinear dynamic time history analyses. The seismic behavior and performance of the diaphragm were investigated for the precast concrete parking structures. It was found that the design factor established for the new design methodology is applicable to the realistic precast concrete parking structures.

This simplified evaluation structure is reasonable and cost-effective as it can comprehensively cover structural geometries and design parameters. However, further verification and investigation are required to apply these design factors to prototype structures with realistic layouts. This paper presents diaphragm design of several precast concrete office buildings using the new design methodology. The applicability of the design factor to the office building was evaluated and verified through nonlinear time history analyses. The seismic behavior and performance of the diaphragm were investigated for the precast concrete office buildings. It was found that the design factor established for the new design methodology is applicable to the realistic precast concrete office buildings.

In this study we examine Taiwan's overall performance in accordance with sustainable construction by developing an appraisal indicator framework. The framework consists of five layers, from bottom to top: the indicator; the indicator category; the core cluster; the theme; and the overall performance. The procedure for the development of a sustainable construction indicator system is outlined. Finally, a framework consists of 3 themes, 10 core clusters, and 33 indicator categories are established. Following the established framework, 67 proper indicators are selected for each category in the framework, and data of the 53 indicators are collected respectively from a nation's statistical databank in Taiwan. Sustainable construction index aggregated step-by-step from the indicators, the indicator categories, the core clusters and the themes is computed to assess Taiwan's progress in sustainable construction. The preliminary results and the discussion are reported.

This paper presents a new operation method on power distribution system by automated distribution system (ADS). A performance of this automation is established to operate the distribution system faster than earlier. We reduced the period and region of power failure by ADS.

In the study, simulation result was studied by connecting PID controller in series to the established Neural Networks Controller. Neural Network model is composed of two layers to evaluate tracking performance improvement. The reqular dynamic characteristics was also studied for the expected error to be minimized by using Widrow-Hoff delta rule. As a result of the study, We identified that tracking performance inprovement was developed more in case of connecting PID than Neural Network Contoller and that tracking plant parameter in 251 sample was approached rapidly case of time variable.

The reliability of power transmission lines depends on long-term performance of the suspension insulators used on the lines. The importance of such long-term performance of the insulators has been recently noted, but its evaluation method has not been established yet. In this paper, various causes of insulator deterioration are verified and laboratory test method for evaluating the long term performance of insulators are studied.

The main objectives of this paper are as follows: 1) identifying th procedural characteristics of application software package acquisition and, 2) analyzing the relationship between those characteristics and MIS performance. Three stages and thirty core tasks of the application software package acquisition process were identified after reviewing relevant literature. The model specifying the relationship between procedural characteristics of application software package acquisition and MIS performance was established and 12 hypotheses were derived. Data were collected form 41 Korean companies and hypotheses were tested empirically.

E-tade has the potential to accelerate existing trends and introduce new ways of conducting traditional trade. The primary purpose of this research is to investigate performance factor and analyzes influence between performance of e-Trade and implementation of company. This research will be used as a basis for examining the actual results of e-Trade usage and export productivity. In order to facilitate the process, analysis began after a research prototype was created and research thesis established.

This study aims at the optimal design of the screw rotor, its performance analysis, and development of a small screw supercharger which has a low noise compared with the root type supercharger. The basic theoretical equations and the basic design of the screw supercharger have been established. The optical design of the screw rotor's shape has been also performed theoretically. Also, the performance analysis technique of the designed screw rotor has been developed.
