Overseas countries' government and facility management industries make efforts to ensure precise and fluent data from building information modeling (BIM). In facility management, a large amount of data and information are necessary to continue the process activities. Facility condition assessment, which is performed to make budget plan for the maintenance and operation requires the related facilities' documentation and information. However, it depends on the owner and the user of the facility to provide accurate and complete information to consultant. The problems as follows: (1) owner and user should provide documents and information, and (2) the consultant cannot verify the provided information. To solve these problems, we suggest a methodology to produce the information for FCA through BIM. First, all of the essential documentation and assessment elements are listed. Next, the documents and elements are separated out, whether they are able to be extracted from BIM or not. Then, the list indicates only the data that is linked with BIM. The suggestion is expected to provide the required information through the connection to BIM with accuracy and completeness and to present another BIM application use for facility management.
On account of the technological development, intelligent building is on increasing where the artificial regulation on indoor environment is possible, thence the concern about those facilities such as water-supply facility, water-heater and drainage facility has becomes higher. However, due to diversification and complicated system of the facility-equipments, the noise generating from such facility equipment is gradually becoming a problem, and since especially equipment noises arising at the machine room frequently infringe into the resident's pleasant living environment with the complex types of an air-borne sound and a structure-borne sound, it is becoming the civil complaint. On such viewpoint, this Study ever observed the characteristics of noise generating from various facility-equipments in the building, and intended to evaluate the facility-noises by use of the valuation index such as PSIL, N, NC, NR. As result of, the facilities noise which happens in the machine room makes normal conversation very difficult due to high sound pressure level. Based on such data, this study is willing to present it as an essential material for establishment an efficient measure against the facility-noises arising at machine room hereafter.
The purpose of this study is to describe the planning and applied safety facility layout for a technology laboratory in a middle school. A technological teaching facility has its essential purpose in meeting students' needs and achieving educational objectives efficiently and effectively. Practice-related appliances were selected through investigation of the current middle school laboratory, and analysis of the technology textbooks of the 7th curriculum. Laboratory layout was achieved with consideration of the teacher's and students need of safety and close proximity to laboratory facilities and equipment. Our recommendation takes the SLP survey results into consideration. The results of this study are as follows: The following floor plan is recommended. The facility layout will insure that students are able to work safely, in full view of academic instructors. Students will have easy access to all equipment due to the efficient floor plan and logical sequencing of equipment.
Environmental control facilities are used to simulate an environment or combination of environments under which many kinds of research and tests can be performed. The design of the control system to maintain desired environmental conditions is essential to proper operation of the facility. A simulation model of the facility has been developed by analyzing each component of the system thermodynamically with necessary properties and heat transfer relations. Using the system simulation model, the required characteristics of the control system has been investigated. PI controller is considered as the most probable controller for this kind of the facility, and electric heater power is shown as the Proper manipulated variable for temperature control.

In the irrigation facilities, the irrigation system is connected systematically, and thus, it agrees to the object-oriented concept. Since it is necessary to go through comparative evaluations and to devise several alternatives plans in designing the irrigation system, it will be very efficient to use the objects that contain the design data. In this study, the object-oriented methodology has been proposed to define the objects, which will be used in the design system of irrigation facility. Furthermore, as for the essential elements of the objects, concept of element objects is formulated. By employing this concept, appropriate element objects have been derided for the irrigation facility. Necessary data model for realization of the objects is examined and selected. And then, required elements for applying the selected data model to the irrigation facility will be proposed
Purpose: This study is to present basic data and standards for calculating the space composition and area required when planning a neonatal intensive care unit. Methods: Review domestic and foreign facility standards and regulations related to the current neonatal intensive care unit, select a regional neonatal intensive care center designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare as a case hospital, and organize a space program for the construction plan of the neonatal intensive care unit through analysis of characteristics such as facility size and function composition. Results and Implications: The size, facility area, and detailed room composition characteristics of the neonatal intensive care unit in Korea were confirmed, and essential rooms and appropriate areas were derived when planning the construction of the neonatal intensive care unit. Korea's legal facility standards related to neonatal intensive care units are lower than the actual hospital status and overseas standards, and the facility standards of the medical law need to be improved.
In this study, based on SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure) for HACCP in Food Sanitation Act, essential facility, equipment and documentary records for HACCP implementation were identified. Usage and adoption of these devices at Korea Food & Drug Administration appointed HACCP foodservices ("Appointed"), voluntary HACCP applying foodservices ("Voluntary applying") and HACCP non-applying foodservices ("Non-applying") have been compared. Total 46 contract foodservices were surveyed: 13 "Appointed" (65% of nation-wide all appointed food services in February, 2002),17 "Voluntary applying" and 16 "Non-applying". For usage and adoption of facility and equipment, 18 out of total 27 surveying items showed significant differences at the three foodservice groups (p<0.01 or p<0.05). Specifically, following items showed lower usage than 70% in the "Appointed": ′A trench including grease trap′, ′3-compartment sink with hot water′. Regarding CCP monitoring tool installation, 8 out of total 9 items showed significant differences among the groups (p<0.01 or p<0.05). For the usage of 10 documentary recording items for HACCP application log, 7 items showed significant differences among the groups (p<0.01 or p<0.05). Resultantly, most of those essential facilities, equipment and documentary records ;were used only in the "Appointed". The limited usages of those were showed for the "Voluntary applying" where the dietitian answered they applied HACCP voluntarily. The "Non-applying" didn′t have many surveyed items.

The new paradigm called 'Low Carbon Green Growth' involved in reducing greenhouse gas is on the rise as a critical issue worldwide. The essential of Kyoto protocol issued in 1997 is to achieve the sustainable economic growth environments by converting existing production system to eco-friendly one. The protocol imposes the liability to reduce greenhouse gas to the countries joined to it. The paradigm is directly involved in the energy consumption and environmental pollution caused by construction activities. Value Engineering which are mainly applied in the design phase in practice is a measure to improve the value of a constructed facility by analyzing and/or appraising the functions and costs of it. However, an appropriate method which assesses eco-friendliness of constructed facility has not been propose by researchers. This paper proposes a method which assesses the performance involved in eco-friendliness of constructed facility using Value Engineering (VE) in the design phase. The method estimates the environmental cost relative to the amounts of energy consumption and environmental pollution occurred over the entire project life cycle. The database called "Life Cycle Inventory DB", which stores information about the amounts of environmental pollution, is used. The algorithm which retrieves the amounts of environmental pollutions from the DB and converts them into environmental costs is developed. The algorithm is implemented into a system which quantifies the eco-friendliness of constructed facility in the design phase using VE.
