  • This paper proposes a new method achieving computationally efficient attitude reference system for low cost strapdown sensors and microprocessor platform. The main idea in this method is to define and compare velocity differential vectors, geometrically computed from INS and GPS data with different update rate, for generating attitude error measurements which is further used for filter construction. A quaternion based Kalman filter configuration is applied for the attitude estimation with the adapted measurement model of differential vector comparison. Linearized model for Extended Kalman Filter and low pass filtered characteristics of measurement greatly extend the affordability of the proposed algorithm to the field of simple low cost embedded systems. For performance verification, experiment are done employing a practical low cost MEMS IMU and GPS receiver specification. Performance comparison with a high grade navigation system demonstrated good estimation result.

  • Digital watermarking techniques are attracting attention as a proper solution to protect copyright for multimedia data. This paper proposes a new audio watermarking method based on Discrete Cosine Transformation (DCT) and Discrete Wavelet Transformation (DWT) for copyright protection. In our proposed watermarking method, the original audio is transformed into DCT domain and divided into two parts. Synchronization code is applied on the signal in first part and 2 levels DWT domain is applied on the signal in second part. The absolute value of DWT coefficient is divided into arbitrary number of segments and calculates the energy of each segment and middle peak. Watermarks are then embedded into each middle peak. Watermarks are extracted by performing the inverse operation of watermark embedding process. Experimental results show that the hidden watermark data is robust to re-sampling, low-pass filtering, re-quantization, MP3 compression, cropping, echo addition, delay, and pitch shifting, amplitude change. Performance analysis of the proposed scheme shows low error probability rates.

  • In this paper, a new image watermarking algorithm is proposed which can hide specific information of an ID card's owner in photo image for preventing ID's photo forgery. Proposed algorithm uses the image segmentation and the correlation peak position modulation of spread spectrum. The watermark embedded in photo ensures not only robustness against printing and scanning but also sufficient information capacity hiding unique number such as social security numbers in small-sized photo. Another advantage of proposed method is extracting accurate information with error tolerance within some rotation range by using $2^h{\times}2^w$ unit sample space not instead $1{\times}1$ pixels for insertion and extraction of information. 40 bits information can be embedded and extracted at $256{\times}256$ sized ID photo with BER value of 0 % when the test condition is 300dpi scanner and photo printer with 22 photos. In conclusion, proposed algorithm shows the robustness for noise and rotational errors occured during printing and scanning.

  • Most watermarking schemes for video contents protection have been studied to increase watermark's robustness and invisibility against such compressions and many kinds of signal processing after embedding copyright information to the original contents. This paper proposes an active watermarking that infect watermark to contents in the video decoding process using embedded infectious watermark and control signals from a video encoder side. To achieve this algorithm, we design a kernel based watermarking in video encoder side that is possible to recover the original contents and watermark in watermark detection procedure perfectly. And then, by reversible de-watermarking in video decoder side, we design the active watermark infection method using detected watermark and control signal. This means that our system can provide secure re-distributions of video contents without any quality degration and watermark bit error against transcoding or re-encoding processing. By experimental results, we confirmed that the embedded watermark was infected by video contents and codec perfectly without any declines of compression ratio and video quality.

  • In general, a drilled shaft embedded in weathered rock has a large load bearing capacity. Therefore, most of the load tests are performed only up to the load level that confirms the pile design load capacity, and stopped much before the failure load of the pile is attained. If a reliable failure load value can be extracted from the premature load test data, it will be possible to greatly improve economic efficiency as well as pile design quality. The main purpose of this study is to propose a standard for judging the reliability of the failure load of piles that is obtained from extrapolated load test data. To this aim, eleven static load test data of load-displacement curves were obtained from testing of piles to their failures from 3 different field sites. For each load-displacement curve, loading was assumed as 25%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, and 90% of the actual pile bearing capacity. The limited known data were then extrapolated using the hyperbolic function, and the failure load was re-determined for each extrapolated data by the ASCE 20-96 method (1997). Statistical analysis was performed on the reliability of the re-evaluated failure loads. The results showed that if the ratio of the maximum-available displacement to the failure-load displacement exceeds 0.6, the extrapolated failure load may be regarded as reliable, having less than a conservative 20% error on average. The applicability of the proposed standard of judgment was also verified with static load test data of driven piles.

The limited known data were then extrapolated using the hyperbolic function, and the ultimate capacity was re-determined for each extrapolated data by the Davisson method (1972). Statistical analysis was performed on the reliability of the re-evaluated ultimate loads. • In this paper, we studied the rotation angle estimation methods required for image alignment in an image recognition environment. In particular, a rotation angle estimation method applicable to a low specification embedded-based environment was proposed and compared with the existing method using complex moment. The proposed method estimates the rotation angle through similarity mathcing of the 1D projection profile along the radial axis after converting an image into polar coordinates. In addition, it is also possible to select a method of using vector sum of the projection profile, which more simplifies the calculation. Through experiments conducted on binary pattern images and gray-scale images, it was shown that the estimation error of the proposed method is not significantly different from that of complex moment-based method and requires less computation and system resources. For future expansion, a study on how to match the rotation center in gray-scale images will be needed.

  • This paper proposes a characterization method based on the reference memory to characterize memory compiler quickly and accurately. In order to maintain the accuracy of the memory complier and to minimize characterization time, the proposed method models the trends of the generated memories by selecting the reference memories after analyzing the timing trends of the memory compiler. To validate the proposed method, we characterized the 110nm memory compiler derived from 130nm memroy compiler. The average error rate of the characteristics of the memories generated by the proposed method and SPICE simulation is lower than ${\pm}0.1%$. Furthermore, we designed memory BIST test chips at 110nm and 180nm processes and the results of the function test show that the yield is 98.8% and 98.3%, respectively. Therefore, the proposed method is useful to characterize the memory compiler.

  • This paper describes the numerical analysis techniques using the Combined Integration/Matrix Method to calculate ground potential rise which can be occurred in the various grounding systems. Combined Integration/Matrix Method is used to reduce the error and computation time with the analytical integration equation and the proper segmentaion of earth embedded conductor. To do it, optimal segmentaion method for the buried conductors is presented through error analysis which is capable of applying the practical scaled various grounding systems. The optimum length of segmented element is much co-related with the buried depth of grounding electrode and the maximum length of buried electrode. As a result, less 3 precent errors was obtained by proposed model. The proposed model is applied to verify an effect of multi-grounding problems which was aroused much controversy with separated or common grounding between the high power grounding system and low power grounding system such as signal and telecommunication grounding.

  • We are required to adequately adjust the distributed contents to each device and users' demands on the network and to obtain authentication of ownership for our information to prevent the illegal usage of our digital information by non-owners. In this paper, we propose scalable digital watermarking of contents within a compression domain based on Orthogonal Forward Wavelet Transforms, and the proposed method focuses on robust watermark algorithms that are not visually recognizable to embedded ownership information. Therefore, it proposes a watermark insertion methods based on spread spectrum techniques and Provides a watermark key. As a result, it not only extracted the contained watermark from the intentionally altered images, but also secured the watermark information extraction from partial images and ensure the decrease of BER (Bit Error Rate) in the images containing watermarks even when more watermark inserted images are transmitted.
