  • In this paper, we propose a new RLWE-based scheme named μ-Hope that exploits Error Correcting Code(ECC) on NewHope. The previous parameters of NewHope uses 12289 as a prime modulus, and the size of the public key, private key, and ciphertext is 928-byte, 1888-byte, and 1120-byte respectively, which can be said to be larger than other RLWE based algorithms. In this paper, we propose μ-Hope, which changes modulus 12289 to 769 to reduce the size of the public key, private key, and ciphertext. Also, we adopts XE1 as an Error Correcting Code(ECC) to solve the increased decryption failure rate caused by using a small prime modulus. As a result, the size of the public key, private key, and ciphertext decreased by 38%, 37%, and 37% respectively. As the computational efficiency caused by using a small prime modulus exceeds the performance degradation by exploiting ECC, this result in 25% performance improvement for a single key exchange.

  • Holographic data storage (HDS) has a number of advantages, including a high transmission rate through the use of a charge coupled device array for reading two-dimensional (2D) pixel image data, and a high density capacity. HDS also has disadvantages, including 2d intersymbol interference by neighboring pixels and interpage interference by multiple pages stored in the same holographic volume. These problems can be eliminated by modulation codes. We propose a 7/9 error-correcting modulation code that exploits a Viterbi-trellis algorithm and has a code rate larger (about 0.778) than that of the conventional 6/8 balanced modulation code. We show improved performance of the bit error rate with the proposed scheme compared to that of the simple 7/9 code without the trellis scheme and the 6/8 balanced modulation code.

  • In holographic data storage (HDS), a high transmission rate is accomplished through the use of a charge coupled device array for reading two-dimensional (2D) pixel image data. Although HDS has many advantages in terms of storage capacity and data transmission rates, it also features problems, such as 2D intersymbol interference (ISI) by neighboring pixels and interpage interference (IPI) by multiple images stored in the same holographic volume. Modulation codes can be used to remove these problems. We introduce a 2D 8/9 error-correcting modulation code. The proposed modulation code exploits the trellis-coded modulation scheme, and the code rate is larger (about 0.889) than that of the conventional 6/8 balanced modulation code (an increase of approximately 13.9%). The performance of the bit error rate (BER) with the proposed scheme was improved compared with that of the 6/8 balanced modulation code and the simple 8/9 code without the trellis scheme.

  • In this paper, we present encoders and decoders with the two kinds of ternary Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem(BCH) codes in the most basic ternary code system from among multiple-valued code systems. One is the random-triple-error-correcting ternary BCH(26,14) code for sequential data, the other is random-triple -error-correcting ternary BCH (26,13) code. The encoders and the decoders realized are verified by experiment. Amount of the (26,13) decoder's hardware is about 50% of the one of the (26,14) decoder's one.

  • In this paper, a new design for an error correcting code (ECC) is proposed. The design is aimed to build an ECC circuitry with minimal power consumption. The genetic algorithm equipped with the symbiotic mechanism is used to design a power-efficient ECC which provides single-error correction and double-error detection (SEC-DED). We formulate the selection of the parity check matrix into a collection of individual and specialized optimization problems and propose a symbiotic evolution method to search for an ECC with minimal power consumption. Finally, we conduct simulations to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Underwater acoustic communication has multi path error because of reflection by sea-level and sea-bottom. The multipath of underwater channel causes signal distortion and error floor. In this paper, we consider the use of various channel coding schemes such as RS code, convolutional code, cross-layer code and LDPC code in order to compensate the multipath effect in underwater channel. As shown in simulation results, characteristic of multipath error is similar to that of random error, so interleaver has little effect for error correcting. For correcting of error floor by multipath error, it is necessary strong channel codes like LDPC code that is similar to Shannon's limit. And the performance of concatenated codes including RS codes has better performance than using singular channel codes.

  • Loop transversal codes take an alternative approach to the theory of error-correcting codes, placing emphasis on the set of errors that are to be corrected. Hitherto, the loop transversal code method has been restricted to linear codes. The goal of the current paper is to extend the conceptual framework of loop transversal codes to admit nonlinear codes. We present a natural example of this nonlinearity among perfect single-error correcting codes that exhibit efficient domination in a circulant graph, and contrast it with linear codes in a similar context.

  • Quantum low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes based on the Calderbank-Shor-Steane construction have low encoding and decoding complexity. The sum-product algorithm(SPA) can be used to decode quantum LDPC codes; however, the decoding performance may be significantly decreased by the many four-cycles required by this type of quantum codes. All four-cycles can be eliminated using the entanglement-assisted formalism with maximally entangled states (ebits). The proposed entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting code based on Euclidean geometry outperform differently structured quantum codes. However, the large number of ebits required to construct the entanglement-assisted formalism is a substantial obstacle to practical application. In this paper, we propose a novel class of entanglement-assisted quantum LDPC codes constructed using classical Euclidean geometry LDPC codes. Notably, the new codes require one copy of the ebit. Furthermore, we propose a construction scheme for a corresponding zigzag matrix and show that the algebraic structure of the codes could easily be expanded. A large class of quantum codes with various code lengths and code rates can be constructed. Our methods significantly improve the possibility of practical implementation of quantum error-correcting codes. Simulation results show that the entanglement-assisted quantum LDPC codes described in this study perform very well over a depolarizing channel with iterative decoding based on the SPA and that these codes outperform other quantum codes based on Euclidean geometries.

  • Two-dimensional product code has been studied for correcting burst errors on the storage systems. An RS-LDPC product code consists of an RS code in horizontal direction and an LDPC code in vertical direction. First, we detect the position of burst errors by using RS code, then LDPC code corrects the errors by using the burst error positions. In storage system, long burst errors are occurred by various reason. So, we need a strong code for correcting the long burst errors. RS-LDPC product code is good for long burst errors. However, as the storage density grows the length of the burst errors will be longer. Thus, we propose an LDPC-LDPC product code, it is strong for correcting the very long burst errors. Also, the proposed LDPC-LDPC product code performs better than RS-LDPC product code when the random errors are occurred, because a row direction LDPC code performs better than row direction RS code.

  • The majority - logic decoding algorithm for Geometry code is more simply imlemented than the known decoding algorithm for BCH codes. Thus, the moderate code word, Geometry codes provide rather effective error control. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the Reed - Muller code and to design the encoder and decoder circuit and to find the performance for (15, 11) Reed - muller code. Experimental results show that the system has not only single error - correcting ability but also good performance.
