Guideline-based Evaluation of Human Machine System Environment with the Advanced Information Display (디지털 정보표시 환경의 지침 기반 평가 기술)

  • The analog typed interface of main control room in nuclear power plant(NPP) is gradually being replaced to the one suitable for the digital environment. SKN 3,4 is currently developed in such a way to employ digitalized displays and controls such as computerized procedure system(CPS), large display panel(LDP), and Soft control. The main control room (MCR) of the SKN3, 4 was designed based on the human factors guidelines, which somehow lack of the confidence for the rapidly the developed guidelines needs to extend to the one to apply for the total digital environment including task environment, hardware and workstation. In order to achieve the research objectives, tremendous guidelines and technical papers related to evaluation issues of digital environment has been collected, analyzed and transformed to electric database forms and then built on database management system to retrieve the appropriate isues for the practical usage of evaluators-in-field.

The Evaluation of Driver's Physiology Signal and Sensibility according to the Change of Speed and the Gap of Platoon on AHS (AHS에서 차량군의 속도와 거리 변화에 따른 운전자의 생체신호와 감성 평가)

  • The one of the most important factors is the platoon design on developing AH3(Advanced Highway System), as it is related to traffic efficiency and drivers' safety. This study was evaluated that how much speed is comfortable for drivers and how long distance is appropriate for vehicular gap of platoon by measuring drivers' physiology signal and sensibility. A fixed-based AHS simulator was developed by using a real vehicle cockpit and the restructured part of Korean highway for human factors evaluation. The EEG(electroencephalogram), ECG (electrocardiogram) and GSR(Galvanic Skin Response) were measured for obtaining drivers' physiology signal according to the change of speed and gap. The brain wave(${\alpha},\;{\beta},\;{\delta},\;{\theta}$) by EEG, the response of the autonomic nervous system. the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, by ECG, and relax-arousal situation by GSR were analyzed. The SD(Semantic Differential) method was also applied to evaluate drivers' sensibility by 5-grade evaluation scale with 96 adjectives. SSQ(Simulator Sickness Questionnaire) was used to measure the simulator sickness of pre and post driving, two times. As the results, drivers were comfortable with 120km/h speed of platoon and lam to 15m vehicular distance. The results of this study may differ from the adaption of the reality because of many parameters. However, the purpose of this study is show to significant results of the drivers' safety and the acceptability of human factors evaluation.

Development of an Automatic Expert System for Human Sensibility Evaluation based on Physiological Signal (생리신호를 기반으로 한 자동 감성 평가 전문가 시스템의 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an automatic expert system for the evaluation of human sensibility, where human sensibility can be inferred from objective physiological signals. The study aim was also to develop an algorithm in which human arousal and pleasant level can be judged by using measured physiological signals. Fuzzy theory was applied for mathematical handling of the ambiguity related to evaluation of human sensibility. and the degree of belonging to a certain sensibility dimension was quantified by membership function through which the sensibility evaluation was able to be done. Determining membership function was achieved using results from a physiological signal database of arousal/relaxation and pleasant/unpleasant that was generated from imagination. To induce one final result (arousal and pleasant level) based on measuring the results of more than 2 physiological signals and the membership function of each physiological signal. Dempster-Shafer's rule of combination in evidence was applied, through which the final arousal and pleasant level was inferred.

Cost-effectiveness Analysis for Clothing Design Improvement Using Ergonomic Methods: Evaluation of Flame-proof Clothing and Design Optimization (의복 개선 설계의 비용 대비 인간공학적 효과 분석: 방연복의 평가 및 최적 설계 도출)

  • Ergonomic techniques have been required to analyze the effectiveness of functional clothing design improvement in a systematic and analytic manner. The goals of the present study are to: (1) comprehensively and analytically examine the effectiveness of clothing improvement by using the relationship analysis between clothing design components (D) and ergonomic evaluation measures (E) and (2) prove the usefulness of cost-effectiveness analysis for clothing design optimization. The cost effectiveness analysis is comprised of the preliminary evaluation based on expertise and the in-depth evaluation where the D-E relationship analysis is applied. As a result of the cost effectiveness analysis applied to flame-proof clothing, an optimal design was identified by analyzing costs and qualitative/quantitative effects. In the preliminary evaluation, the expected effectiveness of each design alternative on wear efficiency and wear comfort was estimated. In the in-depth evaluation, however, the effectiveness of each design alternative was analyzed by quantitative evaluation in a wearing test using a questionnaire prepared based on the D-E relationship analysis. It was concluded that the D-E relationship analysis and the cost-effectiveness analysis are useful for comprehensive evaluation and optimization of functional clothing design.

  • User's sensibility has an important effect upon appreciating household electronic appliances and user's feeling of satisfaction with products has a good effect on the choice of product on purchasing those items. In this point of view, the human-oriented approach of product development system can be adopted as Human Sensibility Engineering. The target of changed development system is to define user's sensibility factors and to apply them to design and development. In this study, the human sensibility ergonomics approach and usability test have been applied to the development and evaluation of an electronic product model.

A Study on Discrimination Sensitivity between EEG Patterns under IAPS(International Affective Picture System) Stimuli (시각 감성평가를 위한 뇌파의 민감성에 대한 연구)

  • The sensitivity of the emotion evoked visually by IAPS was attempted to be defined using EEG(electroencephalogram). Twenty university students were participated in this study. Their EEG was measured and analyzed in terms of frequency range such as delta, theta, alpha and beta wave. The results showed that alpha increased, but delta and beta decreased with positive emotional progress. Inter-variation between alpha and delta in F4 and beta variation in P3 were indicative of the evaluation sensitivity of human emotion.

  • One of the major requirements in preventing Work-related MusculoSkeletal Disorders(WMSDs) is to know definitely what vigorous exertion requirements are contained in a job. This requires improved job analysis tools which can accurately evaluate potentially harmful stresses to the musculoskeletal system. But to simply evaluate the level of stress at a joint, or in a muscle is not enough to motivate job changes. Therefore, the development of ergonomic evaluation tools for the jobs are important to ergonomics. The main objective is compared of the results that made by the ergonomic evaluation tools (e.g., BRIEF and RULA) in actually shoes manufacturing. These were developed in the foreign. So, it is priory needed to research of the ergonomics about Korean characteristic work by physiology and biomechanics.

  • One of the most important works in the development of military aircraft is to construct and utilize the various technical data and information needed in the design, analysis and evaluation under integrated system structure. A vast and various data in oder to optimize cockpit design is needed in geometric & arrangement design, vision analysis and escape system design. In addition, the application of ergonomics cockpit design concept based on the sorts of human elements and anthropometric data as design consideration for pilots is required. To accomplish above these activities, the data gathered and formed through the aircraft development program was become database and developed by tool to be able to support ergonomics cockpit design work.
