  • In this paper the feedback linearization of the valve-controlled nonlinear hydraulic velocity control system and the implementation of the digital state feedback controller is studied. The $C^{\infty}$ nonlinear transfomation to the electro-hydraulic velocity control system, which transforms nonlinear system to linear equivalent one, is obtained. It is shown that this transformation is global one. The digital controller to this linearized model is obtained by using the one-step ahead state estimator and implemented to real plant. The proposed implementation method is easier than the other proposed methods and it is possible to control in real time. The experiment and simulation study show that the implementation of the digital state feedback controller based on the feedback linearized model is successful..

  • A passive vibration mitigation architecture is proposed to damp transverse vibrations of guyed masts. The scheme is based on a number of pendula attached to the mast and tuned to the vibration modes to be controlled. This scheme differs from the well-known autoparametric pendulum absorber system. The equations of motion of the guyed mast with an arbitrary number of pendula are obtained. The leading bending behaviour of a typical truss mast is described by an equivalent beam model whereas the guys are conveniently modeled as equivalent transverse springs whose stiffness comprises the elastic and geometric stiffness. By assuming a mast with an inertially and elastically isotropic cross-section, a planar model of the guyed mast is investigated. The linearization of the equations of motion of the mast subject to a harmonic distributed force leads to the transfer functions of the structure without the dampers and with the dampers. The transfer functions allow to investigate the mitigation effects of the pendula. By employing one pendulum only, tuned to the frequency of the lowest mode, the effectiveness of the passive vibration potential in reducing the motion and acceleration of the top section of the mast is demonstrated.

  • Two methods for the dynamic analysis of fixed offshore structures subjected to random waves are studied. They are the frequency domain method using the equivalent linearization of the nonlinear drag force, and the time domain method utilizing the Monte Carlo simulation technique for time series of random wave particle velocities and accelerations. Example analyses are carried out for two structures with different structural characteristics and for various wave conditions. A comparison has been made between the results obtained by two methods.

  • This paper proposed a novel high performance sensorless control scheme for IPMSM based on an extended nonlinear state observer. The gain-matrix of the observer has been derived by using state linearization method. Steady state errors in estimated rotor position and speed due to parameter inaccuracy have been analyzed, and an equivalent flux error is defined to represent the overall effect of parameter errors contributing to the wrong convergence of the estimated rotor speed as well as rotor position. Then, an online compensation strategy was proposed to limit the estimation errors in rotor position and speed. The effectiveness of the extended nonlinear state observer is validated through simulation and experimental test.

  • This paper proposes the MIMO indirect adaptive fuzzy controller to control the two-link manipulators. The input-output linearization technique, equivalent control input plus integral term, augmented error model and recursive least square adaptive law are used fer the controller. The linear type of fuzzifier-defuzzifier fuzzy logic system used for nonlinear function makes easy to farm the error model and able to follow the adaptive system approach. Such that control approach, the control system is not required joint speed and accerelation measurement and easy to implement and tune. The simulation results showed that the proposed controller has good control performance, stability, very small tracking error, decoupling, fast convergence, robust to parameter variation and load.

  • Composite materials also known as fiber reinforced plastics have been developed and used in many engineering applications due to their outstanding mechanical properties. Laminated plates as structural components that are made of in composite material are widely used. Therefore, nonlinear response of laminated composite plates modeled with finite elements and excited by stochastic loading is studied. The classical laminated plate theory is used to account for the variation of strains through the thickness for modeling laminated thin plates. Approximate nonlinear random vibration analysis is performed using the method of equivalent linearization to account for material non-linearity.

  • Vessels stability problems need to resolve the nonlinear mathematical models of rolling motion. For nonlinear systems subjected to random excitations, there are very few special cases can obtain the exact solutions. In this paper, the specific differential equations of rolling motion for intact ship considering the restoring and damping moment have researched firstly. Then the partial stochastic linearization method is applied to study the response statistics of nonlinear ship rolling motion in beam seas. The ship rolling nonlinear stochastic differential equation is then solved approximately by keeping the equivalent damping coefficient as a parameter and nonlinear response of the ship is determined in the frequency domain by a linear analysis method finally.

  • This study presents the reliability-based analysis of nonlinear structures using the analytical fragility curves excited by random earthquake loads. The stochastic method of ground motion simulation is combined with the random vibration theory to compute structural failure probability. The formulation of structural failure probability using random vibration theory, based on only the frequency information of the excitation, provides an important basis for structural analysis in places where there is a lack of sufficient recorded ground motions. The importance of frequency content of ground motions on probability of structural failure is studied for different levels of the nonlinear behavior of structures. The set of simulated ground motion for this study is based on the results of probabilistic seismic hazard analysis. It is demonstrated that the scenario events identified by the seismic risk differ from those obtained by the disaggregation of seismic hazard. The validity of the presented procedure is evaluated by Monte-Carlo simulation.

  • We investigate the feedback linearizability of nonlinear discrete-time system s of a specific form, $x_k=G_{u_k}oF(x_k)$ where F is a diffeomorphism and [$G_{u_k}$] forms an one parameter group of diffeomorphisms. This structure represents a class of systems which are state equivalent to linear ones and approximates the sampled data model of a continuous-time system. It is also considered a relationship between linearizability and discretization.
