This study analyzes the transplanting parts used as the graft of artificial knee joint. The low elastic titanium alloy is applied to clear up the stress shield effect. The simulation analysis is carried about the stress distribution of the transplanting parts. The correlation with frame is inferred and investigated through the equivalent stress distribution of titanium alloy due to elastic modulus. The stress of the transplanting parts decreases as the elastic modulus decreases at the first time. It decreases greatly near the stress of 46 GPa and increases again. Because the stress happened at the transplanting parts decreases, more stress is applied on the frame. This phenomenon is the stress shield effect. The result of this study can be thought to be necessary to develop the safe design of composite material.

In the present study, the loading frequency dependencies of cyclic shear strength and elastic shear modulus of reconstituted clay were examined by performing undrained cyclic triaxial tests and undrained cyclic triaxial tests to determine deformation properties. The result of undrained cyclic triaxial test of reconstituted and saturated clay shows that a faster frequency leads to higher stress amplitude ratio, but when the frequency becomes fast up to a certain point, the stress amplitude ratio will reach its maximum limit and the frequency dependence becomes insignificant. And also, the result of undrained cyclic triaxial deformation test shows a fact that a faster loading frequency leads to higher equivalent shear modules and smaller hysteresis damping ratio, and confirms the frequency dependence of cohesive soil. Meanwhile, the result of the creep test shows that continuing creep is created in the undrained cyclic triaxial test with slow loading frequency rate, and since loading rate becomes slower at the vicinity of the maximum and the minimum deviator stress due to sine wave loading, the vicinity of the maximum and the minimum deviator stress shall be more influenced by creep.
In the current study, the nonlinear vibration properties of an embedded zigzag single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) are investigated. Winkler-type model is used to simulate the interaction of the zigzag SWCNTs with a surrounding elastic medium. The relation between deflection amplitudes and resonant frequencies of the SWCNT is derived through harmonic balance method. The equivalent Young's modulus and shear modulus for zigzag SWCNT are derived using an energy-equivalent model. The amplitude - frequency curves for large-amplitude vibrations are graphically illustrated. The simulation results show that the chirality of zigzag carbon nanolube as well as surrounding elastic medium play more important roles in the nonlinear vibration of the single-walled carbon nanotubes.

This paper investigates the static and dynamic behaviors of imperfect single walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) modeled as a beam structure by using energy-equivalent model (EEM), for the first time. Based on EEM Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio for zigzag (n, 0), and armchair (n, n) carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are presented as functions of orientation and force constants. Nonlinear Euler-Bernoulli assumptions are proposed considering mid-plane stretching to exhibit a large deformation and a small strain. To simulate the interaction of CNTs with the surrounding elastic medium, nonlinear elastic foundation with cubic nonlinearity and shearing layer are employed. The equation governed the motion of curved CNTs is a nonlinear integropartial-differential equation. It is derived in terms of only the lateral displacement. The nonlinear integro-differential equation that governs the buckling of CNT is numerically solved using the differential integral quadrature method (DIQM) and Newton's method. The linear vibration problem around the static configurations is discretized using DIQM and then is solved as a linear eigenvalue problem. Numerical results are depicted to illustrate the influence of chirality angle and imperfection amplitude on static response, buckling load and dynamic behaviors of armchair and zigzag CNTs. Both, clamped-clamped (C-C) and simply supported (SS-SS) boundary conditions are examined. This model is helpful especially in mechanical design of NEMS manufactured from CNTs.

Like composite material. the coil winding pack of the KSTAR (Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) consist of multiphase element such as metallic jacket material for protecting superconducting cable, vacuum pressurized imprepregnated (VPI) insulation, and corner roving filler. For jacket material, four CS (Central Solenoid) Coils, $5^{th}$ PF (Poloidal Field) Coil, and TF (Toroidal Field Coil) use Incoloy 908 and $6-7^{th}$ PF coil, Cold worked 316LN. In order to analyze the global behavior of large coil support structure with coil winding pack, it is required to replace the winding pack to monolithic matter with the equivalent mechanical properties, i.e. Young's moduli, shear moduli due to constraint of total nodes number and element numbers. In this study, Equivalent Young's moduli, shear moduli, Poisson's ratio, and thermal expansion coefficient were calculated for all coil winding pack using Finite Element Method.
A new non-destructive fatigue prediction model of the composite laminates is developed. The natural frequencies of fatigue-damaged laminates under extensional loading are related to the fatigue life of the laminates by establishing the equivalent flexural stiffness reduction as a function of the elastic properties of sublaminates. The flexural stiffness is derived by relating the 90-ply elastic modulus reduction, and using the laminate plate theory to the degraded elastic modulus and the intact elastic modulus of other laminates. The natural frequency reduction model, in which the dominant fatigue mode can be identified from the sensitivity scale factors of sublaminate elastic properties, provides natural frequency vs. fatigue cycle curves for the composite laminates. Vibration tests were also conducted on $[{90}_2/0_2]_s$ carbon/epoxy laminates to verify the natural frequency reduction model. Correlations between the predictions of the model and experimental results are good.

The refractory-lined pipe is used to protect the system from high-temperature of the internal flow. The property of the refractory has an effect upon the stress analysis for fluid catalytic cracking(FCC) unit piping design. The equivalent elastic modulus and density considering steel and refractory must be applied in the stress analysis of the system. In the research, the theoretical method to obtain the value of the equivalent property is introduced and then the parametric analysis is carried out to understand the characteristic of the material properties, and the stress analysis is performed with reactor, the part of FCC unit.
The aim of this study was to explore the influence of structure coupling effect on structural damping of blade based on the blade vibration characteristic. For this purpose, the scaled blade model of NREL 5 MW offshore wind turbine was processed and employed in the wind tunnel test to validate the reliability of theoretical and numerical models. The attenuation curves of maximum displacement and the varying curves of equivalent damping coefficient of the blade under the rated condition were respectively compared and analyzed by constructing single blade model and whole machine model. The attenuation law of blade dynamic response was obtained and the structure coupling effect was proved to exert a significant influence on the equivalent damping coefficient. The results indicate that the attenuation trend of the maximum displacement response curve of the single blade varies more obviously with the increase of elastic modulus as compared to that under the structure coupling effect. In contrast to the single blade model, the varying curve of equivalent damping coefficient with the period is relatively steep for the whole machine model. The findings are of great significance to guide the structure design and material selection for wind turbine blades.

A equivalent stiffness modeling has been performed for extracting the equivalent stiffness properties which are orthotropic elastic model from a large scale wind turbine rotor blade so that structure model can be constructed more simply for the three dimensional static aeroelastic analysis. In order to present the procedure of equivalent stiffness modeling, NREL 5MW class wind turbine rotor having the three stiffness information which are flapewise, edgewise and torsional stiffness was chosen. This method is based on applying unit moment at the tip of the blade as well as fixing all degree of freedom at the blade root and calculating the displacement from the load analysis to obtain the elastic modulus corresponding to equivalent stiffness referred to the NREL reports on blade divided into 5 sections respectively. In addition, one section was divided into 3 parts and the trend functions were used to make the equivalent stiffness model more correctly and quickly. Through the comparison of stiffness between the reference values and calculated values from equivalent stiffness model, the investigation of the accuracy on the stiffness values and the efficiency for constructing the model was conducted.

Structural capacity of water channel fabricated of concrete including blast furnace slag were investigated in this paper. An experimental study was consisted of materials test and structural test of concrete water channel. The mechanical properties of concrete including blast furnace slag were investigated. Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) was used as basic binder and the effect of the replacement of blast furnace slag for OPC was investigated. Experiments were performed to measure mechanical properties including compressive strength, elastic modulus and modulus of rupture. Test results show that the compressive strengths and modulus of ruptures of mixtures containing blast furnace slag were equivalent to those of OPC concrete. In addition, the structural capacity of concrete water channel with up to the replacement ratio of blast furnace slag of 45% was greater than the required strength in KS specification.
