A method and results of computations are presented for the 2-D seismic migration process in the frequency-wavenumber domain for the laterally and vertically inhomogeneous medium. In order to take the intrinsic attenuation effect into account in the migration process the complex-valued wave velocity is used in the wavefield extrapolation operator, improving the generalized frequency-wavenumber migration technique. The imaginary part of the complex-valued wave velocity includes the seismic quality factor Q value. In derivation of the solution of the wave equation for the medium of inhomogeneous wave velocity and anelasticity, the inhomogeneous medium is mathematically converted to an equivalent system which consists of a homogeneous medium of averaged slowness and an inhomogeneous distribution of hypothetical wave source. The strength of the hypothetical wave source depends on the deviation of squared slowness from the averaged value of the medium. Results of numerical computation using the technique show more distinct geologic images than those using the convensional generalized frequency-wavenumber migration. Especially, the obscured images due to the wave attenuation by anelasticity are restored to show sharp boundaries of structures. The method will be useful in the imaging of the reflection data obtained in the regions of possible petroleum or natural gas reservoir and of fractured zone.

This paper presents a finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) simulation and a data processing technique for radar sensing of the internal structure of a wall using an ultra-wide band antenna. We first designed an ultra-wide band anti-podal vivaldi antenna with a frequency range of 0.3~7 GHz which is chosen to be relatively low after considering the characteristics of wave attenuation, wall penetration, and range resolution. In this study the two-dimensional FDTD technique was used to simulate a wall-penetration-radar experiment under practical conditions. The next, the measured radiation pattern of the practical antenna is considered as an equivalent source in the FDTD simulation, and the reflection data of a concrete wall and targets are obtained by using the simulation. Then, a data processing technique has been applied to the FDTD reflection data to get a radar image for remote sensing of the internal structure of the wall. We compared the two different source excitations in the FDTD simulation; (1) commonly-used isotropic point sources and (2) polynomial curve fitting sources of the measured radiation pattern. As a result, when we apply the measured antenna pattern into the FDTD simulation, we could obtain about 2.5 dB higher signal to noise level than using a plane wave incidence with isotropic sources.
The objective of this paper is to investigate translated individual words in J. S. Gale's "Choon Yang" in comparison with its original OkJoongHwa("獄中花") while referring to early modern bilingual dictionaries and missionaries' ethnography. Gale faced a lot of translation difficulties because the source text had a very different cultural system from the object text. OkJoongHwa was a Korean pansori novel which meant it included many Korean characteristics. However, Gale considered its Korean characteristics were deeply connected with Chinese classics. Even famous people and place names cited from the Chinese classics in OkJoongHwa represented the Korean thinking. Gale tried to faithfully translate the source text as much as possible whether the words were Chinese or Korean. In this paper, we deal with mostly various translation aspects of the Chinese-letter words in OkJoongHwa. Gale's first method to translate words made of Chinese Character is transliteration, the examples of which are the name of Chinese famous people and places, and Chinese poems. The second method is to parallel transliteration and English interpretation equivalent to the Chinese Character. The examples are the names of main characters like "Spring Fragrance or Choonyang," "Mongyong, or Dream-Dragon" and in his translation of word play in Osa (Commissioner), or Kamsa (Governor), kaiksa (a dead beggar). The third is literal translation of Chinese idiomatic phrases as Gale translated 侵魚落雁 into "She'd make the fishes to sink and the wild-geese to drop from the sky." The fourth is a little free translation of the title of public office, the various names of Korean yamen servants and the unique Korean clothing and ornaments. We expect Gale's many translation difficulties as we can see the translated long list of yamen clerks and Korean clothing and ornaments. After our investigation of his translation practices in "Choon Yang" we conclude that he tried to translate its literary language very faithfully though he could not avoid inevitable loss caused by the cultural difference involved in two languages. Gale's "Choon Yang" contributed to introducing the uniqueness of the classical Korean novel and Korean culture to the world more than any other English translation works of that time through his faithful translation.
Multiple lines of study have shown that Acanthopanax species have anti-oxidant and chemopreventive effect. However, the suitability of Acanthopanax sessilifloru fruit (Ogaza) as a functional food source remains to be investigated. Therefore, we have investigated the effect of Ogaza as an anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory substance. The phenolic content of Ogaza is 56.1${\pm}$5.2 mg gallic acid equivalents (GAE) per 1 g of Ogaza. The 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid (ABTS) radical scavenging effects of Ogaza extract at 0.25, 0.5, 1, or 2 mg/mL were 34.0, 73.0, 194.3, or 339.7 $\mu g$/mL vitamin C equivalent antioxidnat capacity (VCEAC), respectively. Ogaza extract (1 or 2 mg/mL) inhibited LPS-induced TNF-$\alpha$ production (decrease of 22${\pm}$2% or 19${\pm}$6%, respectively). It also inhibited LPS-induced IL-6 production (decrease of 18${\pm}$2% or 24${\pm}$3%, respectively). In addition, Ogaza extract (0.25, 0.5, 1, or 2 mg/mL) inhibited COX-2 luciferase activity (decrease of 80${\pm}$1%, 83.${\pm}$7%, 96${\pm}$4%, or 98${\pm}$2%, respectively). Overall, these results indicated that Ogaza is promising as a functional food source due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
On September 23, 2020, at 1:39 a.m., a bright fireball above Seocheon was observed across the country. Two fireball explosions were identified in the images of the All-Sky Camera (ASC), and the shock waves were recorded at seismic and infrasound stations in the southwestern Korean Peninsula. The location of the explosion was estimated by a Bayesian-based location method using the arrival times of the fireball-associated seismic and infrasound signals at 17 stations. Realistic azimuth- and rang-dependent propagation speeds of sound waves were incorporated into the location method to increase the reliability of the results. The location of the sound source was found to be 36.050°N, 126.855°E at an altitude of 35 km, which was close to the location of the second fireball explosion. The two explosions were identified as sequential infrasound arrivals at local infrasound stations. Simulations of waveforms for long ranges explain the detection results at distant infrasound stations, up to ~266 km from the sound source. The dominant period of the signals recorded at five infrasound stations is about 0.4 s. A period-energy relation suggests the explosion energy was equivalent to ~0.3 ton of TNT.

Neurodegenerative disorders in the elderly are characterized by gradual loss of memory and cognitive function. Oxidative stress caused by reactive oxygen species is associated with progressive neuronal cell damage and death in Alzheimer's disease, one of the most common neurodegenerative disorders. An edible brown seaweed, Ecklonia cava, contains a variety of biologically active compounds such as phlorotannins. In this study, we comparatively evaluated the total phenolic content, antioxidant capacity, and neuroprotective effects of the phlorotannin-rich extract from E. cava (PEEC). The total phenolic content of PEEC and dieckol was 810.8 mg gallic acid equivalents (GAE)/g and 996.6 mg GAE/g, respectively. Antioxidant capacity of PEEC was 1,233.8 mg vitamin C equivalents (VCE)/g and 392.1 mg VCE/g determined using ABTS and DPPH assays, respectively, while those of dieckol were 2,238.4 mg VCE/g and 817.7 mg VCE/g. High-performance liquid chromatography results revealed 48.08 ± 0.67 mg dieckol/g of PEEC. PEEC had neuroprotective effects in pheochromocytoma (PC-12) and human neuroblastoma (SH-SY5Y) cells against H2O2- and AAPH-induced oxidative damage, partly due to reduced intracellular oxidative stress. PEEC treatment inhibited acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase in a dose-dependent manner. Taken together, these findings suggest that PEEC is a good source of antioxidants and neuroprotective materials.
A somewhat detailed energy spectra in terms of the track length resulting from coupled electron-photon slowing down are calculated throughout the ICRU standard tissue with uniformly distributed gamma sources of $^{60}Co\;and\;^{137}Cs$, respectively. The calculation was accomplished by utilizing the latest available cross-section data as input to a carefully optimized computer code. In this report, the calculational method is described in detail. Furthermore, results of calculations are given in graphical form. The results show that the energy spectrum defined in terms of differential track length has about same shape although the energies of gamma source are different. The discontinuity in the energy spectrum appears at the energy of $T=(1/T_0+2/m_0c^2)^{-1}$, because a primary photon can not be degrade to a point below this energy.
Stealing the source code of a program is a serious problem not only in a moral sense but also in a legal sense. However, it is not clear whether the code of a program is copied from another or not. There was a program similarity checker detecting code-copy by comparing the syntax trees of programs. However this method has a limitation that it cannot detect the code-copy attacks when the attacker modifies the syntax of the program on purpose. We propose a program similarity check by program control graph, which reveals not only syntax information but also control dependancy. Our method can detect the code-copy attacks that do not change control dependancy Moreover, we define what code-copy means and establish the connection between code-copy and similarity of program control graph: we prove that two programs are related by copy congruence if and only if the program control graphs of these programs are equivalent. We implemented our method on a functional programming language, nML. The experimental results show us that the suggested method can detect code similarity that is not detected by the existing method.

This paper presents an modelling and analysis of SSSC and UPFC in static analysis of power systems. SSSC is used to control active power flow in transmission lines by controlling the phase angle of the injected voltage source which is in rectangular to the line current. UPEC is used to control the magnitude and phase of the injected voltage sources which are connected both in series and in parallel with the transmission line to control power flow and bus voltage. To compare the effect of SSSC and UPFC in power system static analysis, the PSS/E simulation program is used. As the FACTS device model such as SSSC and UPFC is not provided in PSS/E yet, an equivalent load model is used. This procedure is implemented by IPLAN which is an external macro program of PSS/E. The simulation results show that UPFC is more effective to improve bus voltage than SSSC in power system static analysis.

Herein, electromagnetic shielding structures to reduce the external noise coupling to printed spiral coils (PSCs) and a design method for improving the bandwidth of shielded PSCs have been proposed. It has been demonstrated that the bandwidth of shielded PSCs is limited due to the parasitic capacitance between the coils and the shielding structures and is confirmed by the transfer function simulation of the shielded PSCs with a transmission line as the radio-frequency interference noise source. A design method for the bandwidth improvement of the shielded PSCs has been proposed based on the equivalent circuit model analysis and the case studies depending on PSC designs with a three-dimensional field simulation. With the design method, an optimized shielded PSC design has been presented and successfully confirmed by experimental verification in that the optimized design results in a significant bandwidth improvement.
