Design of ATM Networks with Multiple Traffic Classes

  • In this paper, we propose a new heuristic design algorithm for the virtual path (VP)-based ATM network with multiple traffic classes, in which QoS constraints associated with traffic class are taken into account. The minimum bandwidth of VP required to carry given amount of traffic is obtained by utilizing an equivalent bandwidth concept, and the route of each VP is placed so that the network cost is minimized while the QoS requirement is fulfilled To evaluate our design algorithm, we consider two kinds of traffic: voice traffic as low speed service and still picture traffic as high speed service. Through numerical examples, we demonstrate that our design method can achieve an efficient use of network resources, which results in providing a cost-effective VP-based ATM network.

  • In this paper, we present a useful method of estimating earth resistivity using BP algorithm in Neural-Networks. From this method, equivalent earth resistivity(EER) can be obtained directly using training data composed of field-measured apparent resistivity and probe distance. This approach can reduce errors which is conventionally raised from manual operation of calculating EER. To evaluate its accuracy and convenience, the result of proposed method is compared to that of conventional methods, graphical($\rho$-a graph) and numerical(CDEGS program), respectively.

  • In the distribution networks, it is necessary to develop small and light voltage and current sensor for compact and digitalized switchgears. For this purpose, some researches have been continuing till now, CT(current transformer) and VT(voltage transformer) are one of that research. But conventional CT and VT have some problems, that is, have big size and saturation characteristics because of used to iron core. In this paper, CS(current sensor) and VS(voltage sensor), have some merits measuring of current and voltage magnitude as a alternated conventional equipment, were studied. So, this paper shows the process CS and VS design method, equivalent circuit and output result, respectively. As a result of this test, proposed CS and VS have linearity for the output, no saturation.

  • In this paper, we study new HOL-LJ scheme to guarantee the QoW of low priority cell with simple hardware which is not realizable in previously proposed HOL and HOL-PJ. the performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by analysing an equivalent /M/M/1/N queuing system. In case of using the proposed scheme, we confirmed that good performance compared with HOL-PJ through simpulation and mathematical analysis. We also applied HOL-LJ algorithm to convetional Dual Buffer and Partial Buffer, and we analyzed the performance through computer simulation.

  • The study on the flow characteristics and analysis of groundwater in discontinuous rock mass is very important, since the water inflow into the underground opening during excavation induces serious stability and environmental problems. To investigate the flow through single rock joint, the effect of various aperture distribution on the groundwater flow has been analyzed. Observed through the analysis is the "channel flow", the phenomenon that the flow is dominant along the path of large aperture for given joint. The equivalent hydraulic conductivity is estimated and verified through the application of the joint network analysis for 100 joint maps generated statistically. Both the analytic aproach based on isotropic continuum premise and the joint network analysis are tested and compared analyzing the gorundwater inflow for underground openings of different sizes and varying joint density. The joint network analysis is considered better to reflect the geometric properties of joint distribution in analyzing the groundwater flow.ater flow.

Simple Countermeasure to Cryptanalysis against Unified ECC Codes

  • As a countermeasure to simple power attack, the unified point addition codes for the elliptic curve cryptosystem were introduced. However, some authors proposed a different kind of power attacks to the codes. This power attack uses the observation that some internal operations in the codes behave differently for addition and doubling. In this paper, we propose a new countermeasure against such an attack. The basic idea of the new countermeasure is that, if one of the input points of the codes is transformed to an equivalent point over the underlying finite field, then the code will behave in the same manner for addition and doubling. The new countermeasure is highly efficient in that it only requires 27(n-1)/3 extra ordinary integer subtractions (in average) for the whole n-bit scalar multiplication. The timing analysis of the proposed countermeasure is also presented to confirm its SPA resistance.

  • In this study, the performance of automatic thermostatic valves according to each heating method of a large scale residential building were researched by simulation. The flow characteristics of the entire pipe networks of the hot water radiant heating system is analized by using linear analysis method. For the analysis of unsteady heat transfer phenomena in each household, the method of using electric equivalent R-C circuit is applied.

  • 입, 출력 정합단에 타원여파기와 보조회로를 첨가하여 광대역증폭기의 마이크로파 집적회로(MIC)를 설계한다. 이 증폭기를 해석하기 위하여 GaAS MESFET의 입, 출력회로를 단방향성 등가회로로 변환한다. 입,출력 임피던스는 타원여파기로 정합하여 집적회로화 한다. 실험결과는 4~8GHz의 주파수내역에서 이득 10.5dB, 최대 정재파비 2.1:1 및 최대 잡음지수 2.5dB의 특성을 보인다.

  • This paper proposes a fault detection and recovery mechanism for a fault-tolerant Mini-MAP system, and provides detailed techniques for its implementation. This paper considers the fault-tolerant Mini-MAP system which has dual layer structure from the LLC sublayer down to the physical layer to cope with the faults of those layers. For a good fault detection, a redundant and hierarchical fault supervision architecture is proposed and its implementation technique for a stable detection operation is provided. Information for the fault location is provided from data reported with a fault detection and obtained by an additional network diagnosis. The faults are recovered by the stand-by sparing method applied for a dual network composed of two equivalent networks. A network switch mechanism is proposed to achieve a reliable and stable network function. A fault-tolerant Mini-MAP system is implemented by applying the proposed fault detection and recovery mechanism.

  • Conventional static reliability analysis methods are inadequate for modeling dynamic interactions between components of a system. Various techniques such as dynamic fault tree, dynamic Bayesian networks, and dynamic reliability block diagrams have been proposed for modeling dynamic systems based on improvement of the conventional modeling methods. In this paper, we review these methods briefly and introduce dynamic nodes to the existing reliability graph with general gates (RGGG) as an intuitive modeling method to model dynamic systems. For a quantitative analysis, we use a discrete-time method to convert an RGGG to an equivalent Bayesian network and develop a software tool for generation of probability tables.
