1-3형 압전복합재료 등가물성 직접 추출 기법의 정확도 분석 (Accuracy of a direct estimation method for equivalent material properties of 1-3 piezocomposites)

  • 본 논문에서는 1-3형 압전복합재료를 단일상의 균질 압전매질로 모델링하기 위해 필요한 등가의 물성을 유한요소 해석으로 직접 추출하는 기법의 정확도를 다룬다. 직접 추출 기법은 압전재료의 전기적, 기계적 거동과 상호 간 커플링을 기술하는 구성방정식을 기반으로 물성 행렬의 개별 성분들을 직접적으로 산출하는 방법이다. 직접 추출에 사용되는 두 가지 구성방정식 조합 간의 정확도를 비교하기 위하여 단일 1-3형 압전복합재료 하이드로폰을 대상으로 등가물성과 수신감도를 산출하고 전체 영역에 대한 유한요소 해석 결과와 비교한다. 물성 추출의 정확도는 압전복합재료를 구성하는 폴리머의 탄성 특성과 밀접한 관련이 있음을 확인하고, 오차 원인을 분석하여 정확한 등가물성 산출을 위한 가이드라인을 제시한다. 압전복합재료 하이드로폰과 주변의 음향구조물을 포함하는 스테이브 규모에 대해서도 등가 모델링을 적용하여 추출된 물성의 정확도와 연산량 감소를 확인한다.

  • In this study, two types of thick steel plates are prepared by controlling carbon equivalent and nickel content, and their microstructures are analyzed. Tensile tests, Vickers hardness tests, and Charpy impact tests are conducted to investigate the correlation between microstructure and mechanical properties of the steels. The H steel, which has high carbon equivalent and nickel content, has lower volume fraction of granular bainite (GB) and smaller GB packet size than those of L steel, which has low carbon equivalent and nickel content. However, the volume fraction of secondary phases is higher in the H steel than in the L steel. As a result, the strength of the L steel is higher than that of the H steel, while the Charpy absorbed energy at -40 ℃ is higher than that of the L steel. The heat affected zone (HAZ) simulated H-H specimen has higher volume fraction of acicular ferrite (AF) and lower volume fraction of GB than the HAZ simulated L-H specimen. In addition, the grain size of AF and the packet sizes of GB and BF are smaller in the H-H specimen than in the L-H specimen. For this reason, the Charpy absorbed energy at -20 ℃ is higher for the H-H specimen than for the L-H specimen.

  • This paper has considered the calculation of lateral stiffness of radial tire's sidewall, which consists of cord stiffness and rubber sheet stiffness, by using the material constants of rubber compounds of tire. We have suggested and illustrated how to calculate the rubber sheet lateral stiffness by considering the following aspects. First, the rubber sheet consists of various kinds of rubber compounds with different thickness along the sidewall in the radial direction. Secondly, equivalent Young's modulus of the rubber sheet can be calculated by using available experimental data of rubber compounds. The present method enables us to divide the calculation domain as many as we want, which can reduce numerical error in the calculation of geometrical and mechanical properties. We have illustrated the calculation by using the data of the radial tire for passenger car of P205/60R15.

  • 본 논문은 응력 등가정하중을 이용하여 금속제조공정에서 원하는 성형품과 단조품의 최종형상을 얻기 위한 형상최적화 방법을 제안한다. 성형품의 최종형상은 블랭크의 형상에 따라 달라지고 단조품의 최종형상은 빌렛의 형상에 따라 달라진다. 따라서 원하는 형상의 제품을 얻기 위해 구조최적화방법 중 형상최적화방법을 적용하였다. 금속성형 공정은 비선형 동적해석을 수행하므로 등가정하중법을 이용한다. 등가정하중법 중 가상모델을 이용한 응력 등가정하중은 등가정하중을 산출하는 새로운 방법으로 재료 특성의 가치를 재정의하여 응력 등가정하중을 계산한다. 본 논문에 포함된 예제를 통해 원하는 제품의 최종형상을 얻기 위한 최적의 블랭크 및 빌렛 형상을 도출하여 제안한 방법의 유용성을 검증한다.

  • Ultrasonic cold forging technology (UCFT) utilizing ultrasonic vibration energy is a method to induce severe plastic deformation to a material surface, therefore the structure of the material surface becomes a nano-crystal structure from the surface to a certain depth. It improves the mechanical properties; hardness, compressive residual stress, wear and fatigue characteristics. Applying UCFT to a rolling process in the steel industry is introduced in this study. First, the UCFT specimens of a tool steel (SKD-61/equivalent H13) are prepared and tested to verify the effects of the UCFT in a variety of mechanical properties, the UCFT is applied to the trimming knives in a cold rolling process. It has been determined that UCFT improves the mechanical properties effectively and becomes a practical method to improve productivity and reliability by about two times compared with the conventionally treated tooling in the trimming process in a cold rolling line.

Mechanical properties of Al/Al2O3 and Al/B4C composites

  • Mechanical properties of $Al/Al_2O_3$ and $Al/B_4C$ composites prepared through powder metallurgy are estimated up to 50% $Al_2O_3$ and 35% $B_4C$ weight fractions using micromechanics models and experiments. The experimental Young's modulus up to 0.40 weight fraction of ceramic is found to lie closely between Ravichandran's/Hashin-Shtrikman lower/upper bounds, and close to self consistent method/Miller and Lannutti method/modified rule of mixture/fuzzy logic method single value predictions. Measured Poisson's ratio lies between rule of mixture/Ravichandran lower and upper bound/modified Ravichandran upper bounds. Experimental Charpy energy lies between Hopkin-chamis method/equivalent charpy energy/Ravichandran lower limit up to 20%, and close to the reciprocal rule of mixture for higher $Al_2O_3$ content. Rockwell hardness (RB) and Micro-hardness of $Al/Al_2O_3$ are closer to modified rule of mixture predictions.

Mechanical and Physical Properties of Zinc Borate-Modified Oriented Strandboard (OSB)

  • The mechanical and physical properties of zinc borate (ZB)-modified oriented strandboard (OSB) from southern wood species were investigated in this study. OSB panels treated with ZB were not significantly weaker than the untreated samples in terms of specific modulus of elasticity (SMOE) and specific modulus of rupture (SMOR). ZB showed the negative effect on specific internal bond (SIB) strength, since some of ZB would persist as a powder state on the flake surfaces, thereby reducing the bonding efficiency of the adhesive. The ZB level did not show significant effect on thickness swelling (TS). ZB-modified OSB showed the suitable mechanical and physical properties for the structural wood composites.

  • Ti-6Al-4V has low specific gravity, high corrosion resistance and superior mechanical properties but it is very difficult to control oxygen content in MIM process. It is necessary to use powders with coarse particle size to decrease oxygen content of powders, so feedstocks with poor fluidity and sintered bodies with lower density are obtained in such cases. Fine titanium hydride-dehydride powders were blended with atomized powders to accomplish higher fluidity and sintered density. Sintered bodies had higher sintered density and mechanical properties equivalent to those of wrought materials by controlling oxygen content less than 0.35mass%.

  • In DGEBA/DDM system, the curing specimen are many curing factors which can affect on thermal and mechanical properties. This study was performed to prove the effect on curing specimen prepared by changing of the curing factors which are curing time and temperature of DGEBA/DDM system. As a result on thermal and mechanical properties, flexural strength, modulus and glass transition temperature (Tg) were increased with curing time and temperature were increased. It was found that the optimum curing condition of DGEBA/DDM system cure at $150^{\circ}C$ for 3hrs at equivalent ratio of 1/1.
