  • Chemical reactions occurring in a PEMFC are dominated by the physical conditions and interface properties, and the reactions are expressed in terms of impedance. The performance of a PEMFC can be simply diagnosed by examining the impedance because impedance characteristics can be expressed by an equivalent electrical circuit. In this study, the characteristics of a PEMFC are assessed using the AC impedance and various equivalent circuits such as a simple equivalent circuit, equivalent circuit with a CPE, equivalent circuit with two RCs, and equivalent circuit with two CPEs. It was found in this study that the characteristics of a PEMFC could be assessed using impedance and an equivalent circuit, and the accuracy was highest for an equivalent circuit with two CPEs.

  • In this paper, novel lumped equivalent circuits for a conventional parallel directional coupler are proposed. This novel equivalent circuits only have self inductance and self capacitance, so we can design exact lumped equivalent circuit. The equivalent circuit and design formula for the presented lumped element coupler is derived based on the even- and odd-mode properties of a parallel-coupled line. By using the derived design formula, we have designed the 3 dB and 10 dB lumped element directional couplers at the center frequency of 100 MHz and 2 GHz, respectively a chip type directional coupler has been designed with multilayer configurations by employing commercial EM simulator. Designed chip-type directional couplers have a 3 dB-coupling value at the center frequency of 2 GHz and fabricated lumped directional coupler on fr4 organic substrate has a 3 dB, 10 dB-coupling values at the center frequency of 100 MHz. Excellent agreements between simulation results and measurement results on the designed directional couplers show the validity of this paper. Furthermore, in order to adapt to multi-layer process such as Low Temperature Cofired Ceramic (LTCC), chip-type lumped element couplers have been designed by using this method.

  • This paper presents a new technique to reduce a large interconnect circuit with tens of thousands of elements into the one that is small enough to be analyzed by circuit simulators such as SPICE. This technique takes a fundamentally different approach form the conventional methods based on the interconnect circuit structure analysis and several rules based on the Elmore time constant. The time moments are computed form the circuit consisting of the interconnect circuit and the CMOS gate driver model computed by the AWE technique. Then, the equivalent RC circuit is synthesized from those moments. The characteristics of the driving CMOS gate can be reflected with the high degree of accuracy and the size of the compressed circuit is determined by the number of output nodes regardless of the size of the original interconnect circuits. This technique has been implemented in C language, applied to several interconnect circuits driven by a 0.5${\mu}m$ CMOS gate and the equivalent RC circuits with more than 99% reduction ratio and accuracy with 1 ~ 10% error in therms of propagation delays were obtained.

  • A 2-stage 1 watt MMIC(Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits) HPA(High Power Amplifiers) at 20 GHz band has been designed and fabricated. The $0.15\mu\textrm{m}$ with the width of $400\mu\textrm{m}$for single device pHEMT technology was used for the fabrication of this MMIC HPA. Due to the series feedback technique from source to ground, bias circuits and stabilization circuits on the main microstrip line, the stability factors(Ks) are more than one at full frequency. The independent operation for each stage and excellent S11, S22 less than -20 dB have been obtained by using lange couplers. For beginning the easy design, linear S-parameters have been extracted from the nonlinear equivalent circuit in foundry library, and equivalent circuits of devices at in/output ports were calculated from this S-parameters. The measured performances, which are in well agreement with the predicted ones, showed the MMIC HPA in this paper has the minimum 15 dB of linear gain, -20 dB of reflection coefficients and 31 dBm of output power over 17~25 GHz.

  • The LTCC bandpass filter using multilayer resonators is made of combline type and interdigital type parallel coupled-lines. The equivalent circuits of parallel coupled-lines are analysed. They are applied to make an equivalent circuit of LTCC bandpass filter using multilayer resonators. The 3-pole bandpass filter of the center frequency of 2.45GHz with 250Hz bandwidth is designed and fabricated. The simulated result of the bandpass filter are presented.

  • Traditionally, ERM (Equivalent Random Method) is used to determine number of circuits in an overflow circuit group with rough traffic which has vmr(variance to mean ratio) greater than one. Recently, IPP(Interrupted Poisson Process) approximate method which represents the collective feature of the overflow has been introduced. The negative binomial loss formula can be applied to determine the required number of circuits in the overflow circuit group. In this paper, we deal with the negative binomial loss formula and determination method of number of circuits. We also analyze and compare these three loss formulas.

  • This paper presents the simulation results for the analysis of a lightning surge, switching transients and very fast transients within a thermal plant. The modeling of gas insulated substations (GIS) makes use of electrical equivalent circuits that are composed of lumped elements and distributed parameter lines. The system model also includes some generators, transformers, and low voltage circuits such as 24V DC rectifiers and control circuits. This paper shows the simulation results, via EMTP (Electro-Magnetic Transients Program), for three overvoltage types, such as transient overvoltages, switching transients, very fast transients and a lightning surge.

  • The high-voltage pulse generator consists of transformers of fundamental wave and harmonic waves, and shunt capacitors. The pulse has the fundamental wave and the harmonic waves that have been as a series circuit by the transformers to make high voltage pulse. This paper shows that pulse generator circuit is analyzed by using transformer equivalent circuits with the effect of load and simulated in time domain using Matlab program. The output voltage of pulse were obtained to 2.5kHz, 2.0kV. In high voltage circuit, capacitors are related to frequency band pass characteristics. Also, it is shown that the voltage of output pulse increases according to the growth of load.
