  • The purpose of this research was to test multiplex polymerase chain reaction in investigating the microbiological quality of the risky surfaces in social living places of a military base where over 15 thousand people live together. In 22 samples of 99, there were no bacteria. Only four of the samples contained Shigella, and one of them contained Salmonella, but 77 of the samples contained thermotolerant coliform organisms. There was no statistically significant difference among the microbiological quality of different sites and different equipment surfaces (p>0.05).

  • We installed the measurement equipment which measure the equivalent Salt Deposit Density(ESDD) of the domestic coast area in the selected 112 place and investigated the influence of the wind which blow at the point of 500m from coast installing a wind vane, wind gauge for realtime measurement. During september${\sim}$december, 2005, ESDD which passively measured at the point of 50m from coast is maximum C grade in the Homigot of Pohang, B grade in the Gochang and A grade in the remaining point. Also ESDD which is measured in the east coast, west coast respectively is the more the distance being far from the coast to inland, the more ESDD rapidly decreasing but each area of the south coast is difficult to identify the decreased tendency because of very low measurements.

  • As the minimum feature size decrease, control of contamination by nanoparticles is getting more attention in semiconductor process. Cleaning technology which removes nanoparticles is essential to increase yield. A reference wafer on which particles with known size and number are deposited is needed to evaluate the cleaning process. We simulated particle trajectories in the chamber by using FLUENT. Charged monodisperse particles are generated using scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS) and deposited on the wafer by electrostatic force. The experimental results agreed with the simulation results well. We calculate the particles loss in pipe flow theoretically and compare with the experimental results.

  • Recently, energy generation using algae technology is being promising due to the emerging issues on energy insufficiency and environmental contamination, although the solution has not been resolved in aspect of technological and economical efficiencies since it was originally proposed in the early 1980s by many scholars. The energy production technology using algae materials has great values as not only a solution for new energy generation but also an eco-friendly sustainable building equipment system. In addition, cultivation tank for algae using water sources seems to play a role as a decreasing system for thermal transmittance on building components. This study aims at investigating the adaptability towards the future sustainable building with algae technology and testifying the energy efficiency of the algae skins by operating a couple of simulation tools to measure building performances for the proposed prototype of the façade system.

  • The remediation of railroad contaminated soil is gaining wide attention, recently. In railroad field, modification of diesel supply field, equipment of roll pad, FRP panel, and iron pannel under diesel locomotive storages are used for the prevention of contamination expansions. However, cheap and efficient remediation technology has not been suggested yet. In this study, the contaminated ballast was remediated by blasting technology. Because the contaminants mainly resides on the surface of ballast, blasting these contaminants make it available to recycle the ballast. We carried out the remediation of oil-contaminated ballasts using the blasting technology, and we could remediate them nicely. This technology is expected to be used for the cheap and quick remediation of contaminated ballast.

  • Because the indoor spaces of the passenger cabin is generally airtight to secure the safety of passengers and enhance the efficiency of the cabin air conditioning performances, the contamination pattern of them are largely similar to that of general indoor spaces. Therefore, continuous supply of outdoor air is required to keep the amenity of indoor space. Heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system is composed of air cleaning filter, heater and air conditioned, blower and ducts. To achieve the clean indoor environment, an integrated control of each HVAC equipment are required. In this study, we developed the air cleaning system to enhance the amenity of the railroad passenger cabin.

  • Most of chemical plant are using toxic and dangerous materials, inflammable and poisonous. There are many accidental dangers by escaping of fire, explosive and poisonous materials in case of high temperature and pressure. The accidents lead to taking employer's and local people's life and environmental contamination. Therefore, 27 small-medium chemical plant, which size is 30 ∼ 200 employees out of safety management agent ill the area of A was selected in this study. The problems of safety management and several countermeasures at the chemical plants was indicated through the analyzed data. Prior to this analysis, top managers' concerns, equipment maintenance for the safety management are needed. For the future, calamity prevention countermeasures by industrial disaster analysis are needed and active safety management programs are investigated for the industrial disaster prevention and productivity enhancement at the chemical plant.

  • Over the years manufactures have become increasingly aware of the importance of water purity and its effect on the quality of the final product. One of the largest problems that confronts pure water system operators is bacterial recontamination shortly after the water purification equipment. There are several recommended methods of either preventing or recommended methods of either preventing or removing such contamination but most have inherent disadvantages. Drinking water has required new treatment techniques such as ozonation and granular activated carbon(GAC) filtration. Ozone is known to be a powerful oxidant and disinfectant. Therefore it has been found to be necessary for the treatment of taste, odor and color as an oxidant of inorganic and organic compounds.
