The effect of cooling an impaction plate on impactor performance (환경입자제어용 관성충돌기의 충돌판 냉각에 따른 효율곡선의 변화)

  • Recently, as the environmental pollution becomes an important issue, aerosols which are the main components of the atmospheric pollution become the subject of a lot of researches. An impactor is a kind of sampling and measuring equipment for aerosols since 1970s. The impactor uses coating materials to obtain high performance. However, there are a lot of situations when coating materials are not available and in this case the classification efficiency of the impactor decreases significantly. In this study, the impaction plate of the impactor is cooled, therefore the impactor performs efficiently when coating materials are not available.

  • Technology competitiveness evaluates environmental and engineered technology and process at both the scientific and market levels. There are increasing concerns to measure the effects of the technology variables on the potential market feasibility levels. However, there are very little empirical analysis studies on that issue. This study investigates the impacts of technology variables on the levels of market feasibility based on 230 data obtained from Korea Technology Transfer Center. As various statistical analysis, the canonical discriminant model, logit discriminant model and classification model were used and their results were compared. This study results showed that major technology variables had very significant relations to discriminate high and low categories of market feasibility. Finally, this study will help building management strategies to level up the potential market performance and also help financial Institutions to decide funds needed for small-sized technology firms.

  • The advance of wireless telecommunication and observation technologies leads developing sensor and sensor network for serving the context information continuously. Besides, in order to understand and cope with the context awareness based on the sensor network, it is becoming important issue to deal with plentiful data transmitted from various sensors. Therefore, we propose a context awareness system to deal with the plentiful sensor data in a vast area such as the prevention of a forest fire, the warning system for detecting environmental pollution, and the analysis of the traffic information, etc. The proposed system consists of the context acquisition to collect and store various sensor data, the knowledge base to keep context information and context log, the rule manager to process context information depending on user defined rules, and the situation information manager to analysis and recognize the context, etc. The proposed system is implemented for managing renewable energy data management transmitted from a large scale area.

  • The present paper addresses development of a GTT NO96 membrane type 170K m3 LNG carrier targeted to operate in moderate ice infested seas including Baltic Sea, Sakhalin port of Sea of Okhotsk, Murmansk port of Barents Sea, etc. Critical design issues are covered in detail to meet the requirements coming from the missioned operation conditions comprising low design ambient temperature, harsh wave conditions, stringent environmental protection policies, etc.

  • Information technology is rapidly diffused throughout the world. Unfortunately, as the technology goes on the disabled vocational rehabilitation is more isolated in physically and mentally. A new paradigm, 'Digital practical use Opportunity' is a product of the tremendous technological changes driving the disabled vocational rehabilitation. The employment for the disabled vocational rehabilitation is a hot issue. Because lack of education rehabilitation cause many problems for the employer. Relating program of employment and education for the disabled vocational rehabilitation, they can get a job in a better condition. This study propose a model of good environmental employment for the disabled vocational providing them the way of getting a job so that they can go as a member of highly developed society. It conducted in society could fundamentally advance our knowledge about the structure of the employment of the disabled vocational rehabilitation, cure their feelings, give them a chance to live happier, stronger, healthier.

  • Due to environmental regulation and technical improvements, renewable energy sources (RES) are increasingly penetrated and operated in power systems. Clean energy technologies have become cost-competitive with conventional power systems, and in the near future, the generation cost of RES is expected to approach grid parity. In this situation, it should be considered an extraordinarily important issue to be maximized resulting in utilization of RES as well as to develop technologies for efficiency improvement of RES. Therefore, in this paper, the method for determining an optimal installed capacity and interconnected location of RES is proposed in order to minimize the cost of energy not supplied, which can contribute to improve distribution reliability.

  • A survey regarding ozone abatement policies and measures was conducted for 230 residents in Seoul. The main survey results of public opinion indicated that it would be better to devise new effective plans of public relation to citizen, and that national strategies for the ozone pollution abatement should be reevaluated and made up for the weak point. Especially, it would be necessary to provide for citizens precise and/or specific information regarding ozone pollution issue and guideline how to reduce ozone pollution from the household.

Analysis on Spatial Pattern Changes of Aging Phenomenon and Relation between Aging Population and Regional Characteristics (고령화 현상의 공간적 패턴 변화와 지역특성과의 관계 분석)

  • Aging phenomenon is an important issue in Korea national policy. This aging phenomenon depends on the social and environmental characteristics of regions. Also aging phenomenon and regional characteristics have spatial dependency. The purpose of this study is to discover the spatial changes in aging population rate and to find local factors of regional aging phenomenon considering spatial autocorrelation. For spatial analysis of ageing phenomenon, local Moran's I and Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) were applied. As the results, the most significant changes of aging phenomenon appeared between 2000 and 2005, and most of hot-spot regions (aged regions) were distributed in Jullanam-do and Jullabuk-do. The results of GWR (R-square: 0.681) shows that total fertility rate, the number of doctor per 1,000 people and forest area rate have positive relation with aging population rate, but the number of private academy per 1,000 people has negative relation.

  • Recently, energy-saving technology is rapidly becoming a crucial issue for mankind due to the depletion of natural resources. From this perspective, every automobile manufactures are trying to develop light materials and to validate safety with environmental consideration. In this study, we developed clutch connector tube which is the parts of power transferring clutch with light materials to substitude for existing general steel materials. We also verified that the general steel materials can be replaced with nylon, fiberglass, stainless and plastic materials or not. As a result, we verified that the mixture of glass and nylon composite material can substitude the general steel.
